Emma Watson of Harry Potter fame has been ordered to stay off the wheel. The actress has been temporarily banned from driving as a result of a 2024 speeding incident.
The Harry Potter alum was ordered not to drive for six months on Wednesday, nearly a year after a camera caught her going 38 mph in a 30 mph zone in Oxford, England, reports People magazine.
Interestingly, another Harry Potter actor - Zoë Wanamaker who has essayed the role of Madam Hooch in the first film was also banned on the same day. The 76-year-old was driving at a speed of 46mph in a 40mph zone on the M4 in Newbury on August 7, 2024. She was fined fined £1,044 and also received a six-month driving ban

The verdict was taken in the same court as Emma Watson's.
While Wanamaker's lawyer Duncan Jones told the court that she was not acting starry and respected the traffic rules, the District Judge Arvind Sharma begged to differ. The judge confirmed the disqualifications in both Emma Watson and Zoë Wanamaker cases.
Watson is most widely known for her starring role as Hermione Granger in all eight Harry Potter films, beginning in 2001 and ending in 2011.
As per People, the actress has taken a step back from the spotlight in recent years, even enrolling in a master's program in creative writing at Oxford University in September 2024.
In a December 2023 interview with British Vogue, Watson said she was "so glad that I (took a break from acting) because I have this feeling of having my own voice and creative space and sovereignty in some way that I don't think I did before — more autonomy'.
'I'm so glad that I allowed things to be messy for a minute and to really allow myself to not know (what's next), because the knowing that I've come to, I wouldn't trade that for anything,' she added.
Watson's most recent rare public appearances came on February 14, when she attended the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game in Oakland, California, and later at the Cannes Film Festival in May. A source said that the Little Women actress was "very low-key" during the night out at the basketball game in February, and seemed "excited to be there'.
Pursuits in recent years for Watson have included continuing her education at Oxford after earning a degree in English Literature from Brown University in 2014. She also made her directorial debut with the Prada Paradoxe campaign in 2022.

Peter Dinklage and Elijah Wood thrilled fans at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 with a sneak peek of their superhero movie, The Toxic Avenger, releasing on August 29. Hollywood stars Peter Dinklage and Elijah Wood have made fans super happy. On Thursday, the duo teased an early glimpse of their upcoming superhero movie, The Toxic Avenger, in Hall H at the San Diego Comic-Con 2025. The four-day event will conclude on July 27. The Toxic Avenger, directed by Macon Blair, was announced back in 2023 with its trailer premiering in September of the same year. The film was, however, stalled after the makers failed to secure a distributor. The much-awaited superhero reboot is finally coming to the US theatres on August 29. The Toxic Avenger revolves around an ordinary janitor, Winston Gooze, played by Peter Dinklage, who transforms into a mutant vigilante after an accident at a chemical factory. The newfound superpowers help Winston fight against the slimy criminals and a corrupted CEO. Apart from Peter and Elijah Wood, the movie also stars Jacob Tremblay and Taylour Paige in crucial roles. Peter Dinklage revealed that slipping into the shoes of the 'mop-wielding superhero" Toxie in the film was 'an easy yes" for him, reported People magazine. The Game of Thrones actor credited this to the filmmaker and fellow Comic-Con panelist Lloyd Kaufman, who made the original Toxic Avenger film in 1984. Peter Dinklage On The Toxic Avenger Subtly hinting at the theme of The Toxic Avenger, Peter Dinklage said, 'Environmental concerns are an ongoing thing, now more than ever. The great way to get into that is through satire, through the backdoor, through humor. This just felt so perfect and necessary and needed." The actor further admitted that he was a 'huge fan" of director Macon Blair. Peter Dinklage heaped praise on his body-double, Luisa Guerreiro, for doing a fantastic job. 'Over 70% of my performance is not me. Guerreiro studied all my movements like a hawk and did a better me than I did." Elijah Wood, who essays the character of an antagonist, Fritz in The Toxic Avenger, said, 'There's a beating heart in there. I love the horror genre because of the possibilities. This movie is filled to the brim with ideas, and fun and playing with the medium." Last Updated: Following the trailer launch of Five Nights at Freddy's 2 at San Diego Comic Con 2025, Josh Hutcherson mentioned that there will be many more animatronic characters this time. The makers of Five Nights at Freddy's 2 have just dropped the first full trailer, packed with even more creepy fun and terrifying animatronics. Based on the hit video game series, the sequel sees Josh Hutcherson returning as Mike Schmidt, the former night security guard. Following the trailer's debut at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, Hutcherson teased what's to come, revealing that fans can expect a lot more animatronic characters this time around. When asked which animatronic he'd choose to inhabit, he jokingly picked Cupcake because, as he put it, 'it sounds fun to be carried around." As per People, Hutcherson said, 'Mike and Abby went through a lot in the first movie. Mike is just trying to find a stable life. He wants to have a nice, calm, normal life. And that just can't happen, Poor Mike. He's going through it. But the bond between Mike and Abby is super strong. And they get to a place where it's even stronger." Josh Hutcherson shared that Five Nights at Freddy's 2 will have 'a lot more animatronics" and 'bigger set pieces." Even though these robot-like figures look scary, he said there's one that he actually wouldn't mind pretending to be at Comic Con. The actor said, 'I'm gonna go with Cupcake, because then I get carried around, it just sounds nice. There's a lot of walking here." Director Emma Tammi shared that she feels very connected to the characters in the movie and was happy to explore their stories even more in the second part. She said working on the sequel gave her a chance to dig deeper into their world. She also pointed out that this time, there are more animatronics and much more action. As per the official synopsis, 'The first film, which opened to a record-shattering $80 million and went on to earn almost $300 million worldwide, followed Mike, a troubled young man who reluctantly takes a job as a night security guard at an abandoned theme restaurant, Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria, hoping it will help him retain custody of his young sister. That fateful decision instead drags him into the black heart of a supernatural nightmare." Five Nights at Freddy's 2 is scheduled to release on December 5. view comments First Published: July 25, 2025, 16:31 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
