UAE President offers condolences over passing of Hamad Al Hamli
His Highness expressed his sincere condolences to the family, praying to God Almighty to bestow His mercy and forgiveness upon the deceased, grant him eternal peace, and bring his loved ones patience and solace.
The President was accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Advisor to the UAE President; and a number of officials.

Sharjah approves 700 new government jobs and $8.3m in promotions and pay rises
Sharjah has announced a major employment and promotions initiative that will see 700 Emirati citizens hired in the emirate's government by the end of 2025. In addition, 1,523 government employees will receive promotions, which include both job advancements and special financial awards. These promotions will cost the government AED22m ($6m) annually. Iraq hit by power cuts as temperatures soar
Power cuts hit several provinces in Iraq on Monday, mainly in the central and southern parts, a Ministry of Electricity official said. They were caused by increasing temperatures and technical failures that affected power plants, the official added. The latest heatwave underscores Iraq's vulnerability to climate change, with the UN ranking it the fifth most at risk from global warming. Iraq is currently enduring its worst drought in decades, and summer temperatures, particularly in July and August, often soar above 50°C. Construction of dams and water diversion projects in Turkey and Iran has significantly worsened Iraq's water crisis, leaving the nation with less water. Decades of war and conflict have damaged the country's infrastructure, leading to water losses and inefficient distribution.
