Char Dham yatra resumes after 24-hr ban
Garhwal division commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey said, "The 24-hour ban on the Char Dham yatra has been lifted.

Meanwhile, public works department (PWD) secretary Pankaj Pandey wrote to employees of the department, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and Border Roads Organisation (BRO), asking them to follow certain guidelines during the monsoon season. He instructed the authorities concerned to identify landslide-prone areas and make necessary arrangements such as earthmovers and deploy manpower at these locations to promptly clear roads blocked by landslides.
"All executing agency officials/employees will coordinate with the local administration and leave for personnel will be approved only after the district magistrate's approval in emergency situations. All executing agency officials/employees will be technically available (via satellite phone, mobile, etc.) and will share relief work through email, WhatsApp groups, departmental portals, etc.," the letter stated.

Panaji: The high court of Bombay at Goa on Tuesday called for a response from central and state authorities in a petition challenging permissions, approvals, and work orders issued for the construction of a tourist resort on the Surla plateau in the Mhadei wildlife sanctuary, which is to be notified as a tiger reserve. In July 2023, the court directed state to notify the sanctuary and adjacent sanctuaries as a tiger reserve following recommendations from the national tiger conservation authority under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, Goa Foundation submitted to the high court. The land designated for the resort lies entirely within the core area of the proposed tiger reserve, an ecologically-sensitive region known for its rich biodiversity, including tigers, sloth bears, leopards, pangolins, vipers, and over 300 unique plant species. Despite the absence of any stay on the high court's directions and the pendency of proceedings seeking contempt action against the state for non-compliance with HC directions, authorities like the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) and Goa Forest Development Corporation proceeded to issue approvals and work orders for the resort. Bandikui link to Del-Mum expressway opens today
Jaipur: Travel time between Jaipur and Delhi will now reduce to 3–3.5 hours, with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) opening the 65-km Bagrana–Bandikui link of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway from 9am Wednesday. A senior NHAI official said, "The route is being opened on a "trial run" until the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) announces a formal inauguration date." The link connects Bagrana on Jaipur's outskirts to Bandikui on the main expressway. With this, motorists from Jaipur, especially from Rotary Circle, will no longer need to go via Dausa on Agra Road to access the expressway. Instead, they can take a slip lane at Bagrana crossing. Vehicles coming from Ring Road can use the cloverleaf ramp to enter the new linkway, offering faster, direct access to the expressway and reducing congestion. Similarly, vehicles coming from the Bandikui side through this linkway will take an elevated ramp. The ramp of this cloverleaf has two exits - one for the Jaipur-bound flank of the Agra Road and the second for the Ring Road. "This linkway will help vehicles travel between Jaipur and the entry and exit points of the DND (Delhi-Noida Direct) Flyway in 2.5 hours. However, it may take another 30 to 45 minutes to reach the New Delhi railway station or the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport," another NHAI official added. Madurai passengers face train diversions, partial cancellations
Chennai: Passengers travelling across Madurai division will face disruptions from July 1 to 20 as Southern Railway undertakes corridor engineering work, affecting multiple long-distance trains across Tamil Nadu. From July 3 to 15, the Coimbatore–Nagercoil Express (train no 16322) was short-terminated at Dindigul instead of continuing to Nagercoil. Likewise, the Tiruchchirappalli–Rameswaram Express (16849) did not run beyond Manamadurai on July 7-11 and July 14-15. Its return service (16850) will start from Manamadurai instead of the island terminus on these dates. Several major express trains were also diverted via alternative routes to bypass closed sections. The Mayiladuthurai–Sengottai Express (16847), running on July 6, 9, and 13, skipped Madurai and Dindigul, instead travelling through Trichy, Karaikkudi, and Virudhunagar.
