The Apprentice star becomes dad for first time at 50: 'Nothing prepares you'

Metro05-05-2025

A star of The Apprentice has said that 'nothing prepares you' for fatherhood after becoming a dad for the first time at 50.
Tre Lowe, who reached the interview stage of the BBC business reality competition in 2024, shared the news of his baby's imminent arrival in November.
He first became known to the British public in 2000 when his UK garage group Architechs landed a number three hit with debut single Body Groove.
After impressing Lord Alan Sugar throughout The Apprentice last year, Tre almost made it to the end, but the series was eventually won by Rachel Woolford.
Following his time on the BBC show, during which he gained many new fans, he revealed that he and his wife Enas Daeki, 34, were expecting their first child together.

During the early May Bank Holiday weekend, he shared the happy news of his son's birth with an announcement on Instagram.
'And just like that, I'm a father. There's nothing that prepares you for this moment,' he wrote in his caption.
'No book, no podcast, no advice. Just you, your son, and a whole new frequency of love.
'Real talk – the road to get here hasn't been easy. It's been full of plot twists, growing pains, and challenging moments. But every single one shaped me. Broke me open. Built something real. Something solid.'
He continued: 'Now I look at my son and everything makes sense. My mission. My why.
'To everyone who's walked with me, held space – I see you. I thank you. I love you.'
Tre then turned his loving focus onto his wife: 'To my wife Enas – you are power, beauty, grace and grit. What you've done, what you've carried, what you've become. I'm in awe.
'And to my son… I've got you. Through everything. Through the madness and the magic. From now till my last breath – I've got you. The next chapter begins now. Let's get it.'
In the replies, Tre and Enas received comments of love from many friends and family, including Mis-Teeq's Su-Elise and 2022 Apprentice winner Harpreet Kaur.
Harpreet said, 'Congratulations! Beautiful!' while Su-Elise commented, 'Huge congratulations to you both. Love you guys. We're just so happy for you! Welcome to parenthood.'
Tre and Enas, who are based in the Notting Hill area of London, tied the knot in 2023, shortly before Tre began his run on The Apprentice. More Trending
Speaking to MailOnline after his stint, Tre said that his then-unborn son would be in safe hands if Lord Sugar ended up being his godfather.
'If anything happened to me. I know my kid is going to be all right. If Lord Sugar was the godparent, can you imagine the wisdom that kid would have.'
He added: 'If I could add Lord Sugar to the mix of [my family], my kid would be sorted. I mean, it would have the creativity of me, so that side would be sorted, and it would have the entrepreneurial side from Lord Sugar.'

Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly in King's Birthday Honours

The two TV presenters, who have fronted the series together since 2014, will be recognised in this year's list which will be revealed on Friday, The Daily Mail said. Queen Camilla, who attends Silver Swans – classes for elderly ballet dancers run by the Royal Academy of Dance – is known to tune in to BBC's Strictly Come Dancing and has described herself as one of Strictly's 'greatest fans'. Winkleman, 53, is also behind the gameshow, The Traitors, for which she took home the 2023 award for Entertainment Performance at the Baftas. (Image: Ian West/PA Wire) The London-born broadcaster formerly presented on BBC Radio Two until 2024, helming different slots and programmes on the station including the comedy quiz series Hot Gossip, the Claudia Winkleman Arts Show and Claudia On Sunday. Her co-host, Daly, 56, presented the series since it first launched in 2004 alongside the late Sir Bruce Forsyth until he stepped down from the role in 2014. During that time the model took part in the 2008 Strictly Children In Need special where she won the title with professional dancer Anton Du Beke. The recognition comes amid a turbulent year for the Strictly team with reports alleging inappropriate behaviour from contestants and professional dancers. Most recently, EastEnders star James Borthwick was suspended from the BBC after a video emerged of the actor using a disabled slur on set of the dance programme. This comes after Welsh opera singer and BBC Radio Wales presenter, Wynne Evans, said he had been dropped by the BBC, following an apology saying that he used 'inappropriate language' during the launch of the Strictly Come Dancing tour. In 2024, the BBC launched a review into professional dancer Giovanni Pernice after accusations from contestant Amanda Abbington of 'inappropriate, mean, nasty bullying' behaviour during her time on the 2023 series. Italian dancer Pernice, who 'rejected any suggestion of abusive or threatening behaviour', and welcomed the conclusion of a BBC review which upheld 'some, but not all' of the complaints made by the actress against him. David Beckham is expected be awarded a knighthood in the King's Birthday Honours, according to reports last week, having previously been awarded an OBE in 2003.

David Harbour explains his dating preference after Lily Allen split

David Harbour has explained why he doesn't date 'normal people' out of the spotlight as he splits from singer Lily Allen. The Thunderbolts actor, 50, married British singer Lily in 2020 after meeting on the celebrity dating app Raya. The pair has split in recent months, but both have remained quiet about the details of their separation. Now, the actor has spoken about the common pitfalls of dating, revealing that there are additional challenges as a celebrity. Speaking to Scarlett Johansson for Interview Magazine, the actor compared his experience to a scene in the new Apple TV series, The Studio. 'They just did an episode where Seth Rogen is the head of a studio and he's dating an oncologist. They go to an event together, and she's like, 'Oh my god, it's so sweet what you do with movies.' He's like, 'Hey, you cure cancer. But once the cancer's cured, people go to the movies and find meaning.' The other doctors start making fun of him and he kind of loses it. 'There's something about that ideology with normal people.' He explained that although he tried to date people who weren't in the entertainment industry when he was young, he finds it challenging. 'I tried to date lawyers and business people in my twenties, but there's something about being a carny freak that normal people don't get.' In late 2024, it was revealed that David and Lily had broken up. Soon after, it emerged he had been back on dating apps while they were still together. It was then claimed he'd also been in a three-year-long secret relationship with a costume designer he met on the set of one of his movies. In February 2025, David then appeared to go public with an aspiring actress and model 22 years his junior. MailOnline reported that Harbour is dating Ellie Fallon, an aspiring model and actress, 22 years younger than him. The couple reportedly met in Atlanta, where Stranger Things season five is being filmed, and they went on a trip to India together around New Year. Lily has been open with her fans that she has been looking after herself after struggling recently. In January, she checked herself into a trauma treatment centre near her US home. A source told MailOnline at the time: 'It was very painful for Lily to return home. David used to be her saviour, and now he's a trigger for her. 'Lily settled her kids back into the family home and took them to school for their new term, then flew herself straight to rehab. 'She went a day earlier than intended as she felt wobbly and desperate to escape.' More Trending At the time, she took a break from her podcast Miss Me? with Miquita Oliver, telling her fans in her last episode before her break that she wasn't 'in a good place'. 'I'm just so … I'm really not in a good place,' she said. 'I know I've been talking about it for months, but I've been spiralling and spiralling and spiralling, and it's got out of control.' 'I just can't concentrate on anything except the pain that I'm going through. 'It's really, really hard. I'm going away next week. You're not gonna hear me for a few weeks, listeners.' Got a story?
