'Love you Namjoon': BTS' RM shares heartbreaking stories about military, problems at HYBE; ARMY sends virtual hugs and healing

Time of India11-06-2025
Just a day earlier, on June 10, BTS members RM and V were officially discharged from their mandatory military service. While fans across the globe rejoiced at their return, it was RM's emotional reflections that quickly captured widespread attention — especially after he went live to speak directly to ARMY.
After greeting ARMY upon his discharge, BTS leader RM aka Kim Namjoon went live later that night to connect with fans on a deeper level. His candid remarks about his military experience — and how the ongoing tension at HYBE had affected him — sparked a wave of reactions online, including heartfelt sympathy and growing frustration directed at things that contributed to his struggles.
RM speaks about the HYBE conflict
During the livestream, RM spoke openly about the physical and emotional toll his military service had taken on him. He revealed that amid corporate unrest at HYBE — particularly around April and May of the previous year, just before the release of his solo album Right Place, Wrong Person — he began suffering from severe insomnia.
"Last year, the company went through a lot," he shared. "Around April and May, before RPWP came out, I was struck with insomnia. In the military, you're sleeping with 20 other guys, right next to you — snoring, grinding their teeth. There was a time I didn't get a single minute of sleep for two days — almost 78 hours. I remember thinking, 'Oh, I'm going to die at this rate.' I had to keep up with the daily schedule, but I was running on nothing. I'd lie down, but I just couldn't fall asleep. Those with insomnia know what I mean — you're exhausted, but the sleep never comes."
🐨: To be honest I'm still scared of the night even now. I'm scared of the fact that I have to sleep. Lying down and being still for 3 to 4 hours is truly hell.🐨: Hence even now I'm scared of the night. Also there were a lot of times when I came out on vacation, drank a lot and… https://t.co/pf7PDOz7vr pic.twitter.com/AMwG7fWSJi
The timing of RM's struggles aligned with a particularly chaotic period for HYBE, including the still-unfolding conflict with ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin and her group NewJeans — further deepening fans' concern over how much external pressure he may have been under.
RM's take on military life
He also opened up about the psychological toll of his service, admitting that he frequently questioned his own resilience while trying to maintain perspective. RM shared that even now, the experience continues to impact him.
"I've always been sensitive, and I've accepted that about myself. But while I was in the military, I kept asking, 'Why are you so weak? Haven't you been through worse? Why are you struggling now — with sleep, with military life?' I kept telling myself to be better, to be stronger. I used to be so optimistic… I was Mr. 'Why Not?' But that doesn't really work in the army. I'm trying to bounce back."
🐨: At the training camp our officers asked me to take care of Taehyung. Because Taehyung is such a unique and lovable guy, like you know how he lives in his own world?🐨: Meanwhile I'm sensitive and read the room a lot so I'm more alert/sharp in that way.🐨: We are both squad… pic.twitter.com/auzHiKDGJl
ARMY express support — and frustration
Clips from RM's livestream quickly went viral, sparking widespread concern over what he had silently endured. Many questioned whether his struggles were intensified not only by the demanding conditions of military life but also by the internal turmoil within HYBE — the very company meant to support him.
In the wake of the broadcast, fans flooded social media with an outpouring of love, virtual hugs, and unwavering support. Yet, alongside the empathy came frustration — directed not just at the harsh realities of military service, but also at figures like Min Hee Jin, whose conflict with HYBE unfolded during the same turbulent period.

Watch: One-hand lift challenge gets steamy as Lili Reinhart and Tom Bateman bring The Love Hypothesis Wattpad fantasies to life

Wattpad-inspired stories have quickly become the new wave in screen adaptations. With hits like Netflix's My Life With the Walter Boys and Amazon Prime Video's Culpable trilogy drawing in young adult romance fans, the next title set to grab the spotlight is The Love Hypothesis. Based on Ali Hazelwood's bestselling novel, the film was announced last month with Lili Reinhart and Tom Bateman leading the cast. Production has only just begun, but the Riverdale alum is already stirring excitement online, teasing just enough to keep audiences eager for what's coming. Lili recently shared a new video that feels like it was pulled straight from a Wattpad daydream, instantly sparking a frenzy across social media. And if you're just as curious as we are, here's a breakdown of everything to know about the upcoming movie—from the cast to the swoon-worthy story it's bringing to life. What is The Love Hypothesis about? The Love Hypothesis follows Olive Smith, a Ph.D. student who doesn't believe in love until a spontaneous kiss with her aloof professor, Adam Carlsen, leads to a fake-dating arrangement that gradually turns into something real. The 2021 bestselling romance novel by Ali Hazelwood captivated readers with its blend of academic banter, witty humour, and swoon-worthy chemistry. The movie adaptation is being produced by Amazon MGM Studios and MRC, directed by Claire Scanlon with a screenplay by Sarah Rothschild, starring Lili Reinhart as Olive and Tom Bateman as Adam. The film is set to stream on Prime Video upon release. How Lili Reinhart has been feeding fans with BTS content The film has just gone into production, so there are high chances it won't be released until 2026, but Lili Reinhart has been doing just enough to keep fans around, dropping BTS videos and photos that do just enough to tease a twisted yet fresh romance that romance lovers love to devour. Recently, she shared a new video featuring her in a dreamy red dress and him in a sleek all-black suit, highlighting their contrasting personalities. In a standout moment, he lifts her effortlessly with just one hand, recreating the viral one-hand lift challenge, a move that social media has already crowned a trendsetter. Earlier, she posted another clip taking on the couple's question challenge. Though the challenge has been around for a while, fans couldn't stop raving about the undeniable chemistry between them, praising both the cast and their perfect on-screen pairing. okay maybe MAYBE i'll give the love hypothesis movie a chance How are fans reacting on social media Fans have taken to social media to gush over the couple's chemistry, and with the book already boasting a massive fanbase, the movie has instantly become a must-watch. While book-to-screen adaptations aren't always critically acclaimed, this one is shaping up to be an exception and is definitely worth keeping an eye on. okay maybe MAYBE i'll give the love hypothesis movie a chance okay maybe MAYBE i'll give the love hypothesis movie a chance BRO! i need the love hypothesis like now… also lili is marketing TF out of this movie, I LOVE IT can I just say that lili reinhart is absolutely nailing gen z style marketing for the love hypothesis with each new TikTok I feel more and more sold on this casting. genuinely cannot wait for this adaptation!! The lore behind The Love Hypothesis The Love Hypothesis originally began as a fanfiction titled Head Over Feet, inspired by the 'Reylo' ship—romantic fan interpretations of Rey and Kylo Ren from the Star Wars sequel trilogy. In the fanfic, the characters were Rey and Kylo Ren, but Ali Hazelwood reworked them into Olive Smith, a third-year Ph.D. student, and Dr. Adam Carlsen, her grumpy professor, for the published novel. Olive's character is loosely based on Daisy Ridley's Rey, while Adam Carlsen reflects Adam Driver's Kylo Ren. Interestingly, in the upcoming film adaptation, Adam Carlsen is played by Tom Bateman, who is married to Daisy Ridley, adding a meta layer to the casting. Isn't it fascinating?

