
Guelph man charged after north-end stabbing
According to Guelph police, a group of people were inside an apartment near Woolwich Street and Speedvale Avenue around 6:15 p.m. when an argument broke out between two men who hadn't met before.
Police said the argument turned physical when one man in his 40s was stabbed in the leg.
The suspect left the apartment but was later located in the area with help from a Waterloo Regional Police Service canine unit.
'The knife was also recovered after being thrown into a neighbouring yard,' Guelph police said in a news release.
Police said the man is on probation with terms including not to attend the address where the assault occurred, not to have contact with a woman who was also present and not to possess weapons.
A 24-year-old man is charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and five counts of breaching probation orders.

Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call at 3:40 a.m. from a passerby who noticed bullet holes in a building on Jarry Street near Pascal-Gagnon Street. 'When police officers arrived on site, they located those impacts, and there were some gun shells that were found on the floor,' said Jean-Pierre Brabant, a spokesperson with Montreal police. There were no reported injuries, and there have been no arrests. Brabant notes officers remain on site to look for witnesses and examine security footage in the area.
