Joe Jonas Seemingly Reveals Secret ‘Camp Rock 3' Plans to Avoid Eating a Spicy Wing: ‘Sorry, Disney!'

Yahoo4 days ago
Joe Jonas might catch some heat from the bosses at Disney for seemingly letting a Camp Rock-related secret slip on Hot Ones Versus — but at least he avoided eating a super spicy chicken wing.
While facing off against his brothers/bandmates Kevin and Nick on the episode posted Tuesday (Aug. 12), the DNCE frontman appeared to reveal that a Camp Rock 3 is in the works. When challenged to either read his most recent Notes app entry or take a bite of a 'death wing,' Joe prioritized his taste buds over any NDA he may or may not have in place with a certain entertainment giant.

'Read Camp Rock 3,' he said as silence fell over the set. 'It's the truth. It's literally right here.'
The trio and Hot Ones crew then burst out laughing at the unplanned revelation — that a script for a third Camp Rock movie appears to exist — as Kevin shrugged, admitting, 'That's a pretty good one.'
'Sorry, Disney!' Joe added.
So there you have it. Though Disney has not publicly indicated that another Camp Rock is in the works, the Jo Bros seem to at least be considering reprising their roles in a follow-up to 2010's Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, which premiered on Disney Channel two years after the original Camp Rock first aired. In the franchise, the Jonases played three brothers who formed a boy band called Connect 3 — sound familiar? — starring opposite Demi Lovato's leading lady, Mitchie Torres.
Billboard has reached out to Disney for comment.
Regardless of whether Camp Rock 3 comes to fruition, the timing of Joe's spontaneous reveal does seem like kismet. Just two days prior to the Hot Ones Versus premiere, the brothers reunited with Lovato and performed Camp Rock hits 'This Is Me' and 'Wouldn't Change a Thing' at the Jonas Brothers' kickoff anniversary tour show in New Jersey.
But for now, the Jonas Brothers are focusing on band activities. In addition to touring, the band is also in the midst of promoting new album Greetings From Your Hometown, which dropped Aug. 8.

AI-powered stuffed animals are coming for your kids

In Brief Do A.I. chatbots packaged inside cute-looking plushies offer a viable alternative to screen time for kids? That's how the companies selling these A.I.-powered kiddie companions are marketing them, but The New York Times' Amanda Hess has some reservations. She recounts a demonstration in which Grem, one of the offerings from startup Curio, tried to bond with her. (Curio also sells a plushie named Grok, with no apparent connection to the Elon Musk-owned chatbot.) Hess writes that this is when she knew, 'I would not be introducing Grem to my own children.' As she talked to the chatbot, she became convinced it was 'less an upgrade to the lifeless teddy bear' and instead 'more like a replacement for me.' She also argues that while these talking toys might keep kids away from a tablet or TV screen, what they're really communicating is that 'the natural endpoint for [children's] curiosity lies inside their phones.' Hess reports that she did, eventually, let her kids play with Grem — but only after she'd removed and hidden the voice box. They still talked to it and played games with it; then they were ready for some TV.

The Last Big Comedy Movie Released 8 Years Ago, Proves Laughter Was Intentionally Banned

