Oklahoma football picked for upsets over Texas, Tennessee by SEC podcast.
The measuring stick for what qualifies a win as an upset depends on perspective. That's especially true for predicted college football upsets this time of year, when teams are in the midst of spring camp.
Although the Oklahoma Sooners are coming off their worst season since 1998, Sooners fans may consider any SEC win for their favorite team an upset.
To make things a bit more concrete, That SEC Podcast picked their 10 most likely upsets in league play this season and Oklahoma owns two of them. That's more than any other team in the SEC.
To be clear, OU is predicted to pull off an upset. The man known as SEC Mike (Michael Bratton) has OU-over-Texas as his No. 2 most likely upset and OU-over-Tennessee as his No. 8.
If you ask Oklahoma football fans which two teams they most want to beat on the schedule in 2025, Texas and Tennessee are likely to be two of the top three, if not the top two, period.
The Longhorns rolled over OU 35-3 last season. Two weeks before, the Volunteers provided the Sooners with their first loss, 27-17. These were the first two losses of Oklahoma's season, a season in which Brent Venables and his team finished 6-7.
Bratton initially published the post on April 1, April Fool's Day. It's accordingly unclear whether he thinks the upsets are going to happen or if they are just his most likely upsets to happen, sans guarantee. Regardless, the suggestion itself that the Sooners could be even modestly likely to change their fortunes against either program likely has OU fans feeling at least a little better.
On the flip side, Bratton's pinned post on X is of his SEC Power Rankings. It's from January, so plenty has changed, but the Sooners are No. 14 in the 16-team league. They're one spot ahead of Kentucky and one spot behind Arkansas.
Oklahoma will play Texas on Oct. 11 in its second SEC game of the year and will play Tennessee on Nov. 1 in its fifth.

Four Alabama players named to Sporting News 2025 preseason All-America Team

Announced on Wednesday, four Alabama Crimson Tide players were named to the 2025 Sporting News preseason All-America team to include defensive tackle Tim Keenan III, wide receiver Ryan Williams, offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor, and offensive guard Jaeden Roberts. Of the four, Williams and Keenan received preseason First Team honors, while Proctor and Roberts were named to the Second Team. Tide fans can look forward to big time plays from this elite group! Ryan Williams is an 18-year-old sophomore who had a breakout freshman season. He caught 48 passes for 865 yards to include 4 touchdowns. Ryan is a dynamic presence who stretches the field and makes acrobatic catches. Tim Keenan III is a run stuffing defensive tackle who anchors Alabama's defensive line. He had 7.5 TFL last year and shows relentless effort breaking up double teams. Tim routinely collapses the pocket and puts pressure on the quarterback. Kadyn Proctor is a massive offensive tackle who will protect Ty Simpson's blind side. He is 6'7 366 lbs, and is one of the top offensive line draft prospects in this upcoming class. Kadyn earned Second Team All-SEC last year from the coaches. Jaeden Roberts is a 6'5 327 offensive guard who is long and physical. He was named to the Outland Trophy watch list alongside Proctor. Expect the Alabama ball carriers to run well behind this physical presence! New Notre Dame forward Carson Towt already making his presence felt on the hardwood

New Notre Dame big man Carson Towt has already raised expectations for the 2025-26 men's basketball team. After a tough first two seasons under head coach Micah Shrewsberry, the Fighting Irish went into the transfer portal to bring in the power forward from Northern Arizona of the Big Sky Conference to help replace the loss of Tae Davis to Oklahoma. The 6-foot-8, 235-pound Towt was a rebounding machine with the Lumberjacks and has already impressed on the court this summer in South Bend. He was the nation's leading rebounder last season at 12.4 per game, including 3.5 on the offensive glass. Towt was a late bloomer, as he excelled as a high school guard until a growth walked on at NAU and increased his size while getting comfortable in his new frame, and his numbers went from 5.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game as a freshman to 13.3 points and the nation-leading 12.4 rebounds in 2024-25 while connecting on 53.1 percent of his field goals. Towt chose Notre Dame over Baylor, Iowa, Xavier and Washington State. He has been compared to former Irish great Luke Harangody. If he can be even half as efficient as Harangody, the Irish made a shrewd move in the portal. South Carolina coach Shane Beamer reminisces on his time at Oklahoma

Shane Beamer's genes helped get his foot in the door as a college football coach. His time at Oklahoma, though, set him up for his first head-coaching job. Beamer, entering his fifth year running the program at South Carolina, joined the "Dari Nowkhah Show" on KREF in Norman this week and spoke about his time with the Sooners. Beamer served as OU's assistant head coach and tight ends coach from 2018-2020. "Just so cool to be a part of a program that has so much tradition," Beamer said. "To be able to come into that building each day and drive past all those Heisman Trophy statues and see all the conference championships, it was a really cool experience for me." He left after his three seasons with the Sooners, as South Carolina needed a head coach after firing Will Muschamp during the 2020 season. Beamer has taken the Gamecocks to three bowls in his four seasons and most recently finished with his best year yet as South Carolina finished 9-4 and beat Clemson in the regular season finale. Expectations are even higher this year as the Gamecocks found themselves ranked No. 13 in the first USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll released earlier this week. Oklahoma, incidentally, checked in a de facto 26th, picking up the most points for the Top 25 without achieving a ranking. "We loved our time out there. We really did," Beamer said. "I took that job sight unseen when Lincoln called me. The only time I had ever been in the state of Oklahoma was in 1991. I was a freshman in high school, and Virginia Tech came out there and played Oklahoma. I didn't step foot in Norman, Oklahoma again until I literally arrived until I literally arrived to take the job." Beamer's current school will play his former on October 18 at South Carolina.
