BTN analyst shares positive remarks on Michigan State hoops entering next season
Former Purdue Boilermaker and current Big Ten Network analyst Rapheal Davis shared some positive remarks on the Spartans for next season this week. Davis took to social media platform X to note he's expecting big things from Coen Carr, Jeremy Fears Jr. and Carson Cooper this upcoming season.
Here's the exact post on X from Davis:
This is the first time this offseason that Davis has provided positive insight on the Spartans from his point of view. He recently was praising the growth he was hearing for Carr and has also previously said he's expecting a breakout season for Fears.
Michigan State is coming off a Big Ten championship winning season, where they also reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. The Spartans, though, lost a number of key contributors off last year's team, including Jaden Akins, Jase Richardson and Tre Holloman.
It's clear Davis is high on Michigan State entering next season and would assume he'd consider them a solid value pick to make some noise in the Big Ten. It'll be interesting to see if Carr, Fears and Cooper can live up to this hype this season, and truly elevate their game to lead the Spartans to another strong year on the hardwood.

Oklahoma Football 2027 quarterback target predicted to land with USC
NEW: Rivals' @SWiltfong_ and @samspiegs have logged expert predictions for USC to land 2027 4-star QB Peyton Houston✌️Houston is the No. 8 QB in the 2027 The Oklahoma Sooners have their quarterback situation figured out for the 2026 recruiting class with the addition of Bowe Bentley and it was believed that the Sooners were in a good spot with their top 2027 quarterback target Peyton Houston. Back in June, Brandon Drumm of OUInsider followed up on a prediction from the year prior, favoring the Sooners for Houston, but the tide has turned west on Monday. Steve Wiltfong and Sam Spiegelman of Rivals predicted that Houston would land with the USC Trojans. Houston is the No. 8 quarterback in the 2027 recruiting class and is an incredible dual-threat prospect. If the Sooners indeed miss out on Houston, they'll have to pivot to find their quarterback in the 2027 cycle. The position is in good shape for the foreseeable future with John Mateer set to start in 2025 and has eligibility to return in 2026. If Mateer goes off to the NFL, Michael Hawkins Jr. would get the first crack to take over as the starting quarterback, and OU would have Bentley along with Jett Niu and Whitt Newbauer expected to be on the roster. The only other quarterbacks Oklahoma has offered in the 2027 class are Nebraska commit Trae Taylor and unranked prospect out of St. Louis Jonathan Moore. Key LB target previews decision, will commit on Saturday
FSU is doing its thing on the recruiting trail, that's undeniable. However, they're still looking to be better at bringing in linebackers. They have three-star Karon Maycock committed, but he'll make his final decision on Monday. So, four-star Rodney Colton Jr. has certainly become an important recruit in Tallahassee. Colton Jr. is down to Florida State, the Colorado Buffaloes, and the Ole Miss Rebels. The process hasn't been exactly easy for the Newman, Georgia, product as he explained recently. "It was fun at first, now it is just hell," Colton Jr. told Adam Munsterteiger of "I am going to be praying a lot; just letting God take me and lead me to the right school. They are three good schools with good coaches. I just want to pray about who is going to develop me and make me ready for the next level. "I have a family to feed. That's all I'll say. My family - my mom, siblings - and God will help me decide." Florida State was late in offering Colton Jr., as they didn't extend one until January. He was on campus in April as well for an unofficial visit, and he returned in June for an official visit. That has allowed Colton Jr. to build a few relationships within the staff. One person in particular has helped FSU in their recruitment of Colton Jr. over the last several months. "(Special teams coordinator and linebackers) coach (John) Papuchis is just a great guy, just like the rest of them. I have heard he put some guys in the league before, including Ernie Sims. He did everything I want to do." Speaking of his June visit, Colton Jr. left Tallahassee with the Seminoles as his top choice. "FSU is my top, I ain't going to lie," Colton Jr. told Noles247. "They beat the school I was looking at. Right now, they're in the lead." Colton Jr. did take official visits to Ole Miss and Colorado as well in June. So, only time will tell if Florida State did enough to add the blue-chip talent to their linebacker room. Auburn is in the top five for Kavon Conciauro ahead of this week's commitment date
The three-star WR from Georgia will choose between Auburn, Georgia, and others this Friday. Auburn football has the chance to enhance its 2026 recruiting efforts this week as it remains a giant contender to land a three-star wide receiver from Georgia. Kavon Conciauro, a three-star wide receiver from Warner Robins, Georgia, will announce his commitment on Friday, July 11, and Auburn is named a finalist. The Tigers are competing with Mississippi State, Georgia Tech, Georgia, and Duke for his pledge. Conciauro took his official visit to Auburn during the weekend of June 6, a few months after visiting the Plains during the spring practice session. In an interview with Auburn Undercover, Conciauro spoke on the relationship he has developed with wide receivers coach Marcus Davis. Davis is making Conciauro a priority despite entering his recruitment later than most programs, and Conciauro feels that he can "relate" to Davis. Davis' ability to develop and coach his players stands out to the talented wide receiver the most. "Seeing guys make plays, seeing (Davis) coach up guys who make mistakes, and then guys execute off the coaching points he makes was great," Conciauro said. "It shows that the guys bought in, and he bought into the guys as well." As has been the case for many recruits lately, Auburn is not considered the frontrunner to land Conciauro, and will look to make a strong push this week leading up to his commitment date. Mississippi State is seen as the favorite heading into the week with a 58.2% forecast. Conciauro is the No. 59 player from Georgia for the 2026 cycle, and is the No. 93 wide receiver according to On3.
