First look at BBC Lockerbie drama unveiled
The BBC and Netflix have unveiled the first images for a new drama examining the Lockerbie disaster. The Bombing of Pan Am 103 is scheduled to air later this year, and will focus on the Scottish and American investigators assigned to the 1988 tragedy, which claimed 270 lives.SAS Rogue Heroes star Connor Swindells, Severance actress Merritt Wever and award-winning Scots actor Peter Mullan will star in the six-part series. It is the second drama to air this year based on Lockerbie, after a Sky production starring Colin Firth was met with a mixed reaction from families of the victims.
In a statement the BBC and Netflix said the new programme would be centred around the search for evidence on the ground in Scotland, before taking in the trial at Camp Zeist in 2000 and the ongoing build-up to a new trial in the USA. It will also "highlight the human impact on the investigators, the families and the Lockerbie community".Other stars in the new show include Eddie Marsan, Phyliss Logan and Tony Curran.
Pan Am Flight 103 was brought down on 21 December 1988, killing 259 passengers and crew and another 11 residents in Lockerbie. The disaster remains the worst act of mass murder in British legal history. In 2001, a Scottish court sitting in the neutral Netherlands ruled the bombing was an act of state-sponsored terrorism carried out by Libyan intelligence.Three judges decided Abdelbaset al-Megrahi was part of the plot and convicted him of playing a central role in the bombing.Megrahi was to serve a life sentence in Scotland but was sent back to Libya in 2009 on compassionate grounds after being diagnosed with cancer. He died in 2012.Some relatives of British victims, led by the English GP Dr Jim Swire, maintained that Megrahi was innocent, and the real culprits were Iran and a Syrian-backed group, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine General Command.Dr Swire's book Lockerbie: A Search for Truth inspired the Sky production, which was broadcast in January.
The investigation gained momentum after the 2011 fall of the Gaddafi regime in Libya. This later led to Abu Agila Masud being charged with making the bomb that detonated on the flight. He was due to go on trial in May after pleading not guilty, but the case has been postponed after both the prosecution and defence sought a delay. The new series has been written by novelist Jonathan Lee and Scottish screenwriter Gillian Roger Park, and directed by Michael Keillor. It will air on BBC One in the UK and Ireland, and via Netflix globally.

POLL: What do you think to Prince Harry's strange plan for his kids?
Prince Harry and Meghan may have stepped back from royal life - but they're not shutting the palace gates for their kids just yet. The couple reportedly want Archie and Lilibet to keep their titles, sparking debate over whether it's about choice … or mixed messages. Despite Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepping away from their royal duties and all the palace drama a while ago, it seems they're keeping the door open for their kids to walk a different path. They reportedly want Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to hang onto their royal titles - just in case they decide they do want to be working royals one day. Apparently, Harry and Meghan see it as giving their kids the option when they're older. But here's where it gets a bit sticky, as the 'plan' comes after the source claimed the Sussexes feared passports for their children were being held up due to the use of their royal titles. It has all raised a few eyebrows., with former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond asking why the Sussexes are holding so tightly to the titles when they've been so outspoken about wanting out of the royal system in the first place. So, what do you think? Is Harry being thoughtful about giving his kids future choices — or is it a bit contradictory after everything he and Meghan have said about the monarchy? What do you think to Harry's plan? Take our poll below. If you can't see it, click here Jennie Bond told the Mirror: "I really don't understand why, having extricated themselves from a life they did not enjoy and in which Harry has publicly spoken of 'feeling trapped', they want to give their children the option of re-joining. It makes no sense. "Who knows what's going to happen in the future? But it's very hard to see how two children who are clearly now more American than British would want to change their whole way of life and become working members of the royal family." Archie and Lilibet got prince and princess titles when their grandfather King Charles became monarch in 2022. The first time their titles were formally announced was after Lilibet's christening in March 2023. Due to the reported hold-up in their British passports, it is said that Harry started to explore the possibility of changing his family surname to Spencer in a nod to his late mother, Princess Diana. And Jennie added: "I think Harry has always been more Spencer than Windsor, so if he was ever going to change his name, it would be to Spencer. "But this would be a final nail in the coffin of his relationship with his father and his brother. It would amount to a public declaration that he no longer saw himself as part of the royal family." There has been continued controversy over the Sussexes' HRH titles since the pair quit their royal roles five years ago. As part of their Megxit negotiations with the Palace, Meghan and the Duke of Sussex agreed to stop using 'Her Royal Highness' and 'His Royal Highness' at the end of March 2020. They still retain the styles, with Harry having had his since birth, but they are essentially held in abeyance. However, earlier this year, it emerged Meghan had used her HRH style on a gift basket sent to make-up entrepreneur Jamie Kern Lima last year, with a monogrammed card reading: 'With Compliments of HRH The Duchess of Sussex'. Kern Lima showed an image of the present in footage of her podcast interview with Meghan. It contained a jar of Meghan's jam which she has started selling as part of her As Ever lifestyle business brand. A source described the basket as a 'personal gift'. The duchess's representatives denied that the couple used them, but a source later said that the Sussexes did not use HRH publicly but retained the style, and did not use it for commercial purposes.

Beyonce's Cowboy Carter tour hailed 'flawless' and 'show-stopping' by critics
While there may only be five UK dates left, fans can secure last-minute tickets by scouring resale platforms - and some may even bag a bargain Beyoncé has taken London by storm with the launch of her Cowboy Carter tour earlier this week. Queen Bey kicked off the series of six electrifying performances at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - and the reviews are in. Following her first show on Thursday (June 5), critics have showered the superstar with praise, with The Mirror awarding the Single Ladies singer a dazzling five stars, hailing her as being in 'top form.' Our reviewer wrote: 'From flawless vocals and choreography and a seamless blend of bold stunts and spectacular visuals. In one section, the Texas native climbs on top of a gold-plated bucking mechanical bull as she gyrates and gets thrown from side to side without missing a note." Meanwhile, Wales Online lauded the show for its 'intense dance routines, emotional moments, nine quick changes and a flying car,' adding: 'Beyonce's Cowboy Carter is likely the most complete performance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season." The Telegraph described the concert as a fusion of 'spectacle and seduction,' elaborating: "It was a show of spectacle and seduction, of bone-rattling volume and heart-beating musicality, of surprisingly hard-hitting politics and uplifting emotion." viagogo and resale tickets Sites such as viagogo, Stubhub, and Vivid Seats allow fans to buy resale tickets from other fans. However, it is important to note that ticket conditions often prohibit resale after initial purchase. Those tickets may not be valid for admittance to gigs. Fans intending to buy tickets for live events through resale websites should check the ticket terms and conditions, to confirm whether resale is prohibited, before they buy. Ticket terms and conditions can be checked with the original seller, such as Ticketmaster or Live Nation. If resale is prohibited, tickets bought second-hand could be voided and admission to the event refused. Writers at The Guardian were impressed by her rendition of Dolly Parton's Jolene, sang 'as if were a prelude to murder rather than a plea.' However, not all feedback was glowing, reports MyLondon. The Independent suggested Beyoncé leaned too heavily on her stage production. They said: "Ultimately it's left to a few show-stopping stadium gimmicks to make the evening: Bey flying over the crowd on a neon horseshoe on a thumping Jolene, or in a classic American car for 16 Carriages." For those who prefer to make up their own minds rather than rely on reviews, there are still tickets up for grabs – if you know where to look, including on resale sites. Cheapest Beyoncé London tickets available now Right now, Beyoncé tickets can be snapped up from several online resale outlets. These include viagogo, Vivid Seats and StubHub.
