Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh govt launched a major drive against illegal encroachments in districts near the India-Nepal border, Bahraich, Shravasti, Siddharthnagar, Maharajganj, and Balrampur, demolishing hundreds of unauthorised structures, including unrecognised religious institutions.
Illegal constructions were demolished in Shravasti and Bahraich, while in Siddharthnagar, 12 illegal structures were identified and notices issued. In Lakhimpur Kheri, a day-long survey found no illegal encroachments. These actions target long-standing illegal occupations of valuable border land, which the Yogi govt is determined to reclaim.

's instructions. In the 0–10 km stretch along the India-Nepal border under Nanpara tehsil, 227 cases of illegal encroachment were identified.

Shravasti DM Ajay Kumar Dwivedi said that action was taken on Monday against 12 unrecognised madrassas — six in Jamunha, four in Bhinga, and two in Ikouna — which were sealed for lacking valid documents. So far, action was taken against 32 madrasas.
A mosque located in Bhartha Roshangarh village, Bhinga tehsil, partially built on govt land was also demolished as part of the drive. Maharajganj DM Anunay Jha said that during the drive to identify illegal constructions within a 10km radius of the India-Nepal border, authorities found religious activities being carried out in revenue village Sonpipri Khurd. An illegal structure, intended to develop into a 'mazar', was removed in the presence of the village head, revenue officials, and the SSB team. An illegal madrassa built on pond land in Ramnagar village was also demolished.
Lakhimpur Kheri DM Durga Shakti Nagpal said that the identification of illegal constructions continued throughout Monday in Tehsil Palia.
A temporary mosque structure in Krishnanagar Colony was removed, and action under Section-67 is being taken to evict the illegal Idgah built 80 years ago in Chandan Chowki village. Siddharthnagar DM reported that 12 illegal constructions were identified, with notices issued to occupiers. "If the constructions are not removed, legal action, including demolition, will follow," he said.

NEW DELHI: RSS will not extend invitations to the embassies of Pakistan, Turkiye and Bangladesh for its 100th anniversary celebrations, even as it is reaching out to other diplomatic missions it's been in touch with. The list of invitees includes representatives of minority communities, sports and cultural icons, thought leaders and entrepreneurs from emerging fields such as startups and Indian knowledge systems. The highlight of the centenary year will be a three-day dialogue in Delhi from Aug 26, led by sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat , focusing on Sangh's century-long journey, its role in nation-building and its vision for "new horizons". Bhagwat's Delhi address will be part of a series of four major events in the run-up to the Vijayadashami centenary on Oct 2. Similar dialogues are scheduled in Bengaluru in Nov, Kolkata thereafter, and Mumbai. Each will feature two days of lectures by Bhagwat and a third day devoted to a pre-submitted question-and-answer session. The Delhi programme will begin at 5.30 pm each day and will also delve into 'Panch Parivartan' (Five Transformations) agenda of the centenary year. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The Secret Lives of the Romanovs — the Last Rulers of Imperial Russia! CM to officials: Include views of public reps in action plans
Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted a detailed review of development works for the Agra division in Agra on Tuesday. He announced that there was no shortage of funds for projects but emphasised the need for proper utilisation of the budget. Interacting with officials and public representatives from Agra, Mathura, Firozabad, and Mainpuri, the CM directed officials to coordinate with public representatives over the finalisation of proposals. He warned against delays in approvals, adding that unspent funds undermined govt's intent. Calling the meeting "a mission to ensure development schemes translate into real outcomes" and not just a routine inspection, the CM also stressed the need to bridge the gap between planning and execution of projects by incorporating ground-level feedback from elected representatives into planning. In his interaction with public representatives, Yogi discussed their challenges, asked about public expectations and development priorities of their respective constituencies. He directed officials to ensure that all their suggestions were incorporated into action plans. During a review of the public works department, the CM issued various directions, asking officials to ensure that proposals for roads, bridges, flyovers, bypasses, and inter-state connectivity submitted by MLAs were incorporated into the work plan. He also called for a large-scale pothole-free road campaign to be launched immediately after the monsoon. The CM reminded officials that roads built by contractors are covered under a guarantee period, and any damage during this time must be repaired by the same contractor. He warned of strict action in cases of negligence and directed departments to prepare fresh proposals for constructing small and large bridges over rivers. Tourism department officials informed the CM that 160 projects worth Rs 590 crore were underway in the division. The CM directed them to ensure that roads leading to major urban and rural temples are developed based on the number of devotees using the roads. In his review of the urban development department, the CM's major focus was on waterlogging. He asked local bodies to come up with effective drainage plans. The Agra police commissioner also gave a presentation on action taken under 'Mission Asmita', focused on tackling illegal religious conversions and crime.
