Ghost of Yotei finally got a detailed gameplay showcase at PlayStation's latest State of Play. The upcoming PS5 exclusive, set to release on October 2, builds on Ghost of Tsushima but brings new ideas to the table. The biggest changes are in how players explore the world, pick quests and fight enemies.
Sucker Punch showed over 20 minutes of new footage, highlighting how the game lets you track clues, hunt bandits, and survive as Atsu, a lone mercenary seeking revenge. She's not a samurai or ninja like Jin from the original. She's on her own path, using whatever it takes to win.
Clue-based exploration and bounty system
Instead of just marking a spot on the map, Ghost of Yotei uses a clue system. Defeated enemies can give you information, leading to new locations and quests. Clues show up on cards so you can track what you've learned. This makes exploration more active and personal.

As Atsu's story grows, so does her reputation. A bounty gets placed on her head, attracting hunters who will track her down. She can also collect bounties and take out outlaws for rewards. This adds tension to every part of the world and makes traveling feel more dangerous and real.
New weapons, allies and ways to fight
Combat looks even better this time. Atsu can fight with katana, odachi, spear, kusarigama or dual swords. Each weapon works differently against certain enemies. She also has bows, rifles, bombs and other throwables. The old grappling hook returns, and now there's a spyglass to spot enemies from far away.

She's not alone either. Atsu will have allies in the game, including a mysterious wolf companion. Players can also build camps anywhere in the wild to rest, cook, and talk to characters who help upgrade your gear. The world feels alive and reactive.
Lo-fi mode and tribute to filmmakers
Ghost of Yotei continues the visual creativity of the first game with three special modes. Kurosawa Mode returns, turning everything black and white in tribute to the famous director. But now there are two more.

Miiko Mode brings the camera closer during fights and adds more intense blood and mud effects. Then there's Lo-fi Mode, inspired by Shinichirō Watanabe. It adds chilled music and soft sounds while you explore. The tracks are made by Watanabe himself, adding a calm, dreamy feeling to the world. This mode lets you enjoy peaceful moments just by walking through the landscape.

I don't exactly remember when or how I became so interested in listening to guided meditation podcasts before bed. It's been a couple of months now, and every night I tune in to a different meditation podcast with my earbuds on. It's the last thing I do to help myself relax after a long day at work, especially in a profession like mine, where information overload can easily lead to anxiety. During this time, I realised just how important a quality pair of wireless earbuds can be, which made me appreciate Sony's new WF-C710N even more. They are great for travel, on planes, and whether I am working in the office or at home and need to focus, I love being able to shut out the outside world. Nothing comes close to the WF-C710N. They make me feel locked away from the chaos and completely immersed in whatever I am listening to. That's exactly what I have always wanted from wireless earbuds. What: Sony WF-C710N| Price: Rs 12,990 I am a huge fan of translucent tech. I grew up in the '90s and saw how brands, including Sony, experimented with see-through designs in their products, from the Walkman to the PlayStation. That aesthetic was all the rage back in the day, and now it's making a comeback. It's great to see Sony embracing the trend with its own modern spin. The WF-C710N comes in a glass blue, semi-translucent shell for both the buds and the charging case, clear enough to let you catch a glimpse of what's inside. The design instantly reminded me of the 'cool' gadgets I always aspired to own as a kid but couldn't afford, like the Apple iMac G3 and the Game Boy, which I eventually bought years later. The see-through nature of these earbuds makes them distinct, personal, and nostalgic all at once. The case design feels premium, exactly what you would expect from Sony but it's also playful and fun to look at, almost like a toy. It felt cool to use and even cooler to show to friends, who were both delighted and a bit confused by its design. I love how the magnets inside the case hold the earbuds securely in place. The USB-C charging port is located on the back, along with the Bluetooth pairing button. There's also a pairing/power indicator LED on the front and subtle branding on the top. The case is not too big and not too small either, it's somewhere in the middle, and light enough that I completely forgot I had it in my shorts during a run the other day. It does lack Qi wireless charging, however. That said, the earbuds come with a decent-sized battery that offers up to 21.5 hours of audio playback with ANC turned on. The shape of the buds themselves is very Sony-like and quite different from AirPods. They have a unique design but sit comfortably in the ears. For some, the buds might feel a bit on the heavier side and may not be the best choice for running. I opted for a