Nilai police chief Supt Abdul Malik Hasim said the victim, in her 30s, filed the report at the Nilai police station at 11.23 am, saying that she had dealt with an individual from an Umrah travel agency who offered the Haj package on Jan 14. 'The victim, who works for a local airline, made several transfers totaling RM194,970 to the agency's account as full payment for the package. 'However, she realised she had been scammed on March 15 after finding out that the agency was no longer in operation and she would not be able to perform the Haj as promised,' he said in a statement today. District police chief Supt Noraidin Ag Maidin said the Yamaha 15ZR ridden from Kota Kinabalu towards Tuaran collided with the rear side of a Perodua Alza at 5.55am before hitting a concrete barrier. Advertisement Mohd Azli suffered severe head and body injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, while his 26-year-old pillion rider from Lawas, who was not wearing a helmet, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Tuaran Hospital. The Alza driver, 50, was unhurt. College Student Murder: Police Record Statements From 19 Individuals
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 19 (Bernama) -- Police have recorded the statements of 19 individuals to assist investigations into the suspected murder of a female college student at her family's home in USJ 2/1, Subang Jaya on Thursday. Subang Jaya police chief ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the individuals included the victim's family members, friends and witnesses, and that the investigation will continue to identify the true motive and the suspect involved. 'No arrests have been made so far, and any further developments will be announced,' he said in a statement here tonight, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Dr Akmal, Hilman to be charged in court soon
KUALA LUMPUR: Merlimau assemblyman Datuk Dr Muhammad Akmal Salleh and Gombak Setia assemblyman Muhammad Hilman Idham will be charged in court soon, according to the Attorney General's Office (AGC). The AGC in a statement today announced that based on the evidence and statements obtained, the department has decided to file charges under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code (Act 574) against Dr Akmal and Muhammad Hilman Idham. 'This department has examined the investigation papers submitted by the Royal Malaysia Police regarding the statements made by Dr Akmal on the Facebook page 'Akmal Saleh' and Muhammad Hilman via the TikTok platform ' 'The statements made by the individuals were found to have threatened public order or constituted improper use of network facilities or network services,' the statement said. The same statement informed that charges will also be made against Chandrasegaran Subramaniam and Siti Hajar Aflah Sharuddin, in relation to the statements uploaded on the TikTok accounts 'cikguchandra3' and 'SHA_Abrienda' respectively. 'Siti Hajar will also be charged under Act 574 while Chandrasegaran will be charged under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1988 (Act 588). 'All charges will be presented at the Magistrate's Court with local jurisdiction in the near future,' the AGC said. Meanwhile, Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar, when contacted, informed that Akmal Salleh will be charged at a Magistrate's Court in Penang in the near future. 'YB Akmal will be charged depending on his whereabouts,' he said. Meanwhile, Akmal Salleh in a post on his Facebook page stated that he is currently performing Umrah in Makkah and will return to the country to face charges on Friday at the Bukit Mertajam Magistrate's Court. Based on a review of the court system, Muhammad Hilman's case will be mentioned tomorrow before Magistrate Amira Abd Aziz, at the Criminal Magistrate's Court here. Chandrasegaran will also be charged tomorrow at the Sessions Court in Shah Alam before Judge Nor Hasniah Ab Razak. – Bernama
