Maaman is slated to begin streaming from August 28, 2025, on the OTT platform ZEE5. The official update was made by the streaming platform itself.
Earlier, Soori himself had confirmed that the satellite and digital rights were bought by ZEE Network, with an official date for its streaming being finalized now.

Maaman features the story of Inba, a young man who takes extreme care of his sister Girija, who is struggling to have a child after 10 years of marriage. Upon finally giving birth to her son, Nilan, his maternal uncle, Inba, prioritizes him over everything else.
Meanwhile, Inba and his sister's gynec Rekha fall in love, leading to their marriage years later. However, despite tying the knot, his nephew Nilan often comes in between them, leading the couple to be unable to have private moments for themselves.
Multiple instances of this led the couple to have an outburst, with Inba's sister Girija even misunderstanding Rekha. Finally, Inba and his nephew drift apart, leaving Nilan experiencing fits.
What happens to the bond shared by Inba and Nilan, and does the former manage to balance his love life along with his family life, forms the entire story.

Maaman is headlined by Soori with actors like Rajkiran, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Swasika as Girija, Master Prageeth Sivan, Baba Bhaskar, Bala Saravanan, Jayaprakash, Viji Chandrasekhar, Geetha Kailasam, and many more in key roles. The film even has Tamil actor Vimal in a cameo appearance.
The film is directed by Prasanth Pandiyaraj, who penned the screenplay based on a story by Soori himself. With Hridayam fame Hesham Abdul Wahab himself composing the tracks and background scores, the film had Dinesh Purushothaman and Ganesh Siva handling the cinematography and editing.

Tamil Nadu govt will provide protection to theatres screening Vijay Deverakonda's Kingdom amid protests
Gowtam Tinnanuri's Vijay Devarakonda-starrer Kingdom is facing stiff opposition from Tamil groups over the depiction of Sri Lankan Tamils in the film as villain. The situation is such that there are concerns about the film being screened peacefully in Tamil Nadu. Kingdom: Vijay Deverakonda plays a police constable turned spy called Suri in the Gowtam Tinnanuri film. TN Police to protect theatres screening Kingdom The Madras High Court on Thursday placed on record the undertaking given by the Tamil Nadu state police that they would provide protection, if needed, to the movie theatres, where the film is screened. Pro-Tamil outfit Naam Thamizhar Katchi (NTK) has staged protests in various parts of the state, interrupting screenings of Kingdom. Government advocate (criminal side) gave the undertaking when the petition filed by M/s SSI Production came up for hearing before Justice D Bharatha Chakravarthy. In its petition, SSI Production sought a direction to the police authorities to provide adequate police protection to the theatres to enable the peaceful and uninterrupted screening of the film Kingdom, and further to restrain Seeman (Chief Coordinator of NTK) and his followers from interfering with the lawful screening of the film. What is the controversy In his order, the judge said when the censor board has certified the film, no third party could prevent the exhibition of the movie. If any threat was made by any individual or organisation, action should be taken against them, the judge said. At the same time, if Seeman, Chief Coordinator of Naam Tamilar Katchi and his party cadres wanted to express their dissent, they could hold a protest after getting permission from the police. They have the liberty to express their contrary view. But, they could conduct the agitation only in a lawful manner, the judge added. Kingdom, produced by Sithara Entertainments and directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, stars Vijay Devarakonda in the lead role. Tamil outfits have taken offence to how Sri Lankan Tamils are depicted as the villains the film, and the primary antagonist is named Murugan. Despite the protests, Kingdom has had a successful run at the box office, earning over ₹75 crore worldwide in a week. The makers are planning to release the film in Sri Lanka now. (With PTI inputs)

Getting d(r)ubbed: Recent southern films fall out of favour in Hindi-speaking belt, struggle for a hit
Dubbed versions of southern films, especially Tamil and Telugu movies, appear to be losing their fizz in the Hindi-speaking belt. Recent titles including Kamal Haasan-starrer Thug Life (Tamil) and Game Changer (Telugu) have performed below par, raking in less than a 10th of earlier blockbusters from the south. With the exception of Pushpa 2 and Kalki 2898 AD, there haven't been any major dubbed hits in the past year. Experts said there is unnecessary hype over the dubbing trend and too many films have jumped on to the bandwagon without adequate content or marketing efforts. The Hindi version of Mani Ratnam's Thug Life, released in June, made ₹1.56 crore. Kannappa, a Telugu-language Hindu epic starring Vishnu Manchu in the title role and an ensemble cast of Mohanlal, Prabhas and Akshay Kumar earned Rs. 2.75 crore, according to data from Bollywood Hungama, a trade website. L2: Empuraan, starring Mohanlal and released in March, made ₹2.22 crore in the Hindi belt. Game Changer, with Ram Charan in the lead, did better than the others, clocking in ₹26.6 crore after its release in January. However, all these earnings pale in comparison to dubbed southern hits such as Pushpa 2: The Rule ( ₹830 crore), KGF: Chapter 2 ( ₹434.7 crore), RRR (274.3 crore) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion ( ₹511 crore). 'The trend (of dubbed versions of southern films breaking out in the Hindi belt) has died down a little bit," admitted Rahul Puri, managing director of Mukta Arts and Mukta A2 Cinemas. While a few films managed to click with Hindi-speaking audiences, Puri said they were followed by several others that wanted to cash in on the hype but didn't do well even in their home markets. Half-hearted dubs Independent trade analyst Sreedhar Pillai said not all names from the south command equal draw in the Hindi belt. Only the likes of filmmaker SS Rajamouli, who first broke out with the Baahubali franchise and then followed it up with RRR, are known – even in tier-two and three north Indian towns – and people flock to the cinemas for their movies. 'If you look at films like Pushpa, the characters appeared real and relatable across the board. In the case of a lot of recent Tamil or Telugu films, the tone and style were entirely south Indian, and it didn't appear to be anything other than a simple dub," Pillai pointed out. Experts said the recent dubbed southern films have been half-hearted attempts to reach out to Hindi-speaking audiences. On the other hand, Kantara (2022), originally filmed in Kannada, had the right flavour, writing and marketing strategy to make it seem like a universal film and releasing in the Hindi market didn't look like an afterthought. Still, trade experts are hopeful about the prospects of Rajinikanth's Coolie, which also features Aamir Khan, Prabhas' next The Raja Saab, Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1, a prequel to Kantara, and Allu Arjun's untitled film starring Deepika Padukone to be directed by Atlee of Jawan fame. 'Not too many big-ticket films featuring names familiar in the Hindi belt have been released since Pushpa. But it's only a matter of time before one does well," film distributor and exhibitor Akshaye Rathi said.
