Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Virat Kohli ended a 17-season title drought by winning their first Indian Premier League (IPL) crown, defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six runs in Tuesday's final in Ahmedabad.
RCB posted a modest 190/9, with Kohli, their leading scorer this season, contributing a composed 43. It was their remarkable bowling performance that secured the victory, restricting PBKS to 184/7 despite Shashank Singh's unbeaten 61 off 30 balls.
Kohli was visibly emotional upon realising RCB had finally shed the underachievers tag that had followed them since the league's inception in 2008.

Kohli was joined by his former RCB teammates, AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle, as he paid tribute to those who shaped the franchise over the years.
Speaking to broadcasters JioStar after the historic win, Kohli expressed his excitement about celebrating with RCB fans in Bengaluru. He was amazed after watching videos of the fireworks and jubilant scenes that had erupted across the city following the win.
'It's going to be something special," Kohli said, inviting De Villiers and Gayle to join the celebrations with fans in Bengaluru.

Chris Gayle revealed that a victory parade would be held in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
'The city is waiting—my God. I'm thinking about them. Imagine what the fans must be feeling now. Someone sent me a video – the entire city is filled with fireworks. The whole city. It's very special. Complaint against Virat Kohli over Bengaluru stadium stampede

Chinnaswamy Stadium stampede: Police complaint filed against Virat Kohli
A complaint has been submitted at the Cubbon Park Police Station against cricketer Virat Kohli by social activist H.M. Venkatesh in the recent Bengaluru stampede case that left 11 dead, 33 others injured. The Police have stated that the complaint will be considered under an already registered case and examined during the course of the ongoing investigation of the stampede incident, according to news agency ANI. Previously, four officials of RCB and event management firm DNA Entertainment Private Limited were arrested on Friday in connection with the stampede outside Chinnaswamy stadium that killed 11 people, police sources told PTI. They were remanded to 14-day judicial custody. The RCB and event management officials were nabbed in a joint operation by the crime branch and Bengaluru Police. After medical examination, they were produced before the court amid tight security. Police action followed the FIR registered on June 5 against RCB, DNA Entertainment Private Limited and KSCA. On Thursday, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddarmaiah instructed the DGP and IGP of the state to immediately arrest the representatives of RCB and DNA event managers and KSCA for the stampede, as prima facie there was "irresponsibility" and "carelessness" on their part.
