Jayati Bhatia: I want to make people feel something
Actress Jayati Bhatia, who is currently seen in Jaane Anjaane Hum Mile, says as an actor, I don't want to just blend in—I want to make people feel something,
To prepare for the role, Jayati took inspiration from her own life and from famous plays like Shakespeare's Othello, especially the clever and manipulative character of Iago. But the character of Bua Ji isn't just based on books or plays. She added her own experiences and observations to shape the role.
Talking about her character, Jayati shared: 'When I first read about Sharda Suryavanshi, I was immediately intrigued by her psychological depth. She doesn't think of herself as a negative person. In her mind, she's preserving the emotional order she has carefully built and Reet is a disruption to that.'
She said: 'I found myself thinking of Iago, who operates under the illusion of loyalty, twisting the truth with such finesse that people believe him. That was my launchpad. I've met people in real life who will shower you with love and yet plot your downfall. I took that duality and applied it here. The warmth in Bua Ji isn't fake—it's just weaponised when needed.'
The actress said that she wants viewers to feel confused about her.
Jayati added: 'Is she caring or controlling? Is she protecting Raghav, or isolating him? I want viewers to get so involved; they start yelling at the screen whenever Bua Ji makes a move—then I've done my job.'
'As an actor, I don't want to just blend in—I want to make people feel something, even if that something is anger. I hope to become a household name to be hated, and I say that with pride because that's when I'll know I've truly done justice to the role. I truly hope the audience is enjoying it as much as I am.'
'Jaane Anjaane Hum Mile' has been captivating audiences with its tender yet turbulent tale of Raghav, played by Bharat Ahlawwat and Reet essayed by Ayushi Khurana.
While their love story takes center stage, it is the undercurrent of manipulation and emotional politics stirred by Sharda Suryavanshi, or Bua Ji, that adds compelling texture to the narrative. 'Jaane Anjaane Hum Mile' airs on Zee TV.

Jayati Bhatia of Jaane Anjaane Hum Mile: I want viewers yelling at the screen whenever Bua Ji makes a move
Jaane Anjaane Hum Mile has been captivating audiences with its tender yet turbulent tale of Raghav (Bharat Ahlawwat) and Reet (Ayushi Khurana). While their love story takes center stage, it is the undercurrent of manipulation and emotional politics stirred by Sharda Suryavanshi, better known as Bua Ji, that adds compelling texture to the narrative. Played with stunning nuance by brilliant veteran actor Jayati Bhatia, Bua Ji is not your typical antagonist. She's loving, loyal, at least on the surface, and deeply complex beneath it all. Jayati Bhatia, known for her strong theatre background and powerful television roles, brings a new kind of energy to the character of Bua Ji. To prepare for the role, she took inspiration from her own life and from famous plays like Shakespeare's Othello, especially the clever and manipulative character of Iago. But Bua Ji isn't just based on books or plays. Jayati added her own experiences and observations to shape the role. From suggesting subtle pauses to altering lines for sharper emotional impact, she has collaborated closely with the creative team to ensure Bua Ji doesn't fall into cliché but instead becomes a character audiences love to hate. Talking about her character, Jayati Bhatia shared, 'When I first read about Sharda Suryavanshi, I was immediately intrigued by her psychological depth. She doesn't think of herself as a negative person. In her mind, she's preserving the emotional order she has carefully built and Reet is a disruption to that. As tensions rise between Raghav and Reet, and Bua Ji's quiet orchestration continues behind the scenes, viewers can expect even more riveting twists that test relationships and loyalties. 'Sat Down And Designed Lectures': Shagun Pandey On Preparing For His Role As Ved In Saru
Last Updated: To bring authenticity to his role as an English teacher, Shagun Pandey crafted his own lectures to captivate viewers and add depth to his character. Shagun Pandey, known for his stint on MTV Splitsvilla 11, is wowing audiences with his new role in Zee TV's daily show Saru. The daily soap, which features Mohak Matkar as the female lead, stars Shagun as Ved, a thoughtful and composed English professor. Premiered on May 12, Saru tells the inspiring story of a small-town girl chasing her big dreams. Did you know Shagun has put in a great deal of hard work for this role? He shared that it required him to consciously adjust his tone, body language and overall presence. He went the extra mile by curating and writing his own lectures to make them both informative and engaging for the viewers. 'As soon as I found out that Ved is an English professor, I realised this role would be unlike anything I've done before. Unlike my previous characters, who were often caught in intense family dynamics, Ved had to teach a classroom and connect with students in a calm, composed way. That meant doing my homework, literally," Shagun Pandey shared in an interview with Etimes. The 28-year-old actor said that portraying Ved has been an eye-opening and enriching experience for him. 'I didn't just want to memorise lines; I wanted the classroom scenes to feel real, like something a viewer could actually learn from. So, I sat down and designed short, impactful lectures for the students, deciding what topics to cover and how to deliver them in a way that was simple yet effective," he added. Shagun Pandey also mentioned that he drew inspiration from his own teachers, sought input from people around him and did extensive reading to fully get into the character's mindset. 'I truly hope I've done justice to the role and that the audience connects with Ved," the actor shared. Shagun has been a part of several TV shows, including Mera Balam Thanedaar, where he played the role of an IPS officer. The actor was also seen in Tujhse Hai Raabta, Kyun Utthe Dil Chhod Aaye and Meet. First Published: June 03, 2025, 18:57 IST
