19th edition of Iowa State Cyclone Tailgate Tour visits Sioux City
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — The Cyclone Tailgate Tour celebrated its 19th annual trip around the Hawkeye State, making a stop in Okoboji on Thursday night and the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City on Friday afternoon. It gave coaches and well-known Cyclones a chance to connect with Siouxland fans.
Sioux City was the ninth stop for the tour, which started on May 19 in Ankeny.
Making the trip from Okoboji last night, the Cyclones' caravan featured a handful of coaches, such as Matt Campbell of ISU Football and men's basketball head coach T.J. Otzelberger alongside Iowa State Athletic Director Jamie Pollard.
Providing an opportunity to connect to the fan base not only provides excitement for Cyclone fans in Siouxland, but also the coaches making the trip to the '712'.

'It's really amazing to see. Just the crowds just continue to double. I've been doing this eight years now. I've been on the tailgate tour for eight years, and I can literally say that it probably has doubled just about everywhere we went in that period of time,' explained Iowa State Wrestling Head Coach Kevin Dresser.
'We're really fortunate for the support that we have here and see so many great fans have already come into the building. The energy and excitement is really high,' Otzelberger mentioned.
'It's been great. We had a phenomenal crowd in Okoboji last night. The western and northwestern part of the state has been really good as the Cyclones,' added Iowa State Men's Basketball Head Coach Bill Fennelly.
'The events have grown and changed so much in my time, and to see, you know, where we started almost 20 years ago to where we are now with the events and the interest and the crowds and the kids coming out, and you know, just the excitement,' said Iowa State Volleyball Head Coach Christy Johnson-Lynch. 'It's been really fun to see that evolution, and every year seems to get a little bit bigger, a little bit better.'
The tour wraps up Friday night in Council Bluffs.

Advertisement The 5-foot-11 shifty Noel led the Cyclones with 1,194 receiving yards, averaging 14.9 yards per catch. Higgins, who, like Collins is 6-foot-4, recorded 1,183 receiving yards and a team-leading nine touchdowns. With Collins and Higgins, the Texans have a pair of receivers that could create issues for opposing cornerbacks. "The size, length, physicality and athleticism now found in Houston's passing game is impressive and creates matchup nightmares." Bleacher Report's Brent Sobieski wrote in a recent article. The San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles are two of the NFC's best teams over the last five years. They met in the 2022 NFC championship game with the Eagles winning and earning a spot in the Super Bowl. The next year, the two met in a regular season matchup with the 49ers getting the win en route to a Super Bowl berth as well. Now, they're making a deal for a pass rusher. Philadelphia is reportedly sending edge rusher Bryce Huff to San Francisco for a future draft pick. ESPN's Adam Schefter was the first to report the deal. The trade won't be processed until June 1. The specific draft pick has not been disclosed. Due to losses in free agency, the 49ers are expected to get three compensatory picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, per OverTheCap: two in Round 4 due to losing guard Aaron Banks and cornerback Charvarius Ward as well as one in Round 5 for losing safety Talanoa Hufanga. A move to secure Huff could involve one of those picks or earlier. Huff is entering his age-27 season and spent the first four years of his NFL career with the New York Jets, three of which were under 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh. The former undrafted free agent had his best season in 2023 under Saleh with 10 sacks. Huff signed a three-year deal with the Eagles in 2024 and missed five games due to a torn ligament in his wrist.
