Why Gianluigi Donnarumma will struggle to get ANY Premier League transfer, despite showing up English clubs in Europe

GIANLUIGI DONNARUMMA has this habit of playing brilliantly against English clubs.
So it might seem a bit weird that even though the Italian goalkeeper is dreaming of a big-money move to the Premier League from PSG, he might end up being left high and dry in the French capital.

Donnarumma broke England's hearts in the Euro 2020 final penalty shoot-out at Wembley by saving Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka's spot-kicks.
In the Champions League last season, he continued his spell over England as he was outstanding against Aston Villa, Arsenal and Liverpool. This was a huge reason why PSG ended up winning the competition for the first time in their history.
A player with just 12 months left on his contract, that has not stopped him from being dumped by PSG boss Luis Enrique for new arrival Lucas Chevalier.
Donnarumma knows he is now toast at PSG. And he would love to play in England but the problem is that despite his fine reputation, he could still struggle to find a Premier League club.

Right now, do not put any money on him appearing in English football's top-flight in September.
The player's agent, Enzo Raiola said: 'It's true, the Premier League is very intriguing to us. I saw that many of my clients who play in the Premier League think it is the best step, being the most competitive league in the world.
'As of today, I have not received even the slightest hint from Italy that clubs could start negotiations for Gigio in this window. I won't exclude anything for the future, but so far no Italian clubs have stepped forward.
'On a purely financial level, nobody has the means to take a step towards Donnarumma.'

That is because he earns about £200,000-a-week which is why no Serie A clubs are interested in taking him.
Intriguingly, the only English club to express an interest so far are Manchester City although there have not been concrete talks.
This is despite the fact that Ederson, Stefan Ortega and the newly returned James Trafford are already at the club.
Donnarumma makes some spectacular saves in big moments but equally, he is not great with the ball at his feet which is one reason why PSG manager Enrique has bombed him at PSG.
And let's not forget that Donnarumma is not even that good at dealing with crosses. People might say he is the best keeper in the world but he really is not.
He is decent, but Alisson at Liverpool and Real Madrid's Thibaut Courtois are better.

Maybe if City sell Ederson, Donnarumma might have a chance of playing in England but this looks unlikely.
So, elsewhere, what are his other options? Manchester United do not want to sign him, although even if they did, Ruben Amorim would have to move on Andre Onana first. And those huge Donnarumma wages would be a problem.
Chelsea are not looking for a keeper. Neither are Arsenal, who are happy with David Raya.
Liverpool have Alisson while new keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili has arrived from Valencia, having been bought a year ago.
Newcastle have signed Aaron Ramsdale to compete with Nick Pope while Spurs are happy with Guglielmo Vicario.
So, maybe Donnarumma could take the money and head off to Saudi Arabia but it would not be ideal for Italy that their team captain would be playing in the Middle East ahead of a World Cup.
Although he will not sign a fresh deal at PSG, maybe he could still return to the side. This seems unlikely but his replacement, Chavalier, hardly covered himself in glory in the Uefa Super Cup against Spurs in Udine on Wednesday.
Donnarumma is only 26 so maybe he will still get that dream move to the Premier League but right now, it looks as though it is unlikely to be this summer.
