Michigan Lands Commitment From Top RB Prospect Savion Hiter

The Michigan Wolverines are already having a better week than their last one, as they secured a 2026 commitment from five-star running back prospect Savion Hiter.
Hiter announced his commitment to Michigan at his high school, Louisa County High in Virginia. He chose the Wolverines over Tennessee, Georgia and Michigan's chief rival, Ohio State. Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore and running backs coach Tony Alford – who was previously Ohio State's running back coach from 2015-23 – were "instrumental" in getting Hiter to commit to Michigan instead of Tennessee, according to ESPN.
The 5-foot-11 back weighs in at 200 pounds and is the No. 1 running back prospect in the country, as well as the top player in Virginia, according to 247Sports. Hiter is viewed as a potential NFL player who thrives while running inside or outside, per 247Sports.
As he heads into his senior season at Louisa County High School, Hiter has already proven to be a force in the backfield. He rushed for 1,698 yards and 26 rushing touchdowns on 156 carries in the 2024 season with another 199 receiving yards on top of that, following a transfer from Woodberry Forest High School, where he played in 2023. Moreover, Hiter is a two-way player who totaled 56 tackles, seven sacks, an interception and three defensive touchdowns in 2024.

Louisville five-star defensive lineman schedules Tennessee football visit
Tennessee is recruiting toward its 2028 football signing class. Five-star defensive lineman Kellan Hall will visit Tennessee for the Vols' game versus Arkansas on Oct. 11 at Neyland Stadium, according to Allen Trieu of 247Sports. He will also visit Ohio State, Alabama and Louisville during the 2025 football season. The 6-foot-4, 260-pound prospect is from Christian Academy of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky. 247Sports ranks Hall as the No. 3 defensive lineman in the class and No. 1 player in Kentucky. He visited the Vols for the Tennessee-UTEP game in 2024. Tennessee offered him a scholarship on April 11 during a visit to spring practice. Kentucky was the first school to offer Hall a scholarship on May 15, 2024. Other Power Four schools to offer him a scholarship include Michigan, Vanderbilt, Oklahoma, SMU, Indiana, Wisconsin and Georgia. Tennessee does not have a commitment in its 2028 football recruiting class. Linebacker JP Peace is the Vols' only 2027 football commitment. Breaking down the 10 Detroit Lions rookie performances vs. Dolphins
As the preseason rolls onward, the Detroit Lions are going to use every chance that they can get to evaluate the backend of their roster. Once again, the team's 2025 rookie class impressed. A total of 10 first-year players suited up in the preseason matchup against the Miami Dolphins, and many of them made quite the case for a roster spot once the regular season begins. Undrafted wide receiver Jackson Meeks put on a show for the second week in a row. The rookie who played for Georgia and Syracuse made the first reception of the game and went on to finish the day with a team-high 93 yards as well as a touchdown. He was used heavily on special teams as well, taking the field for nearly half of the unit's snaps. He did make one rookie mistake, getting flagged for an illegal shift later in the game. Third-round pick Isaac TeSlaa also had himself a day. The Michigan native was another big contributor on offense, hauling in four receptions for 41 yards and a trip to the endzone. He had some opportunities that were missed as well, including dropping an overthrown pass from Kyle Allen and having a first-down reception called back due to an illegal forward pass penalty. Dominic Lovett wasn't as productive on offense as he was in the previous preseason outings. His biggest contribution in this game came on special teams as a gunner. In the third quarter, he scooped up the ball off of a muffed punt by the Dolphins and returned it within a few yards of the endzone—although you aren't allowed to advance a muffed punt. Zach Horton got a significant amount of time on offense, taking the field for over 70% of the team's snaps. He displayed even more versatility than he has in the other preseason games, being used as an in-line tight end, fullback, slot receiver, and even lining out wide on a few plays. He caught his first two passes of his career, totaling 15 yards. He, too, couldn't escape the eyes of the referees, and was called for a holding penalty that negated a big run from Craig Reynolds. With many new faces in Detroit's secondary, undrafted cornerback Tyson Russell didn't make much of an impact as he had the week prior, but still recorded three tackles. Offensive lineman Mason Miller made the move from tackle to guard in this game, most likely due to the plethora of injuries that Detroit has in that position group right now. He played much better than he had earlier in the preseason, and even earned a shoutout from the broadcast crew for his blocking on long run from Jacob Saylors. Undrafted rookies Ian Kennelly and Keith Cooper both were named starters for this game and played on defense for a majority of Detroit's snaps. Cooper flashed some positional versatility, playing both as an interior defensive lineman and edge rusher. Wide receiver Jakobie Keeney-James had a quiet day, being targeted once but not recording any stats. Fan-favorite Ahmed Hassanein only played 10 snaps for Detroit before sustaining an injury that will cause him to miss some time this season. Updated status for three Tennessee wide receivers ahead of season opener versus Syracuse
No. 18 Tennessee practiced for the 13th time Tuesday ahead of its season opener Aug. 30. Rankings reflect the US LBM Coaches Poll. Following practice, Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel discussed the status of wide receivers Chris Brazzell II, Mike Matthews and Braylon Staley. "Mike has been with us for a long time," Heupel said. "There were a couple days where we limited him. Chris has been with us here the last few days, and Braylon was with us this last day as well." Brazzell II appeared in 13 games at Tennessee in 2024. He totaled 29 receptions for 333 yards and two touchdowns. In 11 games last season, Matthews recorded seven receptions, 90 yards and two touchdowns. Staley appeared in four games for the Vols in 2024, totaling three receptions for 21 yards. Tennessee will face Syracuse in Aflac Kickoff in its season opener. ABC will televise the nonconference matchup at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
