A proposal was made to develop guiding principles to achieve these goals, noting that Students' Learning Outcomes (SLOs) should be aligned with the text.
The meeting was chaired by Sindh Textbook Board Chairman Parvez Ahmed Baloch. After reviewing the 12th-grade Sindhi textbook, experts shared their observations and suggested revisions in line with contemporary educational needs.
Writer Jami Chandio noted that improving textbooks is a continuous process that must be sustained. Although he pointed out thematic imbalances in the current 12th-grade Sindhi textbook, he praised its content quality as superior to that of textbooks from other provinces.

Bhitai's message echoes as 282nd Urs begins in Bhit Shah
The 282nd Urs of the revered Sufi saint and poet Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai (RA) began on Saturday morning in Bhit Shah, Matiari district, as tens of thousands of devotees flocked to the town to mark the occasion. Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi and Sindh Culture Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah officially inaugurated the three-day Urs by laying a chadar at Bhitai's shrine. Kundi said his philosophy of love, peace, and coexistence continues to guide humanity. Minister Shah paid tribute to Bhitai's progressive vision, noting his advocacy for women's rights and his timeless message of brotherhood. Shah highlighted ajrak as a symbol of Sindh's cultural identity, traditionally presented to guests as a mark of honour. Both the governor and the minister listened to renditions of Bhitai's devotional poetry at the shrine. Later, they inaugurated the cultural village at Shah Jo Bagh, visiting handicraft stalls and attending a folk music session. An event titled 'Sughrahn ji Kachehri' was also held at HT Surli Hall, where prominent folk artists performed Bhitai's verses in deeply expressive styles. Meanwhile, scholars and intellectuals offered insightful analyses of the saint's poetry, reaffirming Bhitai's profound legacy in Sindhi culture and spiritual thought.

Sindh CM participates in Independence Day celebrations with differently-abled children
KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah celebrated the 78th Independence Day with differently-abled children in two heart warming events held at the Quaid-e-Azam House Museum and the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and both events, marked under the theme 'Markaz-e-Haq', highlighted inclusivity, unity, and national pride. The day began at the Quaid-e-Azam House Museum, where the Department of Culture hosted a vibrant programme. Over 100 children from institutions such as Scanosa, C-Arts, Dar Al-Sukoon, and Umeed-e-No participated in the celebration, which featured a flag-hoisting ceremony, national songs, and cultural performances in Sindhi, Punjabi, Balochi, and Pashto. Murad, accompanied by Culture Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, Secretary DEPD Tauha Farooqi, and prominent artists like Javed Sheikh and Ayub Khoso, engaged warmly with the children. He sang national songs, joined children on stage, and cut a cake to mark the occasion. He praised the courage and talent of the children, stating, 'These special children are the heart of this celebration. They bring joy, energy, and hope.' Murad Ali Shah emphasised his government's unwavering commitment to inclusivity, equality, and support for the differently-abled. 'Every citizen deserves respect, dignity, and opportunity regardless of physical or mental ability,' he said. Matric results delayed by 15 days due to pending Sindhi paper evaluation
The Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) has announced a delay of around 15 days in the announcement of matriculation results for the Science Group, affecting over 180,000 students. Despite earlier assurances that results would be declared by July 31, board officials now estimate the release in the second week of August. The delay comes at a critical juncture, as nearly 100,000 matric students have already applied for admission to government colleges through the Sindh Education Department's centralised online portal. Around 50,000 students have already been allotted seats under the Centralised Admission Policy (CAP). The postponement is expected to create complications for college placements and the academic calendar. Sources within BSEK told The Express Tribune that the primary reason for the delay is the incomplete checking of Sindhi language papers-a compulsory subject for the Science Group. A large number of teachers assigned to mark these papers are currently on leave outside Karachi, creating a backlog in the evaluation process. Efforts are underway to recall them, but the available workforce remains insufficient to complete the task on schedule. The matric exams concluded on June 2. However, the result compilation process has been marred by administrative issues. The position of controller of examinations remains vacant after the board chairman removed the previous controller without legal authority, a move that contravenes the BSEK Act, which grants appointment and removal powers solely to the Chief Minister of Sindh, the board's controlling authority. Also, all three deputy controllers remain under suspension, and the chairman has assigned the duties of the controller to an assistant controller - raising further questions about the legality of the arrangement. In the absence of a permanent examination head, concerns have been raised about transparency, governance, and the board's ability to manage its responsibilities effectively.
