During a review with officials from revenue-generating departments at the Secretariat on Thursday, the Chief Minister urged them to focus on securing Central funds and tax devolution. He stressed the importance of monitoring tax collections through the new AP Tax Information System and highlighted the potential for increased tax revenue from the services sector. Suggesting ways to bolster the state'sown financial resources, Naidu directed officials to ensure that contractors working on state projects purchase petroleum products, such as petrol and diesel, within Andhra Pradesh. He pointed out that the state has been losing revenue as some of the contractors are buying fuel from neighboring states and called for measures to address this issue.
The Chief Minister wanted officials to ensure that land registration values are in line with actual economic transactions, without giving scope for artificially inflating land values. Towards this end, Naidu suggested using data analytics to understand market values and property data scientifically. He instructed officials to use Geographic Information System (GIS) technology for land-mapping, including e-registrations and property boundaries.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that the process of identifying Grama Kantham (village common lands) through the "SVAMITVA" survey is expected to be completed by February 2026. The Chief Minister ordered audits of accounts maintained in all panchayats. Furthermore, he directed officials to use drone and satellite technology to identify mining activities and monitor revenue through data analytics.
Chandrababu Naidu directed the Forest Department to explore ways of generating and boosting revenues from various forest products. When officials shared their estimate that the existing red sanders reserves could generate up to Rs 1,500 crore, the Chief Minister urged them to focus on selling these reserves in the international market. He suggested exploring new revenue streams from bamboo products.
While referring to the Excise Policy, the Chief Minister reaffirmed that the coalition government prioritises public health over excise revenue.
To promote the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), the Chief Minister ordered the continuation of existing subsidies. He called for the use of Real-Time Governance System (RTGS) and CCTV cameras to ensure timely payment of vehicle taxes. He suggested the implementation of vehicle scrap policy that is in line with the central government's guidelines.
The Chief Minister called for the implementation of an "auto-mutation" process in municipal corporations, leveraging technology and data from RTGS. He advised officials to correct municipal records, perform geo-tagging, and link data from Aadhaar, mobile connections as well as electricity records to strengthen tax collection. He directed officials to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) so that they can identify tax evasion and prevent revenue leaks.
The Chief Minister emphasised the need for integrating technology with comprehensive plans to boost the state's revenues overall.

Assessee must comply with summons issued by tax authority: Supreme Court
The Supreme Court has held that an assessee must comply with a summons and furnish a response to a show cause notice when it is issued by the central or the state tax authority. "Assessee" under the Income Tax Act of 1961 refers to any individual or entity that holds the legal liability of tax payment or any other financial commitments as specified by the Act. Thus, laying down guidelines to prevent duplication of adjudication by central and state GST authorities, a bench of Justices J B Pardiwala and R Mahadevan said that mere issuance of a summons does not enable either the issuing authority or the recipient to ascertain that proceedings have been initiated. "Where a summons or a show cause notice is issued by either the Central or the State tax authority to an assessee, the assessee is, in the first instance, obliged to comply by appearing and furnishing the requisite response, as the case may be. The top court said the respective tax authorities shall communicate with each other to verify the veracity of the assessee's claim after receipt of such intimation. "We say, so as this course of action would obviate needless duplication of proceedings and ensure optimal utilisation of the Department's time, effort, and resources, bearing in mind that action initiated by one authority enures to the benefit of all. "If the claim of the taxable person regarding the overlap of inquiries is found untenable, and the investigations of the two authorities pertain to different 'subject matters,' an intimation to this effect, along with the reasons and a specification of the distinct subject matters, shall be immediately conveyed in writing to the taxable person," the bench added. The apex court said the taxing authorities are well within their rights to conduct an inquiry or investigation until it is ascertained that both authorities are examining the identical liability. Any show cause notice issued in respect of a liability already covered by an existing show cause notice shall be quashed, it said. "However, if the Central or the State tax authority, as the case may be, finds that the matter being inquired into or investigated by it is already the subject of inquiry or investigation by another authority, both authorities shall decide inter se which of them shall continue with the inquiry or investigation. "In such a scenario, the other authority shall duly forward all material and information relating to its inquiry or investigation into the matter to the authority designated to carry the inquiry or investigation to its logical conclusion," the bench said in its August 14 judgement. The judgement came on a plea by Armour Security, a public limited company providing security services and registered with the Delhi GST authorities, involved in a dispute concerning tax demands and investigations. CM Chandrababu Naidu launches Stree Shakti free travel scheme
VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu launched the Stree Shakti Scheme at Pandit Nehru Bus Station (PNBS) in Vijayawada on Friday, fulfilling another poll promise of free bus travel for women. Earlier, Naidu, along with Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan, HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, BJP State president PVN Madhav, and other leaders, travelled in an RTC bus with women from Undavalli village to Vijayawada city bus station, interacting with them along the way, and collecting feedback on government schemes and their impact on their lives. Addressing the women participating in the launching ceremony, Naidu expressed his happiness at fulfilling one of the TDP-led NDA government's flagship 'Super Six' promises on the occasion of Independence Day. He claimed that the scheme is aimed at boosting women's economic independence and dignity. 'This is my gift as an elder brother to every girl in the State. Now, every woman can travel anywhere in Andhra Pradesh without paying a single rupee. Whether it's for work, education, business, or visiting family, women can save their travel expenses,' he said. Naidu explained that 2.62 crore women in the State would benefit from zero-fare travel on 74% of the APSRTC fleet, covering various services regardless of distance. Zero fare tickets would be issued through POS machines for record purposes, and the RTC could claim 100% of the fare. The scheme would cost the government Rs 1,942 crore per annum. Naidu assured that measures were taken to avoid operational issues, including capacity expansion, better depot infrastructure, clean bus stations, GPS tracking for safety, and the introduction of 1,050 electric buses in 11 major cities under the PM-eBus Sewa Scheme.
