This Brooklyn bar turns viral Dubai chocolate into a boozy cocktail

Time Out13-06-2025
Some trends are just too delicious to resist. Most recently, Dubai chocolate has captivated sweets lovers across the globe, drowning social media feeds and emptying wallets everywhere. Already, there are a half dozen places to find Dubai chocolate in NYC. The viral, pistachio-and-phyllo–flecked confection even inspired Sweet Graffiti bakery to add a Middle Eastern twist to their menu, lacing vanilla soft-serve ice cream with Dubai-style chocolate sauce, pistachio cream, and toasted kataifi. Now, another, much boozier rendition has debuted the Arlo Williamsburg: the 'Dubai Me A Drink' cocktail.
Sip your dessert by sidling up to the bar at Sungold, the Italian leaning, seasonally-driven restaurant set inside the Brooklyn hotel. Rather than replicate the original Arabic treat, mixologist Armando Acevedo made it his own, infusing his spiked interpretation with nostalgic, high-impact flavors. The creamy, dreamy 'Dubai Me A Drink' swirls 100-percent American corn vodka with house-made pistachio cream, rich chocolate liqueur, cacao bitters, roasted pistachios and a luxurious hint of saffron.
To mimic the dazzling, green and gold bars first created by Emirati Fix Dessert Chocolatier in Dubai, curvy coup glasses are embellished with generous swipes of chocolate and showering of crispy kataifi (shredded phyllo). The textural contrasts in this cocktail are deliciously thrilling — we can't wait to taste it alongside one of the restaurant's decadent desserts, like Orange Blossom panna cotta or flourless chocolate terrine with raspberry gelato.

The best curry houses in England revealed — find your local with our map

Whether you share a table full of dishes or keep your curry to yourself, you'll want to know which spots are worth visiting. And now you can. The English Curry Awards 2025 have named the nation's best curry houses, serving up a list of must-visit restaurants from the north east to the south west coast. Taking the top title of Curry Restaurant of the Year was Sher Khan in Alnwick, Northumberland. It also scooped the award for the best curry house in the North East, impressing diners with its warm service and rich flavours. Located in the heart of rural Northumberland, Alnwick is best known for its historic castle, a filming location for Harry Potter, and its picturesque cobbled streets filled with independent shops and cafés. It's a tiny market town, making Sher Khan's national win all the more impressive. The multi-award winning restaurant boasts a 4.7 TripAdvisor rating, based on over 500 reviews, with customers praising its 'friendly reception' and 'tasty food'. One described it as 'Simply the best in Alnwick'. On the menu, you'll find classics like jalfrezi and tandoori chicken alongside a variety of other regional favourites. But if you don't live in the north east, don't worry, plenty of other restaurants have received awards this year. In the North West, Aroma Asian Restaurant in Burnley claimed the crown. The family run restaurant has been creating authentic cuisine since 2007, according to its website and is another highly-lauded establishment on Tripadvisor, with 4.7 stars. Reviews describe the food as 'perfect', with hundreds of other reviews impressed by the service and quality too. Khandan Restaurant in Wellington was named the best in Yorkshire and the Humber. Everest Lounge in Market Harborough topped the East Midlands and Lavang in Solihull took the West Midlands award. Spice Valley in Norwich was named the best in the East of England, while Spice Route in Andover won the South East, and Mattancherry in Taunton triumphed in the South West. Aside from the regional accolades, awards were also handed out to the best curry houses in cities across England. Those looking for the best in the capital will have to head to the Masala Inn in Bexleyheath. The small restaurant in southeast London has both takeaway and dine-in options available and is open seven days a week. It'll set you back around £15 for a main course. The restaurant has a 4.7 Tripadvisor rating, based on over 400 reviews. One pleased customer wrote: 'Absolutely wonderful and well spiced food. The staff was unreal and so kind and caring. 'Will definitely be coming back, can't explain how good the food was.' Meanwhile, Spice n Spirits was crowned as Manchester's best. The takeaway is located in Little Hulton, Salford, and has a small dining area but they also have a cozy dine-in spot near Bolton. The menu features a variety of Indian-style street dishes, you'll find starters from around £4 and mains from £10. The restaurant has 4.6 stars on Tripadvisor, full of satisfied customers. One described it as the 'best Indian restaurant in Manchester with spectacular service'. Another wrote it was 'best Indian restaurant for miles', with 'superb food and great service even when very busy'. More Trending The awards ceremony, held on Monday, August 11, at the Eastside Rooms in Birmingham, brought together chefs, restaurateurs, and industry figures from across the country for a night celebrating the diversity of England's curry scene. Irfan Younis, a spokesperson for The English Curry Awards 2025 said: 'It was another memorable event that honoured the dedication and hard work of the nominees and celebrated the rich tapestry of flavours that the curry industry brings to the English culinary landscape. Another huge US star reveals exit plans from US after Donald Trump's warning

Jimmy Kimmel has joined a string of celebrities who have obtained citizenship to other countries over growing fears concerning President Donald Trump's leadership. Comedians Rosie O'Donnell and Ellen DeGeneres were among those fleeing the US after the 79-year-old returned to the White House for a second term at the beginning of the year. In a new interview, the Jimmy Kimmel Live presenter explained things are 'so much worse' in the country than people initially thought they would be, and revealed that he sought citizenship in Europe. During an appearance on the Sarah Silverman Podcast, the host said: 'A lot of people I know are thinking about where they can get citizenship.' 'I did get Italian citizenship,' he replied. 'What's going on [with Trump] is as bad as you thought it was going to be.' 'It's so much worse. It's just unbelievable. I feel like it's probably even worse than he would like it to be.' Kimmel's comments come after Trump suggested he could lose his job in a gloating post on social media, following the news that TV legend Stephen Colbert's show was coming to an end. 'I absolutely love that Colbert got fired,' he posted on Truth Social last month. 'His talent was even less than his ratings. 'I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert!' In a press conference last week, he doubled down on the claims, warning: 'Fallon has no talent. Kimmel has no talent. They're next. 'They're going to be going. I hear they're going to be going.' Kimmel has been a staple of our screens for decades, having helmed his own late night show since 2003 – he also hosted the Oscars and Emmy Awards multiple times, and voices characters in the Paw Patrol movie and Boss Baby over the years. Despite Trump's recent comments, he insisted that he has no ill will to any supporters who may now be regretting their vote. 'I think the door needs to stay open,' he demanded. 'If you want to change your mind, that's so hard to do. 'If you want to admit you were wrong, that's so hard and so rare to do. You are welcome.' A number of stars have decided to leave America following the recent election, after Trump beat Kamala Harris to return to power for a second time. Ellen and her wife, Portia de Rossi, swapped the US for a quieter life in the Cotswolds while Rosie – who has had a long-running feud with the politician – headed to Ireland. More Trending She was joined by her child, who is non-binary and goes by Clay, and shared that she needed to make the move for her family, and her 'own sanity'. Shedding light on the move while appearing on the Late Late Show, she said: 'The President of the United States has it out for me and has for 20 years, when I told the truth about him on a program called The View – where it was my job to talk about pop culture, politics… 'I mentioned his bankruptcies, I mentioned all of the sexual assault charges and I mentioned that he was not, in fact, the businessman that everyone thinks he is because of the show, The Apprentice, where they sold a bunch of lies to America for over 10 years, and half of America believed it.
