Eclipse injury forces Camille Pissarro retirement

Trained by Aidan O'Brien, the Wootton Bassett colt also won at the highest level as a juvenile when taking the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere by a neck from Rashabar.
Third to stablemate Henri Matisse in the French 2000 Guineas, the step up in trip suited him in the French Derby and stud plans will be announced shortly.
O'Brien told Coolmore: 'Camille Pissarro pulled a shoe at Sandown and was quite sore afterwards.
'We had him X-rayed, and a fissure fracture was found in his fetlock. The decision was then made to retire him.
'Camille Pissarro was an extremely classy colt; he had speed and class. He won the Lagardere on Arc weekend last year at two, and then he showed everyone how good he was in the French Derby. He was very classy.'

Joao Palhinha predicts ‘something special' from Spurs despite Super Cup defeat

Spurs were minutes away from winning a second trophy in the space of three months after goals by Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero either side of half-time put them in control in Udine. PSG upped the ante in the second period and, after Lee Kang-in reduced the deficit with five minutes left, fellow substitute Goncalo Ramos forced spot-kicks with a header in the fourth minute of stoppage time after a 2-2 draw. Tottenham boss Thomas Frank passes the trophy during the medal ceremony (Antonio Calanni/AP) Vitinha's miss coupled with successful kicks by Dominic Solanke and Rodrigo Bentancur put Thomas Frank's team two up in the shootout, but Van de Ven and Mathys Tel failed to score from the spot and the French side claimed further silverware with a 4-3 victory. Palhinha was eager to draw on the positives ahead of Tottenham being set to return to Champions League action next month for the first time in three seasons. 'It is football. At the end we are really sad. Not just the players but all the staff, all the crowd that came to support us during the game,' Palhinha said. 'I think we also need to feel proud for what we did until the 80 minutes. You know because we fought all the games with a top team and I think we showed what we are here to get in the future. 'We have all the conditions to achieve good things this season and I think the future will bring us something special. 'I think we have the hunger from all the players to achieve this title. Everyone gave all the maximum in this game and I think we showed what we are capable of. 'We played against a top team and I think we have everything, a top coach, top players in this squad, a top crowd with a lot of hunger to achieve titles and me and my team-mates will fight for it, for sure. 'A tough night, but I know that we will shape good things in the future. We just need to keep our head up.' This was Palhinha's competitive debut for Spurs after he joined on a season-long loan from Bayern Munich. Palhinha struggled during his debut campaign in Munich, but is excited to be back in the Premier League and London following two successful years at Fulham before Tottenham's opener at home to Burnley on Saturday. He said: 'In the Premier League you have also every single week top games. I think we cannot relax and the good thing now is we have another game on Saturday to change the (bad) things and start with the right foot in the Premier League. 'I enjoyed when I played in Fulham the two years that I was there. I really miss the Premier League. I think it's a league that everyone plays and when you play there and go to play outside somewhere else, you miss something. 'I'm really proud to be back again to the Premier League. I'm really happy to be in this top club and top team. I just need to enjoy it.' Proud. There's plenty more to come 🤍 — Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) August 13, 2025 Mohammed Kudus also made his debut for Tottenham and backed them to learn lessons from the defeat. 'We've shown that we can compete at the highest level, we have to take the positives and focus on the tasks we have ahead in the coming season,' Kudus insisted. 'This is a good step, of course a big disappointment but we have a lot more to play this season, a lot more competitions and we take this as a lesson and move forward.'

Billionaire owner of Willie Mullins' ‘very classy' new £300,000 horse confirmed and Cheltenham Festival target decided

