Four Alabama players named to Sporting News 2025 preseason All-America Team
Of the four, Williams and Keenan received preseason First Team honors, while Proctor and Roberts were named to the Second Team. Tide fans can look forward to big time plays from this elite group!
Ryan Williams is an 18-year-old sophomore who had a breakout freshman season. He caught 48 passes for 865 yards to include 4 touchdowns. Ryan is a dynamic presence who stretches the field and makes acrobatic catches.
Tim Keenan III is a run stuffing defensive tackle who anchors Alabama's defensive line. He had 7.5 TFL last year and shows relentless effort breaking up double teams. Tim routinely collapses the pocket and puts pressure on the quarterback.
Kadyn Proctor is a massive offensive tackle who will protect Ty Simpson's blind side. He is 6'7 366 lbs, and is one of the top offensive line draft prospects in this upcoming class. Kadyn earned Second Team All-SEC last year from the coaches.
Jaeden Roberts is a 6'5 327 offensive guard who is long and physical. He was named to the Outland Trophy watch list alongside Proctor. Expect the Alabama ball carriers to run well behind this physical presence!

Chicago Cubs fans react to Wrigley Field's 2027 All-Star Game announcement. But what about tickets?
The MLB All-Star Game is returning to Wrigley Field in 2027 for the fourth time and first in 37 years. The festivities are still two years away, but fans at Tuesday's Cubs game were looking forward to seeing the sport's best players in Chicago. 'I'm really excited,' said Sean Healy, 56, who lives in Los Angeles but travels to Chicago for games. 'I've been to the World Series, I've been to playoff games here. Never been to an All-Star Game.' The 2027 game will be the eighth time the Midsummer Classic takes place in Chicago. The most recent was on July 15, 2003, at U.S. Cellular Field. Led by two scoreless innings from Sox right-hander Esteban Loaiza, the American League won 7-6 and gained home-field advantage for the World Series. Wrigley last hosted the MLB All-Stars in 1990, with previous games in 1947 and 1962. The last outing was remembered for a 68-minute rain delay and a lack of offense in the AL's 2-0 win. Cubs Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg won the Home Run Derby. 'We're pretty old-school, so we like old Wrigley,' Debra Brooks, 69, said Tuesday. 'We used to always enjoy coming early to catch the balls and things like that.' Cubs fans made way-too-early predictions that center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong will be present for the 2027 All-Star Game, along with shout-outs to other Cubs. Not mentioned were rookie third baseman Matt Shaw, who homered Tuesday, or left-hander Shota Imanaga, who had seven strikeouts in a quality start in the 5-1 loss. 'Hopefully Michael Busch by that time will be there, (Seiya) Suzuki will get his first nod and maybe Cade Horton and (Matthew) Boyd,' Healy said. Added Brooks: 'Not as exciting as a World Series, but it will be really cool. It's probably going to be really hard to get tickets.' The 2025 All-Star Game at the Atlanta Braves' Truist Park sold out in a blink of an eye — despite the cost. The get-in price was $220 for standing room only, while seats ranged from $260 to more than $2,500. Wrigley Field, which holds 41,649 fans, likely won't be any more generous when it comes to ticket prices. But that won't faze die-hard Cubs fans. 'I don't really have ticket shock,' Healy said. 'I paid $3,000 to sit in the bleachers for Game 3 of the World Series and I paid $2,800 on opening night in Tokyo. I won't go above those numbers though — $3,000 World Series is my threshold.' It was a long, drawn-out fight to bring the All-Star Game back to the Friendly Confines. MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred pointed to a planned $32.1 million security improvement, which includes installing bollards and widening sidewalks, as the reason Wrigley won the bid. 'It really is important for us and it was important for securing the game,' Manfred said in the Aug. 1 announcement. Added Gov. JB Pritzker, who was also in attendance: 'What makes the city and state so welcoming is the kindness and the uplifting spirit of our people. So to all the baseball fans out there, we can't wait to welcome you to the great city of Chicago.' Chicago is used to hosting big events, including Lollapalooza last weekend and the NASCAR Chicago Street Race over the Fourth of July weekend. When the baseball world descends upon Wrigleyville for the 2027 event, Cubs faithful believe the area can handle the rush. 'We've got to remember that we're in a neighborhood, so there's so much that you can do,' Healy said. 'I think for people who have never been here before or have always wanted to come, it'll be very special, especially with all the events that they plan and the MLB experience.' It won't matter if it's Aaron Judge, Shohei Ohtani, Cal Raleigh or any other All-Star who plays at Wrigley Field. Cubs fans will be there and they'll say the same thing: Finally.

'It put a chip on my shoulder': Texas A&M LB reflects on Texas recruiting snub
On Tuesday, Netflix released its much-anticipated college football series, "SEC Football: Any Given Saturday," which featured several SEC teams' journey during the 2024 college football season, including Texas A&M. While LSU, Vanderbilt, and South Carolina were heavily features, the revival of the Lone Star Showdown after the Texas Longhorns entered the SEC last summer was the primary focus during the second to final episode. However, Aggie fans have correctly pointed out that, outside of LSU's 38-23 loss in Kyle Field, every game Texas A&M was featured in was one of the team's five losses, including South Carolina and Auburn, two games that essentially ended A&M's College Football Playoff hopes. Still, the player interviews alone are worth the watch, starting and ending with Texas A&M junior linebacker Taurean York, who has been the team's starting middle linebacker since his 2023 freshman season. York finished the 2024 season with a team-high 82 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and his first career interception, and is considered one of the top defensive prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft. As an underrated prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, the Temple, Texas native, grew up a little less than an hour away from Austin, Texas, but did not receive any attention or an offer from the Longhorns, which was further revealed during his Thanksgiving trip back home before facing Texas that Saturday night. "(The game against Texas) for me, is extremely personal. I grew up 50 minutes away from the university of Texas. I was a top-1000 player. They never really called me, they never really showed me any attention. I had a high school teammate who was recruited by Texas and they flew a helicopter all the way down in Temple. My coach called me in there and sat in that meeting with them, those guys wouldn't give me the time of day. It put a chip on my shoulder for sure, but Texas A&M loved me through and through. They loved me for who I was as a player, as a person. That's when I closed the book on Texas." That's recruiting in a nutshell, and even Mike Elko, who was entering his second season as Duke's head coach at the time, tried everything in his power to lure York to North Carolina, not knowing he would inherit the elite defender just a year later. Texas A&M will travel to Austin this season to face a Longhorns team ranked No. 1 in the first US LBM Coaches Poll, this time on Black Friday. Former Nebraska lineman Ty Robinson records first sack with the Philadelphia Eagles
A former Nebraska defensive tackle recorded his first professional sack on Wednesday night. Philadelphia Eagles rookie Ty Robinson sacked Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jake Browning in the second quarter of his first preseason game. Eagles drafted Ty Robinson with the ninth pick in the fourth round. The defensive tackle had an impressive 2024 for the Cornhuskers. In 13 games, he recorded 37 tackles, 13.0 for loss, and 7.0 sacks. His performance was good enough to earn Third-Team All-Big Ten honors from the coaches and media. He has tallied 130 tackles and 11 sacks in five seasons with the Huskers. Robinson also turned heads at the NFL combine, running a 4.8 340-yard dash and jumping 33.5 inches. He signed a four-year, $5.1 million deal with a $1 million signing bonus back in May.
