17 civic bodies to be declared plastic-free by October: AP Chief Secretary Vijayanand
He held a video conference with Collectors and officials of related departments from the Secretariat on Thursday, discussing issues such as Swarnandhra P-4 Foundation, Swarnandhra, Swachhandra, MSME parks, and Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana.
Speaking on the occasion, the CS said that steps are being taken to control single-use plastic items in a phased manner. By next October, 17 municipal corporations will be declared plastic-free. He added that steps will be taken to ban plastic items in all government offices across the State.
Vijayanand said that the government has launched the Swarnandhra P-4 Foundation programme with the noble goal of eradicating poverty and eliminating economic inequalities in society.
The government has set a target of adopting 15 lakh Bangaru Kutumbalu in the State by August 15 under this initiative.
He instructed Collectors to pay special attention to the successful implementation of Swarnandhra P-4. He also mentioned that 1,027 villages have been selected under the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana, of which 765 villages have already been declared model villages under the Village Development Plan (VDP).
Regarding MSME Parks, Vijayanand said it is a Centrally sponsored scheme implemented with World Bank financial assistance. He directed Collectors to take appropriate steps in its implementation.

CM tells officials to develop Amaravati into a blue-green city
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu instructed the officials to develop Amaravati as a blue-green city that has the State's largest lung space, by enhancing greenery around the trunk roads, the connecting roads and the roads in the LPS layouts, buffer and green zones, and main junctions. Telangana CS reviews preparations for I-Day fete at Golconda
HYDERABAD: Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao on Wednesday instructed officials to make foolproof arrangements for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations at the Golconda Fort. He also directed all departments to work in close coordination and ensure that the event is conducted in a well-organised and grand manner befitting the occasion. During a coordination meeting held at the Secretariat to review and finalise the arrangements for the event, the CS instructed the police department to prepare a detailed traffic route map and make necessary arrangements by assigning designated alighting and pick-up points for invitees and general public. Adequate security and traffic control measures should be ensured at all venues, he added. He also directed the R&B department to illuminate prominent public buildings such as the Assembly, Raj Bhavan, Secretariat and statues of Telangana Thalli. The Fire Services Department has been tasked with deploying fire safety personnel and firefighting equipment to ensure safety and readiness for any emergency. DGP Jitender, R&B Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj, Principal Secretary Navin Mittal, Hyderabad Collector Dasari Hari Chandana and other senior officials attended the meeting.
