Brighton agree deal for PSV defender Olivier Boscagli on a free transfer after £8m bid was rejected last summer
Brighton have agreed to sign PSV Eindhoven defender Olivier Boscagli.
The 27-year old will join on a free once his contract ends with the Dutch champions next month.
Brighton had tried to sign the Monaco-born left-footer last summer but had an £8m offer rejected.
Boscagli played 30 Eredivisie matches this season as PSV pipped Ajax to the title on the final day of the season.
The Frenchman, who joined PSV from Nice in 2019, contributed with one goal and six assists.
Brighton, who have also agreed to sign Tommy Watson from Sunderland, are pursuing a deal to sign highly rated 17-year old Olympiacos striker Charalampos Kostoulas which could see Abdallah Sima go the other way.

Kostoulas usually operates as a No 9 but can also play behind the centre-forward or on either flank.
Manchester United and Arsenal are among several other clubs keen on the teenager.
Brighton have also made offers for Botafogo left-back Cuiabano. The 22-year old has previously been a target for Fenerbahce.

Chelsea move for £50m Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens
Chelsea are in talks with Borussia Dortmund over Jamie Gittens and want to wrap up a deal before both clubs go to the Club World Cup. Gittens, 20, was the subject of an enquiry from Chelsea in January and it is understood they have approached the German club about a deal in the current window. The England Under-21 winger, who spent time in Chelsea's academy as a child, has been expected to attract bids of more than £50 million, with a release clause of around that value in his contract. The deal will be a full focus for Chelsea with uncertainty over the future of Jaden Sancho, the former Dortmund player who is on loan from Manchester United and whom Chelsea have a contractual obligation to buy for between £20 million and £25 million – having finished in the top 14 of the Premier League – or pay a £5 million exit penalty fee. Chelsea have been active in the market early this year, to bolster Enzo Maresca's squad before the Fifa tournament this summer in America. Gary Lineker 's final interview as a BBC broadcaster was reportedly cancelled after concerns from the organisation feared that the pundit would discuss the war in Gaza with Mohamed Salah. The long-serving Match of the Day host presented his final programme for the channel on the last day of the 2024-25 season. Lineker had been set to continue working with the BBC for next year's 2026 World Cup as the front man of the channel's coverage in North America, as well as leading FA Cup coverage. But the England legend announced that he would step back from the broadcaster for good after becoming embroiled in controversy for sharing an Instagram story about Zionism featuring a rate - an antisemitic trope used by the Nazis to characterise Jewish people as vermin. Announcing his exit in a BBC statement, the former England footballer said that he '(recognised) the error and upset that (he) caused. 'Stepping back now feels like the responsible course of action,' he added, stating that he 'would never consciously repost anything antisemitic'. Lineker was believed to be primed for a sit-down with Salah, but the interview was reportedly cancelled without warning amid fears that he would discuss the ongoing conflict in the Middle East with the Premier League title-winner. A source shared that the interview as set to be shared across his final weekend, but the threat that Gaza might have 'come up naturally in conversation' saw it cancelled 'out of nowhere'. The BBC were contacted for comment by the publication, and shared the following statement: 'The interview was cancelled because it planned to air after Gary's last Match of the Day. 'It would be wrong to suggest anything else.' But the outlet's source questioned that the conversation could have aired 'anytime'. Mail Sport has contacted the BBC for further comment. After Lineker shared his statement stepping back from the broadcaster, the BBC's director of sport Alex Kay-Jelski sent an email to staff minutes afterwards highlighting how 'difficult and emotional' the roiling controversy had been for many of his employees. He added: 'It is sad to be saying goodbye to such a brilliant broadcaster and I also want to thank Gary for his years of service'. Lineker will not be returning next season to front the broadcaster's FA Cup coverage in 2026 BBC director general Tim Davie also agreed was is the right decision, after having reportedly lost patience with the BBC's top-paid presenter. 'Gary has acknowledged the mistake he made. Accordingly, we have agreed he will step back from further presenting after this season', he said. He continued: 'Gary has been a defining voice in football coverage for the BBC for over two decades. His passion and knowledge have shaped our sports journalism and earned him the respect of sports fans across the UK and beyond. 'We want to thank him for the contribution he has made.'
