'Housefull 5' Box Office collection day 21: Akshay Kumar's film crosses Rs 180 crore; loses steam as ‘Maa', ‘Kannappa' and ‘F1: The Movie' hit cinemas today
Akshay Kumar
's latest laugh riot, 'Housefull 5', hit cinemas on 6 June and opened to much excitement and cheer. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, the film is the fifth part of the hit 'Housefull' franchise and brings together a massive cast on a luxurious cruise packed with confusion, comedy, and chaos.
Housefull 5 Movie Review
The film started strong and continued to win hearts in the first two weeks. But as it entered its third Thursday, the numbers began to drop. Still, there's something to cheer about — the film has officially crossed the Rs 180 crore mark at the Indian box office.
'Housefull 5' earns Rs 85 lakh on day 21
According to early estimates by Sacnilk, 'Housefull 5' earned just Rs 85 lakh on Day 21 (26 June), which brought its total domestic collection to Rs 180.60 crore
On its 21st day, 'Housefull 5' recorded a 10.61% overall occupancy in Hindi 2D theatres.
The film's performance remained low throughout the day, showing a clear dip in audience turnout. Morning shows saw the weakest response at just 6.64%, while the afternoon picked up slightly with 11.24% occupancy. The numbers improved a bit in the evening at 12.05%, and night shows reached the highest of the day at 12.50%.
Akshay Kumar's comedy battled 'Sitaare Zameen Par' and 'Kuberaa'
Even before this week's new releases, 'Housefull 5' had already been facing stiff competition at the box office.
Aamir Khan's heartfelt film 'Sitaare Zameen Par' and Dhanush's action-packed 'Kuberaa' were both doing well in cinemas, cutting into the audience share for 'Housefull 5'. But now, things are set to get even tougher.
New releases
This weekend may be the most challenging yet for 'Housefull 5'. Starting today, 27 June, three new big films have hit cinemas: Kajol's emotional horror 'Maa', the high-octane documentary-style 'F1: The Movie', and the mythological epic 'Kannappa'.
What's interesting is that 'Kannappa' also stars Akshay Kumar.
Star-studded cast
Akshay Kumar leads a star-studded cast in 'Housefull 5', which brings together some of Bollywood's most popular faces. The film also features
Riteish Deshmukh
, Abhishek Bachchan, Fardeen Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff,
Dino Morea
, Shreyas Talpade, Chunky Pandey, Johnny Lever, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, and Sonam Bajwa. Set on a lavish cruise ship, the story follows a string of comic misadventures and sudden murders, leading to complete chaos and confusion — a trademark style of the 'Housefull' franchise.

Maa box office prediction day 1: Kajol's horror drama may earn nearly Rs 8 crore in India
Maa box office collection day 1: Maa, starring Kajol, hit the screens on June 27 much to the delight of fans. The horror thriller has garnered a fair deal of attention as it features the seasoned actress in an intense new avatar. Moreover, going by the trailer, the storyline promises to be emotional and haunting in equal measure. These factors are expected to help it open to a good response at the Indian box office. Maa set to roar at the box office Kajol is in the limelight because of her latest film Maa, which arrived in theatres today. According to Rohit Jaiswal, a trade analyst and critic, it is expected to collect Rs 6 crore to Rs 8 crore (nett) on the first day. 'Maa created a buzz when the trailer released. However, now the buzz has decreased because of Sitaare Zameen Par. Either way, I think an opening in the range of Rs 6 crore and Rs 8 crore is on the cards,' he told Indiatimes. If this estimate holds, the film will open better than heroine-driven films such as Chhapaak (~5 crore) and Indoo Ki Jawani (Rs 35 lakh). Maa has been released alongside the pan-India film Kannappa, starring Vishnu Manchu and Prabhas. About Maa Maa is a horror drama directed by Vishal Furia. It centres on a mother and her daughter as they encounter demons in a village. The cast is headlined by Kajol and Ronit Roy. It is produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande.