Quietly, and while no one was looking, an entire movie genre was wiped from existence. Now it's back. This weekend, the new version of The Naked Gun opened in theaters, and it's the first big comedy movie to be released in eight years. The last full comedy of significance to show up at the cinema was Daddy's Home 2, released in 2017. And then Hollywood banned comedy. Daddy's Home 2 was a legitimate hit. Its all-star cast included Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg, John Lithgow, John Cena, and Mel Gibson. Audiences loved it and gave the movie high scores. It made good money at the box office, earning $180 million on a $70 million budget. I'm telling you this so you know that there was nothing about Daddy's Home 2 to suggest that big comedy movies were no longer a good investment. Quite the opposite. They were easy to make and easy to profit from. So what happened? I've heard some try to blame COVID, but that's not it, since COVID happened in 2020 and comedy movies died in 2017. The number of comedies produced had gradually slowed by 2017. In 2015, nearly a dozen big-budget comedies were in theaters, led by movies like Ted 2, Paul Blart 2, and the original Daddy's Home. In 2016, that number dropped to less than half a dozen, with Central Intelligence, Bad Moms, and Neighbors 2 as the most notable entries. Although the number of comedies released dwindled, the money was still significant. Central Intelligence alone made $226 million. Still, in 2017 comedy went away. It sputtered briefly back to life in 2023 when Jennifer Lawrence tried to release an R-rated raunch comedy called No Hard Feelings. In response, the press attacked her for it, and she hasn't appeared in anything since. It's like she was run out of the business. That's exactly why there haven't been any comedies. No Hard Feelings was called creepy and tone deaf for daring to exist. The film, which is about a hot middle-aged girl taking a teen nerd under her wing, was accused of promoting toxic masculinity and was deemed an affront to the #MeToo movement. The few normal people who did see it loved it. The movie holds an 86% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. But activist-driven backlash in the press buried the film, which barely registered at the box office. That attack on Lawrence and No Hard Feelings is exactly what Hollywood has been avoiding for the past eight years, by refusing to make comedy. It's the reason for everything, and given what happened to Lawrence, it's hard to argue that it wasn't the right business decision. I'm not as sure it was the right cultural decision. It's been eight years without laughter at a time when, perhaps more than at any other time in recent history, people needed a laugh. Now The Naked Gun is in theaters, but it's not an act of bravery. It's an act of timing. The anti-humor mentality that took hold of the entertainment press has begun evaporating, and The Naked Gun is first to take advantage of the changing environment. Whether The Naked Gun does well at the box office is almost irrelevant since the past eight years have proven that Hollywood is making comedy decisions based on the changing forms of political bias expressed by the media, and not on profit. That media orthodoxy, which forbade us from laughing for eight years, seems to have embraced The Naked Gun. The gatekeepers have opened the gates and allowed us all to laugh. I'm glad comedy is back, but no one should be happy about how it happened. Tear down the gates; we can't let this happen again. Solve the daily Crossword

Fans think Taylor Swift's new song 'Ruin the Friendship' is about Blake Lively

Swift and Lively's relationship has been under scrutiny since the "It Ends With Us" actress' legal battle with costar and director Justin Baldoni. Another Taylor Swift era, another round of pre-release speculation about who her new songs could be about. When the pop icon announced the tracklist to her upcoming 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, on the New Heights podcast Wednesday, Swifties immediately did what they do best and started parsing through each song title for possible meaning. One in particular caught their eye: "Ruin the Friendship." Fans immediately hit social media with their theories that the song, which is the sixth track on the album, could be about longtime Swift pal Blake Lively and the status of their friendship. To recap, Lively's ongoing and very public legal battle with her It Ends With Us costar and director Justin Baldoni began in December 2024. The pair took legal action against each other, with Lively accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment and launching a smear campaign, and Baldoni launching a countersuit, alleging defamation and extortion. Since then, Swift and Lively's relationship has been under scrutiny. The Grammy winner got pulled into the mix when a complaint filed by Baldoni's legal team (which was later dismissed) alleged that she had pressured him to accept Lively's script changes on the movie, which Lively's team called "categorically false." Baldoni's countersuit included text messages between Lively and Baldoni, in which the actress seemingly alludes to Swift as "one of her dragons" while likening herself to Game of Thrones' Khaleesi (Emilia Clarke). Then, in May 2025, matters reached a fever pitch when Baldoni's team attempted to subpoena Swift, which prompted a rep for the pop star to slam the maneuver as a scheme to generate "tabloid clickbait." "Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history," a spokesperson for Swift told Entertainment Weekly at the time. For their part, Swift and Lively have not publicly commented on how, or if, any of this has affected their friendship, though they haven't been seen in public together in quite some time. And while Swift never reveals who her songs are about, she has been open about how she uses real-life inspirations in her music (after all, Lively and Ryan Reynolds' children have had cameos in or served as character name inspiration in tracks such as "Gorgeous" and "Betty"). A rep for Swift didn't immediately respond to EW's request for comment Thursday, but, the singer herself did provide some possible context on the New Heights podcast Wednesday. In the conversation, which was between Swift, her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and his brother, Jason, the singer revealed that she (somehow?) found time while she was on her Eras Tour in Europe to record Showgirl. "I just love it a lot. I love music," Swift shared. "I would be playing shows. I'd do, like, three shows in a row. I'd have three days off. I'd fly to Sweden, go back to the tour — and actually, like, working on this – I was physically exhausted at this point in the tour, but I was so mentally stimulated and so excited to be creating." The European leg of Swift's tour took place between May and August of 2024, so if the album was written and recorded in its entirety during that time, it likely couldn't be about Lively, given that the It Ends With Us drama began in earnest in December of that year. But, until Swift or Lively provide more insight, fans are just going to have to wait til The Life of a Showgirl releases on Oct. 3 to find out just who or what the song could be about.
