In an effort to accommodate the surge in passenger traffic, South Western Railway (SWR) has announced the operation of a special one-trip express train between Yesvantpur and Talaguppa in Shivamogga district.
Train No. 06587 Yesvantpur – Talaguppa Express Special will depart from Yesvantpur at 10.30 p.m. on July 25 and reach Talaguppa at 4.15 a.m. on July 26, a release said.
The return service, Train No. 06588 Talaguppa – Yesvantpur Express Special, will leave Talaguppa at 8.15 a.m. on July 26 and reach Yesvantpur by 4.50 p.m. the same day, it added.

Bengaluru: The South Western Railway announced special express trains between Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal, Bengaluru and Thiruvananthapuram North to manage the anticipated surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming festive season. According to an official statement issued on Wednesday, Train Nos 06523/06524 SMVT Bengaluru–Thiruvananthapuram North Express Special will operate six trips in each direction. Train No 06523 will depart from SMVT Bengaluru at 7.25 pm every Monday from August 11 to September 15 and reach Thiruvananthapuram North at 1.15 pm the following day (Tuesday). In the return direction, Train No 06524 will leave Thiruvananthapuram North at 3.15 pm every Tuesday from August 12 to September 16 and arrive at SMVT Bengaluru at 8.30 am the next day (Wednesday). Additionally, train Nos 06547/06548 SMVT Bengaluru–Thiruvananthapuram North Express Special will operate three trips in each direction. Train No 06547 will depart from SMVT Bengaluru at 7.25 pmon August 13, August 27, and September 3 (Wednesdays), arriving at Thiruvananthapuram North at 1.15 pm the next day (Thursday). The return service, train No 06548, will depart from Thiruvananthapuram North at 3.15 pm on August 8, August 28, and September 4 (Thursdays), and reach SMVT Bengaluru at 8.30 am the following day (Friday). The trains will halt at the following stations in both directions: Krishnarajapuram, Bangarapet, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Podanur, Palakkad, Thrissur, Aluva, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Changanassery, Tiruvalla, Chengannur, Mavelikara, Kayamkulam, Kollam, and Varkala Sivagiri. Each train will consist of 20 LHB coaches, including two AC 2-Tier coaches, 16 AC 3-Tier coaches, and two luggage-cum-brake vans with generator cars, SWR added.

KSR Bengaluru-Kannur daily overnight express via Mangaluru Central will skip Bengaluru City Station for 153 days from August 2025 to January 2026. Instead, the service would originate from and terminate at Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal, Bengaluru. While Train No. 16511, KSR Bengaluru-Kannur Express would run from SMVT Bengaluru from August 15 to January 15, Train No. 16512 would terminate at SMVT Bengaluru from August 16 to January 16, according to South Western Railway (SWR). From SMVTB, the train would run via Banaswadi, Hebbal and Yeshwantpur before taking its regular route via Chikkabanavara, Kunigal and Hassan. Passengers from and to central parts of Bengaluru have the option of boarding the train or disembarking at Yeshwantpur terminal. The diversion is to facilitate infrastructure work at KSR Bengaluru Yard, according to SWR. Along with the Bengaluru-Kannur Express, Train Nos. 12677/678 KSR Bengaluru-Ernakulam daily Superfast Express and Train No. 16593/594 KSR Bengaluru-Nanded daily Express too would be diverted to run from SMVT Bengaluru.
