BJP slams Rahul for accusing Govt of targeting Vadra
Gandhi had alleged that the government was carrying out a political witch hunt against Vadra following the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filing a chargesheet against him in a money-laundering case related to alleged irregularities in a land deal in Shikohpur, Haryana.
Addressing a press conference here, party spokesperson Tuhin Sinha said Rahul's comments revealed not only his support for Vadra but also his potential complicity in the alleged wrongdoing.
'With his statement, Rahul Gandhi has made it evident that he was fully aware of his brother-in-law's murky dealings — and perhaps even involved,' Sinha said.
The BJP leader also referred to the National Herald case, in which Rahul Gandhi is currently out on bail, alleging that it too involves a suspicious financial trail.
'Instead of attributing political motives, Robert Vadra should be answering questions about his modus operandi. And let's not forget the National Herald case, in which Rahul Gandhi is on bail, involves a hawala money trail. The Gandhi family owes the country an explanation,' Sinha added.
Citing the ED chargesheet, the BJP noted that Vadra's company reportedly had only Rs 1 lakh at the time of executing the controversial land deal raising questions about how such a transaction was possible without prior political knowledge or involvement.
The BJP also hit out at Gandhi's recent comments made during a public meeting in Assam's Chaygaon, where he said that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, 'who thinks he is a king,' would be jailed by the people of the state for corruption.
Calling it a "threat" to a sitting chief minister, Sinha said Gandhi's remark was not only undemocratic but also displayed a lack of respect for the legal process.
'Someone who so brazenly threatens to have an elected Chief Minister arrested, without any legal basis, cannot be expected to respect judicial and investigative institutions,' Sinha said. 'There is not a single allegation against Himanta Biswa Sarma. This kind of rhetoric shows the Congress continues to operate with the same authoritarian mindset it did during the Emergency.'
On the issue of alleged political interference in investigations, Sinha also dismissed Congress claims of vendetta in the case involving Bhupesh Baghel's son, saying that elections cannot be a reason to halt or delay legal proceedings.
'Elections happen regularly in India. That doesn't mean investigating agencies need to seek political approval before acting,' he said.

AIADMK's Palaniswami Sparks Controversy With Temple Land Ownership Promise For Delta Residents
Tamil Nadu's opposition leader Edappadi K Palaniswami has ignited a fresh political controversy by pledging to grant formal land ownership rights to families residing on temple properties across the state's delta region, should his AIADMK party regain power. The promise has drawn sharp criticism from political commentators and sparked renewed debate over temple land management. Palaniswami defended his proposal by highlighting the long-term residence of numerous families on temple-owned land, arguing that his previous administration had initiated steps toward regularizing their occupancy. During his tenure as Chief Minister, he had announced a comprehensive scheme whereby the government would conduct land assessments, compensate temples appropriately, and subsequently issue ownership documents to current residents. The former Chief Minister acknowledged that legal challenges had previously derailed the initiative, with court interventions resulting in stay orders that prevented implementation. He expressed confidence that a future AIADMK government would successfully navigate these legal obstacles and complete the ownership transfer process for affected families. However, the proposal has faced immediate pushback from political analysts who question both its legality and appropriateness. Sumanth Raman, a prominent political commentator, strongly condemned the plan through social media, emphasizing that temple lands remain outside government ownership and cannot be arbitrarily redistributed. He characterized Palaniswami's promise as fundamentally flawed and politically irresponsible. The controversy extends beyond land ownership issues to broader questions about temple administration and fund utilization. During his ongoing statewide campaign, Palaniswami has consistently attacked the ruling DMK government's approach to temple management, accusing them of misappropriating religious institution funds for secular purposes. Palaniswami has specifically criticized the DMK's practice of using temple revenues to establish educational institutions, arguing that such expenditures represent improper diversion of religious funds. He contends that the state government should finance educational infrastructure through its own budget rather than utilizing temple resources designated for religious purposes. The DMK leadership has responded forcefully to these accusations, citing existing legal frameworks that explicitly permit such fund utilization. The HR&CE Act provides clear authorization for temple institutions to allocate surplus funds toward educational and charitable activities, making Palaniswami's criticism legally questionable. Chief Minister MK Stalin has characterized Palaniswami's position as reflecting BJP ideological influence rather than traditional AIADMK policies. This accusation suggests that the opposition leader has shifted toward more religiously conservative positions that align with national BJP narratives about temple autonomy and Hindu religious rights. Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin escalated the political rhetoric by labeling Palaniswami a "Sanghi," implying ideological alignment with RSS-BJP thinking rather than authentic AIADMK principles. This characterization represents an attempt to portray the opposition leader as abandoning his party's historical positions in favor of external ideological influences. The temple land ownership promise reflects broader political calculations about rural constituency appeals and religious sentiment mobilization. Palaniswami's strategy appears designed to attract support from families currently residing on temple properties while simultaneously positioning his party as protective of religious institutions against alleged DMK mismanagement.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a complaint under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), 1999, against Myntra Designs Private Limited, its associated entities, and directors over alleged violations totaling Rs 1,654.35 crore, the agency announced on Wednesday. The action was initiated by ED's Bengaluru Zonal Office following credible information that Myntra Designs Private Limited (Myntra) and its related companies are doing Multi Brand Retail Trade (MBRT) in the guise of 'Wholesale Cash & Carry', allegedly in violation of the extant FDI Policy. ED's Investigation Against Myntra ED said its investigation under the provisions of FEMA, 1999 revealed that 'Myntra Designs Pvt Ltd had declared that they were engaged in the business of 'wholesale cash & carry' and invited and received FDI from foreign investors equivalent to Rs 1654,35,08,981 and that they sold majority of their goods to Vector E-Commerce Pvt Ltd (who sold the goods in retail to the ultimate customer).' 'That Vector E-Commerce Pvt Ltd and Myntra Designs Pvt Ltd are related parties and belong to the same group or group of companies,' said the agency. It further said that Vector E-Commerce Pvt Ltd was created and continued to be used as a corporate entity to bifurcate the B2C (business to customer i.e. Myntra Designs Pvt Ltd to retail customers) transaction into B2B (Myntra Designs Pvt Ltd to Vector E-Commerce Pvt Ltd) and then B2C (Vector E-Commerce Pvt Ltd to retail customers). ED investigation also revealed that Myntra Designs Pvt Ltd was actually carrying out multi-brand retail trading in the guise of 'wholesale cash & carry'. 'Even otherwise, Myntra Designs Pvt Ltd have not satisfied the condition laid down for 'wholesale cash and carry trading' as they have made cent per cent sales to Vector E-Commerce Pvt Ltd which is in contravention of amendment dated April 1, 2010 and October 1, 2010 which permitted only 25 per cent sale to companies belonging to the same group or group companies.' As per the ED, Myntra Designs Pvt Ltd and others have contravened the provisions as per section 6(3)(b) of the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 and Consolidated FDI Policy dated April 1, 2010 and consolidated FDI Policy dated October 1, 2010 to the tune of Rs. 1654,35,08,981.
