THE BBC have announced a new Doctor Who series - but there is a huge twist.
Fans were left stunned last month when bosses replaced Ncuuti Gatwa with former star Billie Piper in a shock series ending.

Billie Piper made a surprising return as the new Dr Who
Piper, 42, is a fan favourite on the long-running BBC series, and originally played sidekick Rose Tyler to Christopher Ecclestone's Doctor back in 2005.
Fans were therefore shocked to see her make a surprising return as outgoing Gatwa's Dr Who regenerated to reveal Piper as the new doc.
Gatwa, 32, the show's 15th Doctor, left after just two series, amid widespread reports of plunging ratings and doubts over its future linked to woke storylines.
It is unclear if Piper's role will be a permanent move.

Her character remained with David Tennant's Tenth Doctor, before becoming trapped in a parallel world.
Showrunner Russell T Davies said it was "an honour and a hoot" to welcome Billie back to the show, though also played coy when it came to what this means for the Time Lord going forward.
Instead, he just noted: "After 62 years, the Doctor's adventures are only just beginning!"
And now the BBC is set to expand the Whoniverse as it launches plans for a brand new pre-school animation series which will see the Doctor's adventures come to CBeebies for the first time ever.
The BBC is looking for a passionate production company to create and produce the series, which will run independently from the main show.
It will see the Doctor travelling through time and space for the pre-school audience, solving mysteries and problems alongside their companions and other friends.

And, of course, they may come up against one or two challenges on their way.
Speaking about the plans, Patricia Hidalgo, Director of Children's and Education said: 'Everyone is welcome at CBeebies, including the Doctor!
"This much-loved franchise entertains millions around the world, so it is only right that our younger audience get to experience the wonder and the magic of the Doctor in a brand new format.
"This is an extremely exciting opportunity, and we are looking forward to welcoming companies to pitch for this new project, as we continue our commitment and investment in the UK's animation industry.'
Meanwhile, insiders say Billie Piper's shock return at the end of the latest series was understood to be teeing up a comeback for David Tennant as the Time Lord for a one-off special.
A source said: 'The BBC brought Doctor Who back in 2005 and there is talk about a possible one-off project to celebrate the 20th anniversary.
'David and Billie were a hugely popular partnership and he brought in a golden age of Doctor Who.
'With the anniversary of the reboot this year there have been some ideas floated about, with the thought of maybe bringing David and Billie back together for one last hurrah.
'When David's Doctor bi-generated in the 60th anniversary special, his 'half' went on to live a normal life in an alternative universe while Ncuti Gatwa's carried on as the Time Lord.
'It wouldn't be beyond the realms of imagination for him to return with Billie as Rose for a one-off special to celebrate not only their partnership but the anniversary of BBC bringing back Doctor Who.'
David, 54, played the tenth version of the Time Lord for five years until 2010.
In a twist, he then returned as the 14th Doctor for three specials before handing the role over to Ncuti.
The Sun revealed last month that Ncuti, 31, was leaving the Tardis.
And after the final episode, Ncuti said: 'I've loved every minute of it, but now is the time to hand over the keys to that beloved box and let someone else take control and enjoy it every bit as much as I have.
'I'll truly miss it, and forever be grateful.'
Doctor Who's future is still undecided, with the BBC now waiting to see if Disney+ — which pumped millions of pounds into the show — will renew its deal.
Ratings for the sci-fi staple have plummeted since Tennant left, with overnight peak viewing figures dropping as low as 1.6million.
Many fans of the show complained it had gone 'woke'.
Meanwhile, Whovians are waiting to see if Billie is the new, 16th Doctor or is sidekick Rose again.
Shame we can't jump in a Tardis and find out as only time will tell.

