BrahMos Missile: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday lauded India's indigenous weapons used during Operation Sindoor and said that Brahmos Missiles will soon be manufactured in Lucknow. Addressing a public meeting in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi, PM Modi commended India's air defence system, which countered Pakistani drones and missiles during the military operation.
He said, 'During Operation Sindoor, the world saw the capabilities of our indigenous weapons. Our Air Defence Systems, missiles, and drones have proved the strength of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat', especially the Brahmos missiles. Brahmos missiles will now be manufactured in Lucknow.'
The Prime Minister added that major defence companies are setting up their manufacturing plants in the UP defence corridor.
'Many major defence firms are setting up their manufacturing plants in the UP defence corridor. Made in India weapons will soon become the strength of our forces,' he said.
Prime Minister Modi also hailed Operation Sindoor and said that he avenged the loss of the Pahalgam terror attack with the blessings of Lord Mahadev.
During his 51st visit to his Lok Sabha constituency, Varanasi, PM Modi dedicated the success of Operation Sindoor to Lord Mahadev.
PM Modi said, 'This is the first time I have come to Kashi after Operation Sindoor. 26 innocent civilians were mercilessly killed by terrorists in Pahalgam. My heart was full of sorrow. I had pledged to take revenge for my daughters' sindoor, and I fulfilled it with the blessings of Mahadev. I dedicate the success of Operation Sindoor to the feet of Mahadev.'
He assured that anyone messing with India will not be spared.
PM Modi said, 'When there is injustice and terror in front, Mahadev adorns his 'Rudra roop'. The world saw this face of India during Operation Sindoor. Anyone who messes with India will not be spared even in 'pataal lok'.'
Indian armed forces carried out Operation Sindoor on May 7 to avenge the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22, which killed 26 people.

‘Setting a plan of action for next 5 year…': PM Modi hails ‘historic day' on Philippines President's Delhi visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday met Philippines President Ferdinand R Marcos Jr at Hyderabad House, wherein their talks were aimed at further cementing the friendship between the two nations. After the meet, addressing reporters, PM Modi hailed 'a historic day for bilateral relations' between the two Asian nations. PM Narendra Modi said, 'We are taking India to the levels of a strategic partnership. This will give our relationship a new speed and depth, and give strength to our relationship in the Defence and Security Sector.' 'In the last few years, there has been progress in our relations in all sectors- trade, defence, maritime, health, security, food security, development partnership, and people-to-people ties. It is a matter of great happiness that we are setting a plan of action for the next five years.' PM Modi said adding, 'Till July 2027, the Philippines is India's country coordinator. In 2026, you will preside over the ASEAN Chair'. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his appreciation for the Philippines' decision to grant visa-free entry to Indian tourists, describing it as a welcome move. He announced that, in a reciprocal gesture, India would offer free e-visas to tourists from the Philippines. PM Modi further stated that efforts would be undertaken this year to establish direct flight connectivity between India and Manila, enhancing travel and tourism ties between the two nations. India and the Philippines have conducted joint naval exercises for the first time in the disputed South China Sea — a significant military deployment that has provoked a strong reaction from China, according to an Associated Press report. Beijing has long-standing territorial disputes with both Asian democracies and a historic regional rivalry with New Delhi. The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, General Romeo Brawner, stated on Monday that the two-day joint naval sail and exercises, which commenced on Sunday, were successfully carried out, the AP report added. Brawner expressed hope that Filipino forces would engage in further joint manoeuvres with the Indian military in the future. When asked whether Chinese forces had responded in any way, General Brawner remarked, 'We did not experience any untoward incident but we were still shadowed. We expected that already.' This is the first visit by the President of Philippines, a Southeast Asian country to India since he assumed office back in 2022, marking a significant milestone, as his visit aligns with the celebration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations. He is accompanied by First Lady Louise Araneta Marcos and a high-level delegation, including several Ministers from his Cabinet. Philippines President is visiting India from August 4-8.

Suvendu Adhikari's convoy attacked: ‘Couldn't have happened without nod from TMC top brass'

The convoy of BJP MLA Suvendu Adhikari, the leader of opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, was attacked, allegedly by Trinamool Congress workers, in Cooch Behar. The incident took place in Khagrabari in the afternoon. Adhikari was going to meet with the police superintendent over alleged incidents of party workers being targeted in the district, after securing an order from the Calcutta High Court. He was also scheduled to hold a party meeting there. TMC organised protests in 19 spots along the route of the convoy against'possible NRC (National Register of Citizens)' in Bengal, alleged harassment of migrant workers working outside the state, and disrespect to the Bengali language. TMC workers chanted 'Joy Bangla' slogans and waved block flags at the convoy. While the convoy was passing through the Khagrabari area, stones were pelted at the convoy, and cars were attacked with bamboo poles. Apart from the vehicle in which Adhikari and Nisith Pramanik were travelling, police cars were also damaged. 'TMC, under the leadership of Udayan Guha, has done this in the presence of police. They smashed the glass of even a bulletproof car with stones,' said Adhikari afterwards. #WATCH | Cooch Behar, West Bengal: The convoy of West Bengal LoP Suvendu Adhikari was allegedly attacked in Cooch Behar, while he was on his way to the Superintendent of Police Office. More details awaited. — ANI (@ANI) August 5, 2025 'This is unacceptable. Our leader of the opposition was attacked by TMC goons. This could not have happened without a nod from the TMC top brass. Our state president has asked us to protest throughout Bengal; we will do it,' said Sukanta Majumder, the former state president and Lok Sabha MP. 'It is a pre-planned attack on us. We asked our security guards to remain calm. TMC is now desperate,' said Nisith Paramanik, a former Lok Sabha MP. Partha Pratim Roy, the TMC Cooch Behar district party president, said, 'Today, the people of Bengal and TMC workers showed black flags and protested against the BJP. Our workers engaged in a peaceful demonstration. No one was involved in violence. BJP has staged the incident to get sympathy.' Udayan Guha, the Dinhata MLA and North Bengal Development Minister, said, 'People protested against the BJP's aim to bring in NRC in Bengal. Whoever is trying to do such things, to insult the Bengali language, harass our migrant workers outside the state, will face the wrath of the people.'
