Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), Qatar's leading digital bank, has received two major accolades at The Asian Banker Leadership Achievement Awards 2025. QIB Group CEO Bassel Gamal has received CEO Leadership Achievement for Qatar Award, while QIB has been named Best Managed Bank in Qatar for the period from January 2022 to December 2024.
This recognition reflects the strength of QIB's strategy, its consistent performance, and its commitment to building a modern, inclusive, and resilient financial institution. Under the visionary leadership of QIB Group CEO Bassel Gamal, the bank has redefined the banking experience in Qatar and beyond, establishing itself as a global leader in Islamic finance. Since assuming his role in 2013, Gamal has transformed QIB into a pioneering institution, driving innovation, exceptional financial performance, and unmatched customer satisfaction while upholding Shari'a principles at the core of its operations.
In 2024, QIB's net profit rose by 7 percent year-on-year to reach QR4,605 million. Total assets increased by 6.1 percent, reaching QR200.8 billion by the end of 2024 — a strong testament to the bank's sustained growth trajectory.
QIB's total income grew by 9.4 percent to QR11.7 billion, driven by robust financing and investment activities, while customer deposits rose 3.4 percent to QR125 billion. The bank's cost-to-income ratio of 17 percent remains the lowest among Qatari banks, reflecting strict cost discipline and operational effic iency.
Asset quality remains strong, with a non-performing financing assets ratio of 1.86% and a coverage ratio of 95 percent.
QIB's financial strength continues to be recognized by international rating agencies. In 2024, Fitch Ratings affirmed QIB's rating at 'A' with a stable outlook, Moody's affirmed the bank's long-term depositratings at 'A1' with a stable outlook, and Capital Intelligence Ratings affirmed the bank's long-term rating at 'AA-' with a stable outlook.
Over the last three years, QIB introduced several first-to-market innovations that have simplified banking for customers. Key milestones include real-time digital onboarding for new customers, and instant personal financing through the Mobile App, which is now offering over 300 features.
The bank has introduced new innovations beyond banking including the QIB Marketplace providing a diverse range of products and including a section for local SMEs to display and sell products. QIB has also introduced the first Auto Marketplace in Qatar, also within its mobile app, enabling customers to browse, book a test drive, select and finance vehicles online.
Furthermore, QIB consistently emphasises its commitment to environmental responsibility through tangible actions. In a recent stride towards sustainability, the bank launched an eco-friendly credit card crafted from recycled materials, in addition to publishing a sustainability report every year. Embracing a comprehensive approach, QIB actively fosters a culture of sustainability within its workforce and board of directors through extensive training programmes.

With this Misk edition, QIB continues to promote beneficial financial practices and encourage consistent savings habits among its customers. The 8th edition of QIB's Misk account features the largest prize pool in Qatar with a total of QAR 17.4 Million. This edition is rewarding 858 customers with exciting prizes, offering more opportunities to win than ever before. The number of grand prize winners of QR1 million has increased from 4 to 6, with the millionaire's draw now scheduled every two months. Additionally, the number of monthly winners of the QR50,000 prize has risen from 4 to 6, while 15 customers will continue to win QR10,000 each on a weekly basis. Since the launch of the 8th edition of the Misk account, QIB has celebrated the success of numerous account holders. A total of 570 weekly winners have been awarded prizes worth QR5.7 million, while 48 monthly winners have received prizes worth QR2.4 million. Moreover, four customers have been announced as new millionaires by receiving the grand prize of QR1 million each. These accomplishments have brought the total number of winners announced to 622. The excitement is building as the next millionaires announcement approaches respectively in September and November. QIB General Manager – Personal Banking Group D Anand said, 'We are happy to see the continued success of the Misk Account in promoting a savings mindset while giving back to our valued customers. Rewarding more than 600 customers so far is a testament to the impact of the program, and we are committed to present the largest prize pool in Qatar.' To qualify for the draw of the QR1 million grand prize, customers are required to open a Misk account at least three months before the draw date and maintain a minimum monthly balance of QR10,000. For every additional QR10,000 saved, customers earn an extra chance to win. Existing and new QIB customers can open a Misk account easily through the QIB Mobile App. Customers will receive a free debit card, become eligible to request a free, for the first-year, credit card against their Misk account balance, receive profits on their savings, and have the chance to frequently win cash prizes.

QIB, INJAZ Qatar reach over 27,000 students with Life Skills Program

Tribune News Network Doha Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), Qatar's leading digital bank, in collaboration with INJAZ Qatar, a leading non-profit organization focused on youth economic empowerment, has successfully concluded the 2024/25 cycle of the nationwide Life Skills Program, impacting over 27,000 students across 71 schools. Over the course of the year, more than 180 teachers were trained and deployed to deliver the programmes in classrooms. The sessions were integrated into the academic calendar, allowing students to benefit from structured, interactive content across 12 teaching hours. This three-year programme, developed under the supervision of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education was designed to equip Grade 7 and Grade 9 students with the skills they need to succeed in both their academic and professional lives. The life skills for preparatory students project is comprised of two distinct programs tailored to each grade level. The 'It's My Business' programme for Grade 7 students has introduced design thinking as a problem-solving approach and offered a hands-on entrepreneurial experience, guiding students through identifying market needs, proposing solutions, and exploring how to launch a business idea. Meanwhile, the 'It's My Future' programme for Grade 9 students focused on career readiness, helping them build a personal brand, explore job opportunities, write resumes, and develop the skills and behaviours needed to succeed in the job market. Commenting on the success of the first year's program, Mashaal Abdulaziz Al Derham, assistant general manager, head of corporate communications and quality assurance at QIB, said: 'We are pleased to see the strong results of our collaboration with INJAZ Qatar. This programme represents our long-term commitment to supporting the youth of Qatar through practical, forward-thinking education. 'By focusing on life and financial skills at the preparatory level, we are contributing to the development of confident, capable individuals who are ready to shape their own futures. This initiative aligns with QIB's social responsibility framework and supports the broader goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.' INJAZ Qatar CEO Emad Al Khaja said, 'We are happy to continue our successful collaboration with QIB. Together, we are building an ecosystem of learning that extends beyond the classroom and prepares young students to make informed life and career choices.