I won Race Across The World but hid a secret struggle from the cameras
Race Across The World came to a tense conclusion earlier this week. The BBC reality competition show, which started in 2019, sees five pairs of contestants undertake a cross-continental race - without smartphones, credit cards, the internet or air travel. The fifth series saw the travellers take on an almost 9,000-mile route from the Great Wall Of China, through Nepal, to the southern tip of India, with a budget of just over £1,000 per person. And its winners were mother and son duo Caroline and Tom Bridge, 61 and 21, who narrowly claimed victory - with sisters Elizabeth and Letitia only 19 minutes behind them. The pair, who took home the £20,000 prize, have now spoken out about the secret battles their epic 51-day journey helped them overcome. Caroline and Tom spoke extensively on the show about the mother claiming - and her son accepting - her identity beyond being a housewife and parent. But she told Metro she had been facing another challenge behind the scenes too: 'We'd just downsized the house which I really struggled with. 'I didn't have a horse anymore and we had our dog put down. 'Tom was becoming more independent and I thought, "I don't know what life is going to offer me now". 'Luckily, Race Across The World came at the right time.' She took the loss of her horse so hard because it has emerged since her time on the show that Caroline is a successful eventer. The Race Across The World winner loves to take part in the equestrian event, which sees competitors take on dressage, cross-country and show jumping. And since finishing the BBC competition show, she got her horse back and made a successful return to the sport: 'I have a much more positive attitude now. 'I still spend a lot of time outside with my animals but I'm not as frightened of being lonely.' In fact, her return to horse riding has been so effective and positive that she has already topped the British Eventing BE90 March/April OBP league. Caroline told The Horse and Hound in May riding prepared her well for the TV show: 'Eventing has got a little bit of the challenge of Race Across the World because you have to be prepared, fit, determined and have an aim in mind... 'Horsey people are generally quite grounded and extremely tough. 'You can put up with being dirty and grubby and you just get on with it and that really helped because dignity goes out the window very, very quickly. 'You don't mind getting your hands dirty in both senses of the word. 'And I was quite fit, which was probably the biggest help for me in the long run.' But some viewers of the BBC programme, upon discovering her sporting career, questioned why it was not mentioned during the series. One said on discussion site Reddit: 'I'm not dismissing her feelings about being her role in life. 'But her whole "I'm just a stay-at-home mum who has never done anything in my life" attitude rubs a bit thin when you take her sporting career in to account. 'She's not just an amateur - she has been doing it for 25 years i.e. all the time she was running a house.' Another added: 'I don't like how Caroline is making out she is just some poor housewife who has never had a life when actually, she is a very successful eventer. 'She is making out that she hasn't done anything for herself since getting married. This is simply not true.' Someone else said: 'Caroline is successful in eventing which, to me, makes her sob story seem a little disingenuous and designed to counter their obvious privilege. 'They definitely have grown over the course of the series and become more likeable. 'I don't think the producers really needed to work as hard on it as they might have thought.' But other commenters defended her: 'I think that's more of an age thing and your children getting older. 'My mum kept going on about having lost her purpose and confidence when I went to uni... even though she had a very successful career. 'She's just retired and is saying the same thing now she's not working.' Another added: 'Oh for goodness' sake, it's the lowest level of eventing you could possibly do... 'She has a horse (not a crime, last time I looked) and she does a bit of very low entry-level eventing. As a hobby, not a profession... 'She's stayed home and looked after her children and husband. And now she is wanting to do a little bit for herself before it's too late. 'Have an adventure... what's wrong with that?' And it clearly worked - as they signed the coveted check-in book, Caroline said, through tears: 'We must never doubt ourselves, ever, ever, ever again.' Caroline has also since confessed how hard it has been to keep their win a secret from all their family and friends. They had to lie and say they had been visiting Tom's godfather in Australia and doing some travelling around the country. But both of them have never been there - leaving them quickly brushing off any family or friends who tried to ask anything more about it. Months after their life-changing trip, they still have not received the prize money - and even with all that time, they remain not quite sure how they will spend it. Caroline plans, sensibly, to put it in a premium bond until she decides - while Tom thinks he may well go to do more travelling. In the meantime, Tom has set up a new business endeavour with a friend the pair met on their travels. While in India, they stayed with a man named Mr Chhotaram and his family, who have a rug-making business. But Tom and Caroline know they are not going to stop travelling any time soon - with a trip to Kazakhstan in the works The mother and son had a go at it themselves, eventually buying and shipping their creation to the UK - and all Tom's friends have been admiring it. And ever since their interest, Tom has been importing Mr Chhotaram's rugs to the UK, selling them on his behalf and sending the money back to him. The business partners have imported ten so far, with a pop-up shop and a website both in the works. And Tom and Caroline are not going to stop travelling any time soon - with a trip to Kazakhstan in the works. She smiled: 'We're not going to do any research, just [fly] by the seat of our pants and just be impulsive, speak to locals and find out what's good to do.' The BBC has announced a popular sitcom with a perfect rating on review site Rotten Tomatoes is coming to an end after three series, despite its rave reviews from viewers The BBC has revealed the end is in sight for one of its most popular sitcoms in a blow that is sure to devastate fans. With a perfect 100 per cent on review site Rotten Tomatoes, the decision to bring the sitcom to a close will shock its loyal viewers. However, there is still to be one final series of the show to give fans their fix. Boarders follows five black teens from inner-city London who are on scholarships to a prestigious boarding school. It has gained a large following since the first series aired in February last year. A second season quickly followed, hitting the screens earlier this year. However, despite the excitement of a third series being announced, fans will be disappointed to hear it will be three and out for the show. Series three will air in 2026, with six episodes anticipated. All of the show's main characters, played by Jodie Campbell, Sekou Diaby, Aruna Jalloh, Myles Kamwendo and Josh Tedeku, will return for the final instalments. The new episodes will see the students gear up for their final term at St Gilbert's. They will take on the pressures of exams while also stress about their futures. However, there will be inter-school rivalries too following the move of their friend and former classmate. Series two saw the group's biggest foe turn out to be their new headteacher. With acting headmistress Carol Watlington-Geese (Niky Wardley) hot on their heels, the group had to navigate their school life. Following series one, big things were predicted for the cast members. The Guardian claimed: "This private school satire is absolutely packed with future megastars." And the high praise flowed in online too, with high ratings across review sites, including a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes. Writer and creator Daniel Lawrence Taylor is set to reprise his role as the group's mentor, Gus. He will also make his directorial debut in the final episodes. Speaking after series three was announced, Daniel said: "Boarders has been a deeply personal project for me and it's been incredible to see how audiences have connected with the characters. "From day one, I wanted to create something funny, honest, and proudly Black – and in this final term, I hope to finish their story as they face their final year with greater challenges, deeper friendships and the looming question of life beyond school." Lindsay Salt, director of BBC Drama, added: "Boarders has been a fun, sharp and timely addition to our screens since its launch two years ago, with star-making turns from its exceptional young cast."
