2 dead after head-on crash in San Fernando Valley
It happened at around 3:45 p.m. on Wentworth Street near Wheatland Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Firefighters said that two people were found trapped inside the wreckage from the crash, one inside each vehicle.
There was no information provided on either of the victims or what caused the collision.
Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division investigators will be handling the case.
SkyCal was overhead as firefighters worked to free the victims from the heavily damaged cars.

Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman was released from a Los Angeles County jail Monday afternoon, three days after he was arrested on weapons charges. Deputies say that they searched Perryman's vehicle and found five firearms, two of which were "assault style rifles." "On August 1, 2025, at 9:30 p.m., South Los Angeles Station deputies conducted a traffic stop on Los Angeles Chargers football player Denzel Perryman, 32, for vehicle code violations," a statement from the LACSD reads. "During the traffic stop deputies discovered five firearms in Mr. Perryman's vehicle, two of which were assault style rifles. He was arrested and booked on weapons violation charges and was cooperative with deputies." It's not clear what prompted the search of Perryman's car. Per the LACSD, the weapons resulted in multiple weapons violations. Perryman was detained and held without bail at the South Los Angeles Sheriff's Station. He remained in custody over the weekend and was scheduled for a hearing at an Inglewood courthouse Tuesday morning. But prosecutors declined to pursue charges, and Perryman was released from custody Monday afternoon. Perryman's agent Ron Butler provided a statement to The Athletic Monday night. 'We're grateful the matter has been resolved,' Butler said, via a statement to The Athletic. 'At this time, Denzel is focused on getting back to his family and teammates. Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters Monday that he visited Perryman in jail on Sunday. 'He was in good spirits,' Harbaugh said. 'I love Denzel. He's always done right. He's never been in trouble. Got a beautiful family, and we're just letting the due process play out.' Perryman, 32, is a 10-season NFL veteran. He played his first six seasons with the Chargers before stints with the Las Vegas Raiders and Houston Texans. He returned to the Chargers in 2024 and played in and started 11 games. A Pro Bowl selection in 2021, Perryman projects to play a key role with the Chargers inside linebacker corps this season and is listed as a starter on the Chargers depth chart.

Colorado State Patrol investigating wrong way crash on Hwy 9, five killed
The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a wrong way crash in Grand County on Monday that killed five people and seriously wounded another. According to CSP, A Ford F-150 was driving north on Highway 9 around 7:17 a.m. when, for reasons not yet known, the driver crossed into the southbound lane near milepost 136. The Ford struck a GMC Yukon heading south, and the impact caused both vehicles to catch fire. Authorities said the 25-year-old man driving the F-150 was taken by air ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. The 34-year-old man driving the Yukon and his four passengers were all pronounced dead at the scene. CSP said the Grand County Coroner's Office will identify the deceased pending notification of their next of kin. Highway 9 was closed in the area for much of the day while troopers investigated the scene. It was reopened by 2:47 p.m. Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the crash and has not spoken to investigators to contact CSP Dispatch at (970) 249-4392 and reference case number VC25269.