different size of eartips (Sony includes multiple sizes) to ensure a more secure fit, and they stay in place even during brisk walks. It's always best to try them all to get the most secure fit as this will impact both the audio quality and noise cancellation. Each bud weighs 5.3 grams, and the earpieces have an IPX4 rating, so they will easily withstand splashes of water and sweat. There are wear-detect sensors on each earbud, along with capacitive touch sensors that can be remapped in the app. You will notice two ANC microphones behind the grills, plus two voice pickup microphones: one on each side. By default, the left earpiece controls noise cancellation modes: a single tap cycles between Noise Cancellation and Ambient Sound (which lets you hear your surroundings), and a long press activates Quick Attention mode, which turns on Ambient Sound temporarily. The right earbud controls playback: a single tap plays or pauses audio, a double tap skips to the next track, a triple tap goes back to the previous track, and a long press activates your voice assistant. Pairing with any Android smartphone is as simple as opening the case near the device and tapping 'Pair.' For Apple products, just hold the pairing button for a few seconds, then select 'Sony WF-C710N' in the Bluetooth settings. There's a basic companion app available for both Android and iOS. The app interface is, to be honest, pretty minimal. I wouldn't call it barebones, but it could definitely have more features and a more easy to use design. The app offers seven EQ presets: Balanced, Vocal, Mellow, Relaxed, Treble Boost, Bass Boost, and Speech. I found myself using the Balanced, Vocal, and Excited presets the most. You can also customise your own EQ using the 'Find Your Equaliser' feature. I am no audiophile (maybe someday I will get there), but I have reviewed enough earbuds and headphones to tell the difference between a Rs1,000 pair and one that costs Rs12,999. That said, audio is still a very subjective experience, no two people hear or prefer sound in the same way. The WF-C710N sounds really good. I listen to a wide range of music, rock, hip-hop, R&B, pop, dance and the WF-C710N handles everything with ease. When listening to Jelani Aryeh's I'm in Love, the track sounds rich, crisp, and natural. The stereo separation on these earbuds is excellent, and everything just sounds stunning, with a clarity that makes listening to music an absolute joy. They are not very bass-heavy, but you surely get deep bass. What truly sets these wireless earbuds apart, regardless of price, is the signature Sony sound. As I mentioned earlier, I listen to a lot of podcasts, whether it's during my morning walks or meditation sessions at night. For spoken word content, the WF-C710N is absolutely terrific. These earphones make listening to anything vocal feel truly special. Watching movies and videos with these earbuds is also a pleasant experience, especially when viewing content on an iPhone or iPad. The WF-C710N supports only AAC and SBC codecs, and not the higher-resolution LDAC codec, unlike some higher-end Sony models. The fit of the buds does a decent job of canceling external noise, especially higher frequencies and incidental sounds. The earbuds handle city traffic noise fairly well, which is something many of us deal with daily. The noise cancellation doesn't eliminate noise as effectively as Sony's high-end WF-1000XM5 or Apple's AirPods Pro 2, but those options come at a higher price. Music and podcast sound better with noice cancellation and ambient sound (I am not particularly fond of this mode on these earbuds) off. That's my observation. I found microphones on the WF-C710N deliver clear phone calls. People on the other end said they could hear me clearly. I will confess, when I first started using the WF-C710N, they didn't immediately impress me. It took a few good days to truly realise how well Sony designed these wireless earbuds. They aren't the most high-end earbuds on the market, and that's perfectly fine. You could argue that many other brands sell wireless earbuds at half the price what Sony offers. And I totally agree. However, the truth is, nothing quite comes close to the audio quality the WF-C710N delivers, especially with that neutral sound signature. It's honestly hard to describe in words. Look, price doesn't matter as much when you are getting this much value, and that's true for any product. In the end, the choice is yours. The Rugby League 26 video game was launched on July 17 earlier this month and the last ten days have seen rugby players association taking up the matter with Elliot being the first to criticise the game over the looks and ratings of the players. Elliot, who is married to NRL player Adam Elliot, rated that her character 'looked nothing like her'. '(Adam) sent me the photo of my character and I will say it looks absolutely nothing like me. It looks nothing like me. Adam looks like his own doppelganger. It looks exactly like him. And also, apparently I've been rated out of 100 (at) 53. I don't know if that's good? So that's not very good apparently. That's an insult? Right, OK. So firstly it looks nothing like me and secondly, I'm the sh**test