BTN analyst shares positive remarks on Michigan State hoops entering next season
Former Purdue Boilermaker and current Big Ten Network analyst Rapheal Davis shared some positive remarks on the Spartans for next season this week. Davis took to social media platform X to note he's expecting big things from Coen Carr, Jeremy Fears Jr. and Carson Cooper this upcoming season.
Here's the exact post on X from Davis:
This is the first time this offseason that Davis has provided positive insight on the Spartans from his point of view. He recently was praising the growth he was hearing for Carr and has also previously said he's expecting a breakout season for Fears.
Michigan State is coming off a Big Ten championship winning season, where they also reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. The Spartans, though, lost a number of key contributors off last year's team, including Jaden Akins, Jase Richardson and Tre Holloman.
It's clear Davis is high on Michigan State entering next season and would assume he'd consider them a solid value pick to make some noise in the Big Ten. It'll be interesting to see if Carr, Fears and Cooper can live up to this hype this season, and truly elevate their game to lead the Spartans to another strong year on the hardwood.

Former Ohio State defensive lineman Cam Heyward lands on NFL Top 100 list
.@CamHeyward lands at #️⃣8️⃣3️⃣ on the #NFLTop100📝: It's that time of year again when we get a look at the annual NFL "Top 100" list. This ranking is unique in the fact that the voting comes from the players themselves, so that likely means a little more knowing what your colleagues who play football at the highest level think of you. One guy that makes the list almost every year is former Ohio State and current Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Cam Heyward. This year, he checks in at No. 83, and boy, has he had staying power. The 2025-26 season will be Heyward's 14th season after being selected by the Steelers in the first round of the 2011 NFL draft. He's had a distinguished and probably underrated career if we're being honest. He's been named a First-Team All-Pro four times, made the Pro Bowl seven times, and was voted the Walter Payton Man of the Year in 2023. Before heading to the NFL, Heyward made a name for himself in Columbus by becoming a First-Team All-Big Ten selection in 2010. will continue to unveil the Top 100 players for this year, and we'll continue to keep track of when former Ohio State football players are unveiled. Texas A&M's Mya Perez to star in MLB's Home Run Derby X Showcase
Texas A&M power-hitting ace Mya Perez will be back in action on July 26 when she joins the unique MLB Home Run Derby X. On Saturday afternoon, the Round Rock Express minor league baseball team confirmed Perez's commitment to the event. So, what is MLB Home Run Derby X? Launched in 2022, MLB sought to create an exciting event to attract new fans to the sport, and Home Run Derby X was born. Here's how the league describes it: MLB Home Run Derby X is an electric new baseball format. A 3-on-3 co-ed competition featuring power hitting and athletic catching. Each event features four teams with each team led by an MLB legend. Two semi-finals. One final. Non-stop action. Perez has long been known for her power, even before arriving in Aggieland. She burst onto the scene as a member of the highly touted Athletics Mercado travel softball team. She famously defeated Oklahoma Sooner legend Jocelyn Alo in a friendly home run derby, cementing her prowess in the batter's box. After a challenging freshman year at Texas A&M, Perez returned to the grind in the off-season and emerged as one of the premier hitters in the SEC. During her sophomore campaign, she posted a slash line of .424/.561/.804 with 16 home runs and a school-record 73 RBI. Her standout performance earned her All-SEC First Team honors and consensus All-American Second Team recognition in 2025. Be sure to tune in on July 26 to see Perez showcase her skills in front of a packed crowd. Veteran with 21 contracts, just 16 games looks to continue improbable career with Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys used to have depth issues on the interior, but no more. Several years dedicated to improving the talent pool has gotten the club to the point they can actually withstand the retirement of a future Hall of Famer. Zack Martin won't be manning the right guard spot for the first time in over a decade, but the Cowboys quickly moved to ensure they had starting quality veteran depth, and then used their first-round pick on the role as well. The result? For the veterans who formerly were the backup depth, a longer road to making the 2025 roster. That group includes Dakoda Shepley, a journeyman who has been with the club for three years after spending time in several other NFL cities. Rundown Position: Offensive Guard Age: 31 (Week 1 age) Height: 6-foot-5 Weight: 290 pounds Hometown: Windsor, Canada High School: Holy Names College: British Columbia (Film Study Video) Draft: 2018 UDFA Acquired: 2022 Practice Squad signing Contract: Two-year contract (2025), $2.3 million 2025 Base Salary: $1.1 million Career Earnings: $1.7 million (per Over The Cap) Profile Each time a player is released back to a practice squad, they have to sign a new contract. Shepley has signed 21 NFL contracts before the age of 31. That's five more contracts than games played. Originally a UDFA of the Jets, he's spent time with San Francisco (1 game), Seattle (8 games) and in between two different stretches with the Cowboys (7 games), Indianapolis. Shepley hasn't yet started a game in his career, and faces competition from Brock Hoffman, a teammate since 2022 who has started more games (9) than Shepley has appeared in. Also part of the challenge are the newly signed Robert Jones, Hakeem Adejini and Saahdiq Charles. All of those players have more starting experience than Hoffman, which crystalizes just how difficult it will be for Shepley to make the 2025 squad out of training camp.
