19th edition of Iowa State Cyclone Tailgate Tour visits Sioux City
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — The Cyclone Tailgate Tour celebrated its 19th annual trip around the Hawkeye State, making a stop in Okoboji on Thursday night and the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City on Friday afternoon. It gave coaches and well-known Cyclones a chance to connect with Siouxland fans.
Sioux City was the ninth stop for the tour, which started on May 19 in Ankeny.
Making the trip from Okoboji last night, the Cyclones' caravan featured a handful of coaches, such as Matt Campbell of ISU Football and men's basketball head coach T.J. Otzelberger alongside Iowa State Athletic Director Jamie Pollard.
Providing an opportunity to connect to the fan base not only provides excitement for Cyclone fans in Siouxland, but also the coaches making the trip to the '712'.

'It's really amazing to see. Just the crowds just continue to double. I've been doing this eight years now. I've been on the tailgate tour for eight years, and I can literally say that it probably has doubled just about everywhere we went in that period of time,' explained Iowa State Wrestling Head Coach Kevin Dresser.
'We're really fortunate for the support that we have here and see so many great fans have already come into the building. The energy and excitement is really high,' Otzelberger mentioned.
'It's been great. We had a phenomenal crowd in Okoboji last night. The western and northwestern part of the state has been really good as the Cyclones,' added Iowa State Men's Basketball Head Coach Bill Fennelly.
'The events have grown and changed so much in my time, and to see, you know, where we started almost 20 years ago to where we are now with the events and the interest and the crowds and the kids coming out, and you know, just the excitement,' said Iowa State Volleyball Head Coach Christy Johnson-Lynch. 'It's been really fun to see that evolution, and every year seems to get a little bit bigger, a little bit better.'
The tour wraps up Friday night in Council Bluffs.

Iowa State commit, 3-star S Brayden Thomas shares photos from Michigan State official visit
Iowa State commit, 3-star S Brayden Thomas shares photos from Michigan State official visit Michigan State football is working to flip an Iowa State commit, and it looks like they made up some ground this weekend. Brayden Thomas of Lakewood, Ohio shared some fun photos from his official visit to Michigan State this weekend on Saturday night. Thomas posted the photos from his official visit on his Instagram account, which was later re-posted by SpartanMag -- which Thomas then retweeted asking "Spartan nation how we feel about this!?" Check out the social media posts below: Thomas is a three-star safety currently committed to Iowa State of the Big 12. Thomas has been committed to Iowa State since early February, but Michigan State has recently upped their recruiting efforts to flip him their way. Thomas ranks as the No. 71 safety in 247Sports' composite rankings for the 2026 class. He is also listed as the No. 32 player from Ohio and No. 842 overall prospect in the class. Thomas is set to take an official visit to Iowa State next week, according to 247Sports. His visit to Michigan State this weekend could certainly impact that upcoming visit, with the Spartans hopefully putting some more pressure on the Cyclones to retain Thomas' commitment. Nico Collins Issues Four-Word Assessment of Texans' Rookie WR Jayden Higgins
Nico Collins Issues Four-Word Assessment of Texans' Rookie WR Jayden Higgins originally appeared on Athlon Sports. With the Houston Texans beginning Organized Team Activities (OTAs) on Wednesday, veteran players were able to get a first-look at the team's new draft picks in action. Advertisement This included Texans' Pro Bowl wide receiver Nico Collins, who was more than impressed with the team's top draft pick Jayden Higgins. "Boy is nice man," Collins said, in reference to the former Iowa State standout Higgins, who was drafted 34th overall by Houston. Collins went on to voice his excitement about both Higgins and Jaylin Noel, a Cyclones teammate of Higgins, who the Texans selected in the third round. "The type of guys we got bringing in, these playmakers man. It's an honor to share the field with them. It's only right we go out here and just get each other better, and learn from each other man," Collins said. National team wide receiver Jaylin Noel of Iowa State (12) and National team wide receiver Jayden Higgins of Iowa State (9) work through drillsVasha Hunt-Imagn Images Both Noel and Higgins turned heads in their final season in Ames, Iowa. Advertisement The 5-foot-11 shifty Noel led the Cyclones with 1,194 receiving yards, averaging 14.9 yards per catch. Higgins, who, like Collins is 6-foot-4, recorded 1,183 receiving yards and a team-leading nine touchdowns. With Collins and Higgins, the Texans have a pair of receivers that could create issues for opposing cornerbacks. "The size, length, physicality and athleticism now found in Houston's passing game is impressive and creates matchup nightmares." Bleacher Report's Brent Sobieski wrote in a recent article. Collins is also enjoying playing the role of mentor to the young wideout. "I'm here for him to lean on, I'm here to learn from him as well," Collins said. "I feel that's the only way you can improve on your game, just having an open mindset and being a book." Advertisement For Collins and Higgins, that chapter is just beginning. Bryce Huff trade: 49ers getting pass-rusher in deal with Eagles, per reports
Bryce Huff trade: 49ers getting pass-rusher in deal with Eagles, per reports Show Caption Hide Caption Iowa State coach Matt Campbell on Brock Purdy's $265 million extension Iowa State product Brock Purdy recently inked a four-year, $265 million extension to stay with the San Francisco 49ers. The San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles are two of the NFC's best teams over the last five years. They met in the 2022 NFC championship game with the Eagles winning and earning a spot in the Super Bowl. The next year, the two met in a regular season matchup with the 49ers getting the win en route to a Super Bowl berth as well. Now, they're making a deal for a pass rusher. Philadelphia is reportedly sending edge rusher Bryce Huff to San Francisco for a future draft pick. ESPN's Adam Schefter was the first to report the deal. The trade won't be processed until June 1. The specific draft pick has not been disclosed. Due to losses in free agency, the 49ers are expected to get three compensatory picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, per OverTheCap: two in Round 4 due to losing guard Aaron Banks and cornerback Charvarius Ward as well as one in Round 5 for losing safety Talanoa Hufanga. A move to secure Huff could involve one of those picks or earlier. Huff is entering his age-27 season and spent the first four years of his NFL career with the New York Jets, three of which were under 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh. The former undrafted free agent had his best season in 2023 under Saleh with 10 sacks. Huff signed a three-year deal with the Eagles in 2024 and missed five games due to a torn ligament in his wrist. Bryce Huff contract Huff has reportedly reworked his contract to help this trade happen. Huff was set to make $16.75 million in 2025 - all guaranteed - but the Eagles have agreed to take on $9.05 million of that, leaving the 49ers to pay the remaining $7.95 million, per ESPN's Nick Wagoner. Here's what he is slated to make in 2026 per OverTheCap: 2026 Base salary: $1.21 million $1.21 million Cap number: $11.63 million $11.63 million Guaranteed salary: $0 49ers edge depth chart Huff joins a new-look defense in San Francisco for 2026.