Did BLACKPINK really sell out Wembley Stadium? Amid comparisons with Taylor Swift and BTS, empty seat videos go viral

BLACKPINK's Jisoo, Jennie, Rose and Lisa made history with their ongoing DEADLINE world tour, as they performed two back-to-back shows (August 15 and August 16) at London's iconic Wembley Stadium, a venue long associated with musical legends like Michael Jackson, Madonna, Queen, Oasis, Taylor Swift and the Spice Girls. With a seating capacity of 90,000, Wembley is often seen as the ultimate benchmark for global artists — and the girl group's name is now etched among those who have taken its stage. But the big question fans are now debating online is whether BLACKPINK truly sold out the stadium. Their long-time rivals BTS famously sold out Wembley in 2019, according to multiple Korean media outlets. While reports quickly claimed BLACKPINK matched the feat, videos circulating on X tell a different story. Clips allegedly show staff covering large patches of empty seats with black fabric, sparking speculation that the shows may not have been complete sellouts after all. Did BLACKPINK cover empty seats at Wembley Stadium? If you've spent any time on K-pop Twitter (now X), you'll know that stans often put more energy into dragging rival groups than cheering for their own. So when headlines claimed BLACKPINK had sold out London's iconic Wembley Stadium, it didn't take long for sceptics to start posting 'receipts'. One viral clip showed staff members covering rows of seats with black fabric and allegedly relocating fans to other areas. In a TikTok video, a concertgoer asked, 'Wembley/BLACKPINK N1, what's going on? The whole of section 126 is covered even though we all bought seats in that section with no explanation.' The fan went on to claim that two full sections had been cut off without notice, forcing attendees to visit customer service and get reassigned to unsold seats. Another user piled on, writing, 'BLACKPINK failed to sell out Wembley Stadium, as the agency is covering up the empty seats with big black curtains! Despite the media's play and buy-one-get-one-free promos, they still couldn't sell it out!' 🚨 BLACKPINK failed to sell out Wembley Stadium as the agency is covering up the empty seats with big black curtains! Despite the mediaplay and buy one to get one free they still couldn't sell it out! Congratulations Blackpink [🚨] During Blackpink's concert at Wembley Stadium, some seats were covered and fans were moved to unsold seats. Several other fans also claimed that their seats got upgraded due to unsold arenas and tickets, with many wondering if the group should have planned only one night at the iconic stadium. The BTS vs BLACKPINK debate intensifies: What's the truth? A BBC report stated that BLACKPINK's first night at Wembley drew an audience of around 70,000 fans — a strong turnout, but not the full 90,000 capacity that was widely circulated online. Interestingly, this isn't the first time confusion has surrounded the numbers at Wembley. When BTS performed at the same venue in 2019 for their Love Yourself World Tour, the BBC similarly reported an audience of about 60,000, even though fans insisted they had sold out all 90,000 seats. Notably, BTS were the first K-pop group to headline Wembley. So why the discrepancy? It's important to understand that 'stadium capacity' figures can be misleading. While Wembley's maximum seating is listed as 90,000, not all of those seats are typically made available for concerts. Large-scale productions like K-pop tours involve massive stages, extended runways, lighting rigs, and camera equipment that take up significant space. Entire sections can be blocked off for technical setups, safety regulations, or restricted-view seating. In some cases, promoters deliberately close off sections to improve the overall fan experience, ensuring that the audience is concentrated closer to the stage rather than scattered across the stadium. This means that while artists can proudly say they've performed at Wembley, the 'sell-out' number often refers to the tickets that were actually released for sale—not the absolute maximum of 90,000 seats. As a result, both BLACKPINK's 70,000 and BTS's 60,000 still represent massive, history-making crowds, even if the raw capacity figure paints a different picture.
