Several road closures coming up in Hamilton due to maintenance, ongoing projects

Several temporary road closures are happening throughout the rest of the month in Hamilton, the city said, as maintenance work and ongoing projects continue. "These improvements are a critical part of ensuring our roads are safe, reliable and built to serve residents and businesses now and in the future," the city said in a news release on Wednesday. York Boulevard and Cannon Street remodelling continues As part of a wider remodeling of sections of York Boulevard and Cannon Street, parts of the roads will be closed over the next few weeks: Aug. 15 to 17: The intersection of Queen Street North and Cannon Street West will be closed twice later this month. First starting Friday for Stage 1 of remodelling of the intersection. Cannon Street West and York Boulevard will be reduced to one lane, while Queen Street North will be closed at the intersection. Aug. 21 to 24: For Stage 2, Queen Street will be turned into a two-way road from Cannon Street West to Barton Street West. That stretch of Queen Street will also be closed during that time. Aug. 18 to 22: York Boulevard will close from Dundurn Street to Bay Street North for concrete work. The city said work will start daily at 9 a.m. "to minimize impact on rush hour traffic." York Boulevard will also have one eastbound lane open each night. The work on these roads is weather-dependent, the city said. Sherman Access closed this weekend The Sherman Access will fully close for around 36 hours on Aug 16 and 17 for maintenance and a streetlight pole replacement. The road will close at 8 a.m. on Saturday and reopen at 8 p.m. on Sunday. "Traffic will be detoured to the Jolly Cut and Kenilworth accesses," the city said. The intersection of Wilson and Wentworth streets will also close for 11 days on Aug. 18 for a "complete reconstruction." Wilson Street will close at Ashley Street, while Wentworth Street N. will close from King Street E. to Century Street. Local traffic will be impacted temporarily, the city said. The roads are set to reopen Aug. 29. McMurray Street in Dundas will close for nearly two months starting September 2 to Oct. 30. for a bridge reconstruction, the city said. The street will be fully closed between Hope Street and Hatt Street.
