QRSAM Missile System: In view of the recent escalation of conflict between India and Pakistan and the ongoing tensions with China, the Indian government is focusing on strengthening the country's air defence system. The Defence Ministry, in the coming months, will present a crucial proposal to the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), in which there is a plan to include the Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM) system. This missile system will play a significant role in strengthening the security of the country's borders. As per reports, the Indian Defence Ministry is planning to purchase as many as three regiments of QRSAM missiles with an estimated cost of Rs 30,000 crore. These missiles will be deployed in the western and northern borders. The proposal will be placed for approval in the DAC meeting to be held in the last week of June 2025. QRSAM Missile
Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile is capable of detecting and destroying enemy's aircraft, drones and missiles, specially those flying at high speeds. The missile's speed is up to 6000 km per hour. Apart from this, its range is from 3 to 30 kms. Also, its height ranges from 98 feet to 33,000 feet.
This missile system will work with India's existing MRSAM and Akash systems, further strengthening security against enemy's aerial threats. Deployment Of QRSAM

India's AI regulation can be a model: Google executive Wilson White
Google's stance on the optimism and pro-innovation around artificial intelligence (AI) is very similar to the principles adopted by the Indian government under its IndiaAI Mission, the company's vice-president of government affairs and public policy in the Asia-Pacific Region, Wilson White, said. 'We see a very clear trend, particularly here in the Asia-Pacific region, on a much more robust view of how to regulate AI in ways that spur innovation, and are responsive to the optimism and pro-innovation kind of orientation around AI that exists in the region,' White told Business Standard. This approach, adopted by Asian countries such as India, Japan, and Singapore, is very different from the path taken by some of the Western countries and regions, such as the European Union, he said, adding that the ASEAN countries were 'expressly stepping away' from such prohibitive regulations. This approach, he said, aligns with Google's path and thinking around the development and deployment of AI to capitalise on the opportunities presented by the technology, White said. India's approach to regulating AI, where the government is very 'clear-eyed' about the risks associated with the technology, but also the dangers of overregulation in the early days, should be a model approach to lawmaking for AI, he said. 'For us, the mantra that we use is bold, responsible, together. We want to be bold and push the bounds of technology, publish our foundational research so that others, like small businesses, can benefit and innovate from that as well,' White said. The APAC government affairs and regulatory chief is on a short visit to India this week. There are some risks with AI that have been identified by experts across the globe. In such areas, Google will deliberately go slower to ensure that the company is not doing more harm than good, he said. The only way to continue with such research and development is to do so in conjunction with the entire ecosystem, especially startups that push the bounds of innovation, he said. Despite the rapid advancements made by companies and countries around AI models, large language models, and large reasoning models, the technology is still in the early days of development, White said, adding that the investments being made by the respective companies or countries were because the 'promise of AI' was real. 'We are seeing it in the areas of healthcare, where we are now able to get ahead of diseases that have vexed humankind for a long time. We are seeing it in places like agriculture and education, so I think it's clear to folks that the promise of AI is real,' White said.

Indian Air Force to get advanced indigenous smart anti-airfield weapon for fighter jet fleet
New Delhi [India], June 17 (ANI): In what would be a big success for indigenous weapon systems, the Indian Air Force is looking to acquire an advanced version of the Indigenous Smart Anti-Airfield Weapon, which would be fitted on almost the entire fighter jet fleet of the force, including the Su-30 MKI. A proposal from the Indian Air Force to get the satellite-guided version of the SAAW air launched glide bomb is expected to be discussed by the Defence Ministry soon. This would be able to hit targets with accuracy at 100 Km strike range, defence sources told ANI. SAAW, an indigenously designed and developed 120 kg class smart weapon developed by DRDO, is capable of engaging ground targets with high precision up to a range of 100 kms. The lightweight high precision guided bomb is one of the world-class weapons systems. SAAW is indigenously designed and developed by DRDO's Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Hyderabad has been developed with an aim of engaging ground enemy airfield assets such as radars, bunkers, taxi tracks, and runways etc. The stand off weapon is similar to the stand off weapons used in the Balakot air strikes on targets in Pakistan. The proposal is coming up for discussion at a time when the Indian forces are looking for long range stand off weapon systems and have tasted success in a big way during Operation Sindoor against Pakistani terror and military targets. The SAAW is one of the successful projects carried out by the DRDO. The DRDO has also offered the SAAW missiles to the defence forces under the emergency procurement process to equip the forces rapidly for future conflicts. Israeli data security platform Coralogix raises $115 million
Israeli data security platform Coralogix has raised $115 million (about ₹992 crore) in a series E funding round led by NewView Capital and plans to deploy a significant chunk of the capital in India. The company plans to increase its market share, especially in compliance-intensive and fast-scaling sectors like BFSI, IT & Telecom, Logistics, and EdTech, a company statement said. "A significant portion of this capital will be deployed in India, which stands among its top three markets globally. "As part of this investment, Coralogix will significantly expand its office in Gurugram, and also accelerate hiring in Bengaluru and Mumbai towards actively building out engineering, R&D, and customer success teams. Over the next five years, the company expects to create hundreds of high-value tech jobs in roles such as AI and data science, cloud security, customer engineering, and enterprise sales," it said. Coralogix's Indian portfolio includes customers such as Postman, Jupiter Money, Meesho, BookMyShow, BharatPe, CoinDCX, Razorpay and Delhivery . The funding round, which values the Tel Aviv-headquartered firm at over USD 1 billion, also saw participation from the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) and NextEquity.