She really could be anything MONEY TALKS Billionaire owner of Willie Mullins' 'very classy' new £300,000 horse confirmed and Cheltenham Festival target decided Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THE billionaire owner of Willie Mullins' 'very classy' new £300,000 horse has been confirmed. And her Cheltenham Festival target has already been decided. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 Willie Mullins and billionaire Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary had a public falling out a few years ago but they are big mates again now and could have a superstar on their hands in the shape of £300,000 Poetisa Credit: Sportsfile - Subscription The latest Horse Racing Ireland update showed Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary's Gigginstown House Stud as the owner of Poetisa. Mullins and right-hand man Harold Kirk saw off Nicky Henderson to land the Cheltenham winner at the Goffs sales in May. Formerly trained by Toby Bulgin, Poetisa won a mares' bumper at the home of jumps in April. Sent off 20-1 under former champion jockey Brian Hughes, she stayed on well up the hill after meeting trouble to win by a neck. Poetisa commanded a price tag of £42,000 as a three-year-old but her value soared after the Cheltenham victory. And Mullins clearly liked what he saw, with her pedigree suggesting big things lie in store in the future. Poetisa is from the same family as multiple Grade 1-winning superstar Macs Joy. The Jessica Harrington-trained hurdler won over half a million quid from 31 career races, which included nine victories. And O'Leary will be hoping for something similar from his newly-acquired mare. Gigginstown House were also listed as the new owners of French import Mino Des Mottes, who it is thought is also in training with Mullins. But it's Poetisa who Kirk has big hopes for. And he had already decided her target for the Festival when splashing the cash a few months ago. The bloodstock expert said: "She's a Cheltenham winner already and she'll only improve. "She was very classy when she won. She's a lovely mare and hopefully she'll go down the mares' route over hurdles as there's a big programme for these mares now." Poetisa can be backed at 10-1 for the Mares Novices' Hurdle, with Mullins' Champion Bumper winner Bambino Fever the 3-1 favourite. Why Gianluigi Donnarumma will struggle to get ANY Premier League transfer, despite showing up English clubs in Europe

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) GIANLUIGI DONNARUMMA has this habit of playing brilliantly against English clubs. So it might seem a bit weird that even though the Italian goalkeeper is dreaming of a big-money move to the Premier League from PSG, he might end up being left high and dry in the French capital. Donnarumma broke England's hearts in the Euro 2020 final penalty shoot-out at Wembley by saving Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka's spot-kicks. In the Champions League last season, he continued his spell over England as he was outstanding against Aston Villa, Arsenal and Liverpool. This was a huge reason why PSG ended up winning the competition for the first time in their history. A player with just 12 months left on his contract, that has not stopped him from being dumped by PSG boss Luis Enrique for new arrival Lucas Chevalier. Donnarumma knows he is now toast at PSG. And he would love to play in England but the problem is that despite his fine reputation, he could still struggle to find a Premier League club. The player's agent, Enzo Raiola said: 'It's true, the Premier League is very intriguing to us. I saw that many of my clients who play in the Premier League think it is the best step, being the most competitive league in the world. 'As of today, I have not received even the slightest hint from Italy that clubs could start negotiations for Gigio in this window. I won't exclude anything for the future, but so far no Italian clubs have stepped forward. 'On a purely financial level, nobody has the means to take a step towards Donnarumma.' Intriguingly, the only English club to express an interest so far are Manchester City although there have not been concrete talks. This is despite the fact that Ederson, Stefan Ortega and the newly returned James Trafford are already at the club. Donnarumma makes some spectacular saves in big moments but equally, he is not great with the ball at his feet which is one reason why PSG manager Enrique has bombed him at PSG. And let's not forget that Donnarumma is not even that good at dealing with crosses. People might say he is the best keeper in the world but he really is not. He is decent, but Alisson at Liverpool and Real Madrid's Thibaut Courtois are better. 11 11 Donnarumma helped PSG to the Champions League title last term Credit: AP 11 Liverpool are sorted for goalkeepers with Alisson and Giorgi Mamardashvili Credit: Getty 11 Man United have Andre Onana who would need to leave first Credit: Getty Maybe if City sell Ederson, Donnarumma might have a chance of playing in England but this looks unlikely. So, elsewhere, what are his other options? Manchester United do not want to sign him, although even if they did, Ruben Amorim would have to move on Andre Onana first. And those huge Donnarumma wages would be a problem. Chelsea are not looking for a keeper. Neither are Arsenal, who are happy with David Raya. Liverpool have Alisson while new keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili has arrived from Valencia, having been bought a year ago. Newcastle have signed Aaron Ramsdale to compete with Nick Pope while Spurs are happy with Guglielmo Vicario. So, maybe Donnarumma could take the money and head off to Saudi Arabia but it would not be ideal for Italy that their team captain would be playing in the Middle East ahead of a World Cup. Although he will not sign a fresh deal at PSG, maybe he could still return to the side. This seems unlikely but his replacement, Chavalier, hardly covered himself in glory in the Uefa Super Cup against Spurs in Udine on Wednesday. Donnarumma is only 26 so maybe he will still get that dream move to the Premier League but right now, it looks as though it is unlikely to be this summer. 11 Donnarumma was Italy's penalty shootout hero against England in Euro 2020 Credit: AP 11 Lucas Chevalier has taken Donnarumma's spot at PSG Credit: Getty 11 Chelsea are happy with their stockpile of goalkeepers Credit: Alamy 11 Ruben Amorim may be left with his current options Credit: Getty