footy player on there. You'd think with AI and all this technology these days, that they could get it looking a little similar,' Elliot told Triple M. The Rugby League 26 Video Game was first announced by the NRL on June 25 earlier this year and was released on July 17 this month over different gaming platforms like Playstation, Xbox and personal computers. With the game's producing studio Big Ant Studios developing the game and undertaking the facial scans of the players apart from other data in association with the NRL over the last few weeks, the game has seen a lot of glitches since its launch including lag time as well discrepancies in terms of facial features well as player's ratings. Apart from Elliot, who also complained about her ratings, Eels star Kennedy Cherrington was also critical of the game. 'This might seem petty, but as a player that features in the new RL26 game, I'm not happy. Maybe we should just be grateful that we're in the game but overall I know the fans aren't happy too. From the facial scans to the player ratings & even the gameplay nahhh. I was so keen to get sweaty on the game this weekend! But it's put me off. That update better be incoming soon haha.' Cherrington posted on X earlier. As per Australian media, players scans were done between games and more scans are set to take place in the next week's NRLW Magic Round in NewCastle with other scans in NRL also scheduled to take place later in the year. As per Sydney Morning Herald, the Rugby League Players Association has privately questioned the roll out of the video game followed by the player complaints in recent days. 'The first part is obviously remedying the issues and the concerns [with the game], and having the NRL work with us. And then any activation that involved player IP use, particularly on this scale that obviously impacts the way this has, that requires involvement and inclusion [of players] up front. That's the learning from this.' Newton told Sydney Morning Herald. As per the paper, some of the clubs and players did not know about the facial scans to be done during the past few weeks. When contacted by Sydney Morning Herald, the studio's chief executive Ross Symons talked about the issue. 'We went to great lengths to capture NRL and NRLW players in person. The ongoing legal conflict between K-pop girl group NJZ (formerly NewJeans) and their agency ADOR continues to escalate, with a third court hearing held on July 24 at the Seoul Central District Court. The session concluded with both parties agreeing to a closed-door mediation meeting scheduled for August 14. The dispute first emerged in November 2023, when the five-member group, represented by legal counsel, moved to terminate their exclusive contract with ADOR. The agency has since challenged this move, leading to a legal standoff that has brought intense scrutiny to both sides and to former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin, whose role has become central to the narrative. NJZ's lawyers claim the roots of the dispute lie in an audit launched by ADOR's parent company HYBE in April 2024. According to them, the internal investigation unfairly targeted Min, accusing her of attempting to take control of the group – charges that, they argue, lacked credible evidence. 'This legal fight began because HYBE launched an audit against Min Hee Jin in April 2024. They claimed she was trying to seize management control and 'take' NewJeans, but there was no evidence in the audit or grounds for dismissal," the group's legal team stated. 'The main issue was an alleged breach of duty, and in the midst of it all, NewJeans suffered the most. Police later found no evidence of Min Hee Jin committing a breach of duty." The group's lawyers further alleged that the agency's leadership has shifted significantly, saying, 'Today's ADOR is not the same ADOR that led to our past success. It's now controlled by HYBE staff… We can't trust ADOR anymore, which is why we can't return to it in its current state." ADOR's legal representatives, however, pushed back strongly. They argued that NJZ's stance has shifted since the start of the dispute, describing their attempt to leave as 'an unreasonable attempt to invalidate the contracts after the fact." ADOR emphasized that over 21 billion won (approximately $15.3 million) had been invested into the group, including 7 billion on their debut album and 2 billion on music videos. The agency attributed NJZ's rapid rise to careful planning and strategic support, arguing that the group's decision to exit just two years after debut is unfair. ADOR also accused Min Hee-jin of orchestrating the group's departure, citing alleged private messages that outlined a plan to claim plagiarism against HYBE's newer girl group, Illit, and manipulate media coverage. ADOR further alleged that the contract termination letter was prepared by Min's legal team. In the face of allegations of mismanagement, ADOR maintained that it met its obligations and revealed that each member had earned more than 5 billion won individually. 'The agency is still preparing for the group's comeback," said their legal representative. 'Our staff are waiting for the day they return."
