After returning to Morgan State, Diggs worked alongside legendary HBCU band directors Dr. Melvin Miles and Dr. Jorim Reid. Together, they helped prepare the Bears for their first-ever appearance at the prestigious Honda Battle of the Bands.
At Lincoln University of Missouri, Diggs served as Director of Bands, where he tripled the size of the Marching Musical Storm. He also introduced innovative curriculum development that strengthened the program's educational foundation. His achievements at Lincoln earned him respect throughout the HBCU music education community.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Diggs holds a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Gardner-Webb University. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Music Education at Boston University, with a focus on research examining equity in music education between Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and predominantly White Institutions (PWIs).
Now, at Delaware State, Diggs brings his extensive experience and forward-thinking approach to The Approaching Storm. He is committed to upholding the band's legacy of excellence while also fostering a culture of discipline and musical innovation.

Stefon Diggs already becoming ‘pain in the posterior' for Patriots with Week 1 status still unclear
The Stefon Diggs experience reportedly isn't going well in New England. Shortly after a tense exchange Thursday with Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel over the star receiver's Week 1 availability, NBC Sports Boston's Phil Perry shed a bit more light on a new marriage that's already on shaky ground. 'There are little signs that he's just becoming a bit of a pain in the posterior,' Perry said of Diggs when discussing Vrabel's outburst during the press conference on 'Quick Slants.' 'For Mike Vrabel to sort of have to be [Diggs'] public relations assistant and tell us what he really meant in his commentary to a member of the national media, I don't know if that irks Mike Vrabel or if he's just looking to go back and forth with somebody in the media.' New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs (8) reacts after catching a pass during a joint NFL football training camp with the Minnesota Vikings on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025, in Eagan, Minn. AP Diggs signed a three-year, $63.5 million contract with the Patriots in free agency after suffering a torn ACL last October when he played for the Texans. This week, the four-time Pro Bowler said he feels 'great' and 'we'll see about Week 1' during an appearance on the 'Scoop City' podcast, leaving fans and media to wonder if he will be on the field when the Patriots host the Raiders on Sept. 7. Dealing with Diggs may already not be worth it for the franchise, according to Perry. 'It all sort of adds up to, there's a lot going on with this guy for a guy who doesn't look like a No. 1 receiver anymore,' Perry said. Eric Canha-Imagn Images On NBC Sports Boston's 'Early Edition,' Perry echoed the same sentiment after being asked if Diggs is worth the 'headache.' 'How severe a headache is it? Because if we're talking a migraine, if it turns into a migraine, I'm gonna say no. I just don't think he's a No. 1 receiver at this point in time,' he said. 'Let's rephrase that: If he's a headache, in my opinion, not worth it. He's a No. 2 at this point in his career. I don't think he's going to be a thousand-yard receiver.' During the press conference on Thursday, Vrabel didn't address Diggs' comments specifically, but he noted that the veteran pass-catcher has 'been out here almost every day.' 'I'm excited of where he's at and we'll see when Week 1 comes, but he's going to practice today,' Vrabel said. 'Hopefully, he helps us in the red zone, but we can't predict the future about Week 1. I just know he's going to be out there today, and he works hard and he cares, which are two important things.'

Mike Vrabel has spicy exchange with Patriots reporter over Stefon Diggs question
Things got spicy in Minnesota when Mike Vrabel was at the podium. The first-year Patriots coach — never one to mince words when calling out the media — had a tense exchange Thursday with a reporter who inquired about comments made by star receiver Stefon Diggs over his Week 1 availability. 'Did you really believe that, Phil [Perry]? I mean, you're a smart guy. I don't know where you went to school – it wasn't Ohio State. But like, do you really believe that? Do you really believe that, Phil, or are you just trying to bait me into something?' Vrabel said. 5 Patriots coach Mike Vrabel had a spicy exchange with a reporter in August 2025. AP Perry of NBC Sports Boston then told Vrabel, 'I'm not baiting you into anything,' and added, '[Diggs] did say he wasn't sure he'd be ready for Week 1.' Vrabel, a Super Bowl-winning linebacker with the franchise, has put his own flair on the club since being named head coach in January. Beyond breaking up training camp skirmishes, Vrabel is making sure reporters are staying alert with questions. As the Patriots entered training camp in July, Vrabel scolded a Boston reporter for framing a question similarly to one that had already been asked. Ben Volin of the Boston Globe went on to flag himself for a 'total lack of focus.'

Mack Hollins Seems To Be a Roster Lock Following Preseason Opener
With the offseason program, most of training camp, and the first preseason game now behind us, we have a good idea of who's going to be on the Patriots' final roster. Of course, some spots are still subject to change, but most of the starting spots and key reserves we know. One of the most interesting position groups to watch this offseason has been the wide receivers. The team had probably the weakest receiver room in the league last year, but that couldn't be further from the truth now. Stefon Diggs and Mack Hollins were brought in as free agents, while Kyle Williams was drafted in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft. That trio joins DeMario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte, Javon Baker, Ja'Lynn Polk, and others. Hollins is an intriguing addition. The receiver has never put up elite numbers, and has played mostly backup roles for five different NFL teams. The Patriots only gave the veteran a two-year deal worth around $8 million, and the small deal combined with Hollins' lack of historical production would theoretically make Hollins far from a sure thing to make the team. Instead, though, after the preseason opener, it now seems like Hollins is indeed in the teams' plans for 2025. Why is that, you may ask? Well, Hollins was the lone receiver in the starting lineup for the Patriots against the Commanders. Hollins didn't receive any targets and only stayed on the field for 12 snaps before leaving with most of the other starters. Notably, Stefon Diggs was held out of the game due to a nagging knee injury. Still, even without Diggs, it's surprising that a veteran journeyman like Hollins received the start over a camp standout like Kayshon Boutte or the rookie Williams. It's clear that Hollins has the trust of Mike Vrabel. Earlier this offseason, Hollins dealt with an injury and missed the first part of training camp. The coach praised Hollins upon his return, though. 'Spent a lot of time here in the offseason, locked in, engaged,' Vrabel said. 'Rare for a player to be able to get that much information and not practice. That's hard. That's hard just even thinking back when I was in those opportunities to be able to do that and still understand the details and not practicing. So, locked in, ready to go, excited to see him get out there and practice.' It's probably fair to say at this point that Hollins is a roster lock. He's an experienced veteran who holds his own as a blocker and is a great locker room presence. Diggs, Hollins, Williams, and Douglas are likely locks at the position, while Boutte is probably closing in on lock status in his own right.
