CM Yogi Adityanath says religious conversions a deep conspiracy, won't be tolerated
Yogi referred to the recent case of Balrampur where a large-scale illegal conversion racket backed by foreign funding was unearthed.
The CM revealed that the suspicious transactions of over Rs 100 crore was found across 40 accounts with pre-determined 'rates' for conversion. He termed it a grave threat to economic and social security of the state and the nation.
'Some forces are deliberately trying to alter the fundamental character of the country through unlawful conversions. This is an attack on social cohesion and cannot be tolerated under any circumstances,' the CM said while addressing the flagging-off ceremony of Shri Tegh Bahadur Sandesh Yatra dedicated to 350th Shaheedi Varsh of the Sikh Guru.
Yogi underlined that marginalised communities, particularly Scheduled Castes, were being lured and coerced into changing their religion. He emphasised that such acts were against the spirit of the Constitution and the principle of social equality.
The Yatra, which commenced from Lucknow, will pass through Kanpur, Etawah, and Agra before culminating at Chandni Chowk and the historic Sheeshganj Gurudwara in Delhi—the site of Guru Tegh Bahadur's martyrdom. A commemorative memento was also presented to the CM to mark the occasion.

The federal agency, in a statement, said the laboratory was manufacturing Mephedrone (4-Methylmethcathinone), also known as MD. Searches at a flat in Dream Homes Apartments, Ridhi Sindhi Enclave, in the district led to the seizure of 780 gms of the drug, it said. According to narcotics experts, MD is a synthetic stimulant drug in the cathinone family, which gives a feeling of euphoria immediately after consumption, but is addictive and continuous use causes severe psychological and health conditions. The arrested duo The NCB arrested two — Indrajeet Vishnoi, 35, physics teacher at a private school and coaching centre till last year and a Rajasthan Administrative Services (RAS) aspirant, and Manoj Bhargav, 25, a science teacher at the Government Senior Secondary School in Muklawa, Sri Ganganagar. NCB officials said the duo had taken the flat on rent about two months ago, and they had sourced the chemicals and equipment from Delhi. What was found in the flat? Drugs worth Rs 15 crore sold in over 2 months Of the 5 kg made, 4.22 kg had already been sold. The NCB recovered 780 grams during the raid. This batch alone has a market value of Rs 2.34 crore. Mephedrone, also known as 4-methylmethcathinone (4-MMC), is a synthetic stimulant drug that is chemically similar to cathinone, a substance found in the khat plant. It's often classified as a 'designer drug' and was once part of the group known as 'bath salts'. It's typically found in the form of a white powder or crystals, and it can be swallowed, snorted, injected, or even bummed (rectal use). It stimulates the central nervous system and produces effects similar to MDMA (ecstasy), amphetamines, and cocaine. Short-term side effects include nausea and vomiting, anxiety, paranoia, or panic attacks, insomnia, agitation or aggression, headaches, loss of appetite. More serious/long-term risks include heart problems, seizures, risk of addiction and tolerance, mental health issues, damage to the nose or veins, hyperthermia, risky behaviour. Overdose is possible and can be life-threatening. What is Breaking Bad? Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader C. Sadanandan, 61, a retired teacher from Kannur and a survivor of brutal political attack in the 1990s, has been nominated to the Rajya Sabha under Article 80(3) of the Constitution, which allows the President to nominate individuals with expertise in education, social service, and other key sectors. Mr. Sadanandan told mediapersons in Kannur on Sunday that the proposal was part of the BJP's efforts to implement its slogan of a 'developed Kerala'. 'The party has high hopes for Kerala. This proposal is a step towards fulfilling those hopes,' he said, describing it as not only a personal honour but also a recognition for the State. He said the BJP Central leadership had always bestowed 'special attention' on Kerala regardless of its electoral success in the State. Modi's call Mr. Sadanandan said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called him two days ago. 'He said the party would delegate me a task. I found out about it only this morning,' he added. He said the BJP's Central approach was not hindered by electoral losses in Kerala. 'That is not seen as a big issue or obstacle. Policies are being formulated for Kerala's development,' he said. Mr. Sadanandan, a native of Perincheri, was a teacher at Sree Durga Vilasam Higher Secondary School in Thrissur. His social engagements began at the age of 17 through Nehru Yuva Kendra and continued through organisations such as Bharatiya Vichara Kendra and Sri Parvathi Jana Seva Samithi. He also served as the State president of the Desiya Adhyapaka Parishad and Chief Editor of Desiya Adhyapaka Vartha for 15 years. Double amputee At the age of 30, Mr. Sadanandan underwent double amputation below the knees, following an attack allegedly perpetrated by CPI(M) workers in 1994. He continues to remain active in public life using prosthetic limbs. Mr. Sadanandan's elevation to the Raja Sabha is seen within BJP circle as a strategic move to energise the party base in Kerala while honouring a lifetime of ideological commitment and public service.
