Ajay Devgn Says Outsiders In Bollywood Expect Stardom Overnight, Calls Them ‘Misguided'
Ajay Devgn, promoting Son of Sardaar 2, discussed newcomers' misconceptions about Bollywood, crediting his father for his industry knowledge.
Ajay Devgn feels that many newcomers from non-film backgrounds enter Bollywood with the wrong expectations. While promoting his upcoming comedy Son of Sardaar 2, the actor said some outsiders expect to become stars instantly, without understanding the hard work and acting skills required.
Ajay appeared on Archana Puran Singh's YouTube show along with his co-star Mrunal Thakur. When asked if he learned about the industry from his father, stunt choreographer Veeru Devgan, Ajay said, 'Whatever I've learnt technically and about the industry is all because of him. The kind of dedication he had and what he taught me…the honesty towards work, all of it comes from him."
Archana noted that this early exposure is one reason the industry often prefers people from film families. 'They already learn professional ethics from their parents," she said. Ajay agreed, adding, 'You get to learn a lot."
Speaking about outsiders, Ajay shared, 'I am not talking about everybody because there are sensible people, but a lot of times, they come in not knowing if they want to be an actor or a star. You cannot be a star on day one; first, you need to be an actor. So, I think there's a misunderstanding somewhere for people; they are misguided about the industry…those from outside film families. I think ultimately, it's your hard work."
Son of Sardaar 2 is a spiritual sequel to the 2012 film. The film will release in theatres on August 1. Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, the film features a powerhouse cast including Ajay Devgn, Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, Mrunal Thakur, Neeru Bajwa, Chunky Panday, Kubbra Sait, Deepak Dobriyal, Vindu Dara Singh, Roshni Walia, Sharat Saxena, Sahil Mehta, and the late Mukul Dev.
Presented by Jio Studios and Devgn Films, a Devgn Films and SOS 2 Limited production, Son of Sardaar 2 is produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande. Produced by N. R. Pachisia and Pravin Talreja, and co-produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak, Son of Sardaar 2 is set to release on August 1, 2025.
The movie follows the story of Sardaar Jassi, who has now moved to Scotland and has landed himself in hilarious trouble.

Kapil Sharma's comedy show The Great Indian Kapil Show debuted on Netflix amid much hype in 2024. After years of generating strong ratings on Colors and then Sony, Kapil Sharma moved with his team on the streaming service and Netflix presented it as a move in the right direction suggesting that this will broaden their audience spectrum in India. The shopw remains one of Netflix's most watched in India but after three seasons, the ratings have shown a decline. This season, the show has already had five episodes so far. While the first three episodes of the season made it to 'Global Top 10 Non-English Shows', the last two episodes have not made it to the list. The latest episode of Kapil's show featured the team of Son of Sardaar 2, which included Ajay Devgn, Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra among others. The one before that, featuring Jaideep Ahlawat, Pratik Gandhi, Vijay Varma and Jitendra Kumar, also did not make it to the list. The opening episode of the third season, featuring Salman Khan, got 1.6 million views and had 1.9 million hours viewed. It needs to be mentioned here that the number of views does not mean that these are the number of viewers. As per Netflix, the views are calculated by 'total hours viewed divided by runtime.' The second episode, featuring the cast of Metro In Dino, got 2 million views but these views did not solely belong to the second episode. These were the cumulative number of views for the first two episodes during the show's second week. The independent number of views for this episode were not declared by Netflix. After the third episode, featuring cricketers Gautam Gambhir, Yuzvendra Chahal, Netflix claimed that the cumulative views for the three episodes was at 1.2 million views. The number of episodes kept increasing but the views kept decreasing. And now, the show is not among Netflix's global top 10. As per the latest data shared by Netflix, the last spot on the list is occupied by the show Better Late Than Single, which has garnered 1.4 million views in two weeks. The cumulative views of the first four episodes, during its fourth week, stood at 900k with 4.2 million hours viewed. The first three episodes in this season featured Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, Jr NTR, Rohit Sharma among others. Even during the show's first season, a similar thing happened as the show got pushed out of the 'Top 10' list after its fourth episode featuring Vicky Kaushal and Sunny Kaushal. In its fourth week, the show's four episodes had cumulative viewership of 1.2 million views with 3.9 million hours viewed. The Great Indian Kapil Show's next episode will see content creators like Raj Shamani, Saurabh Dwivedi, Kamiya Jani, Samdish Bhatia as guests.

Three HYBE Employees Jailed For Insider Trading Linked To BTS Enlistment: Report
Last Updated: Three HYBE employees were sentenced for insider trading related to BTS's enlistment. The Seoul Southern District Court imposed fines and suspended prison sentences. Three employees associated with HYBE Corporation have been sentenced for insider trading related to confidential information about BTS's military enlistment. The Seoul Southern District Court delivered its verdict on Tuesday, imposing fines and suspended prison sentences on the individuals for violating the Financial Investment Services and Capital Markets Act. Kim, a 37-year-old employee from HYBE's subsidiary Source Music, was handed a 10-month prison sentence, suspended for two years. He was also fined 231 million won (approximately Rs 1.45 crore). Former employees Lee, 33, from BigHit Music, and another 41-year-old from Belift Lab received six-month suspended jail terms and fines of 51 million won and 65 million won, respectively. The court found that the employees had used non-public information about BTS's enlistment to avoid financial losses by selling their HYBE shares before the official announcement. The firm revealed in a YouTube video on June 14, 2022, that BTS would be halting group activities due to member Jin's military service. This news caused HYBE's stock to plummet by 24.78% the following day. According to the court, 'An artist's actions have a significant impact on revenue in an entertainment company, so whether they continue or suspend activities is a highly sensitive matter." It added, 'This offence deserves strong social condemnation as it is a serious crime that compromises the fairness of the capital market." In addition to the fines, the court also ordered the confiscation of the amount equivalent to the financial losses the employees avoided through their actions. Meanwhile, BTS has resumed group preparations and is currently undergoing a two-month creative boot camp in the United States. The band is expected to release a new album in the spring of 2026. All members, except Jin—who is on a solo world tour—are in Los Angeles. Warner Bros to adapt Chris Colfers Land of Stories for big screen
Last Updated: Los Angeles, Jul 23 (PTI) 'Glee" star Chris Colfer's bestselling children book series 'Land of Stories" is set to be adapted into a live-action film. Hollywood studio Warner Bros has acquired the rights to book series and has roped in filmmaker Phil Johnston to helm the adaptation, reported entertainment news outlet Deadline. 'The Land of Stories" centres on twins Alex and Conner Bailey, who are grieving the loss of their father when they are transported into a magic book where classic fairy tales are brought to life. The series started with 'The Wishing Spell" which was published in 2012 and followed by five more books. Colfer has also published several prequel titles. The movie adaptation will be produced by Colfer alongside Emma Watts, with Rob Weisbach executively producing. Colfer is best known for his portrayal of the character Kurt Hummel on 'Glee", which won him a Golden Globe and earned him two Primetime Emmy nominations as well as a Grammy nomination.
