‘Justice must prevail': Kelantan urges probe to ensure nobody unfairly blamed, after cops slammed for raiding HIV outreach
Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Mohamed Fadzli Hassan said in a statement that all parties must remain open-minded, and everyone must be afforded the right to justice with wisdom and fairness.
'To resolve this matter, the Kelantan state government calls for a thorough and comprehensive investigation to ensure that no party becomes a victim of misunderstanding, slander, or public judgement before the truth is fully established.
'If investigations confirm that the police's actions were justified and based on facts, stern measures should be taken against those involved,' he said in a statement here.
'Conversely, if the NGOs' and individuals' claims are proven true, corrective steps must be taken. The principle of justice must prevail,' he added.
However, he insisted that anyone planning potentially controversial events to seek proper approval from authorities.
He added that if participants were from outside Kelantan, this should be clarified to protect locals from undue blame.
'Transparency is essential to prevent baseless assumptions and unwarranted judgement within society,' he said.
Fadzli's remark came as some locals blamed the media and the police for casting Kelantan in a bad light by falsely claiming that a 'gay sex party' had taken place in the state.
On Friday, the MAC confirmed that it conducted a night outreach session here on June 17 under the Differentiated HIV Services for Key Populations model.
MAC said the session was in collaboration with Kota Jembal Health Clinic and part of a strategic approach introduced by the Health Ministry.
It said the session was held from 8pm to 2am and had reached over 70 high-risk individuals, with services scheduled outside office hours to improve accessibility.
This comes as a coalition of civil society groups had also urged Kelantan police to revise their statement on a June 2025 raid of an alleged 'gay sex party' here, which they clarified was in fact a health outreach event.
The groups, led by transgender rights advocacy group Justice for Sisters, said media reports following the raid resulted in harmful and stigmatising remarks that have intensified fear among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) individuals seeking health services.

2 cops nabbed for allegedly taking RM635,000 bribe
The two suspects, in their 40s, were arrested at MACC's Johor headquarters at about 2am today while giving their statements. PETALING JAYA : Two policemen have been remanded for seven days on suspicion of soliciting and accepting a RM635,000 bribe to not take action against an individual over a gambling offence. The suspects were placed under remand until Aug 5 by the Johor Bahru magistrates' court following an application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission. Berita Harian quoted an MACC source as saying the duo, in their 40s, were arrested at the commission's Johor headquarters at about 2am today while giving their statements. 'Both suspects are believed to have conspired to solicit and accept the bribe in return for not taking action against the individual for gambling activities,' the source said. 'The suspects are believed to have received the bribe in cash.' Johor MACC deputy operations director Hairul Ilham Hamzah confirmed the arrests.

JS-SEZ draws RM1.34bil in investment commitments from 5 S'pore companies

(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : Johor has secured RM1.34 billion in investment commitments from five Singapore-based companies under the Johor-Singapore special economic zone (JS-SEZ), says menteri besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi. An additional RM78 million in potential investments is under negotiation as part of the second phase, he said. Onn Hafiz said these investments were facilitated by the Johor branch of the Malaysian Investment Facilitation Centre, which helps coordinate and speed up strategic investment processes in the state. 'To date, 70 companies from countries including Singapore, China, Germany, the UK, and the Netherlands, as well as local investors, have expressed interest in investing in the JS-SEZ,' Bernama quoted him as saying during his official visit to Singapore as the 82nd recipient of the Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellowship. He also met with Singapore's deputy prime minister and minister for trade and industry Gan Kim Yong to strengthen economic ties and discuss the implementation of the JS-SEZ. Onn Hafiz said among the topics discussed were establishing a free trade zone within the JS-SEZ, improving cross-border movement of goods and talent, and developing a second Rapid Transit System link on Johor's western side. He said they also discussed addressing the rising cost of living, infrastructure improvements, and a more efficient transport system. He emphasised Johor's readiness to adopt progressive policies that promote growth and ensure real benefits for the people, and reaffirmed the importance of strong cooperation between Johor, Malaysia and Singapore. 'I believe the strategic cooperation between Johor, Malaysia and Singapore must continue to be strengthened to realise a development agenda that is inclusive, equitable and sustainable, so that no one is left behind,' he said. JS-SEZ was formally established in January through an agreement between Malaysia and Singapore to boost economic connectivity between the state and the republic. It aims to attract 100 projects worth RM100 billion and create about 100,000 jobs in high-value sectors such as manufacturing, digital economy, logistics, clean energy, and tourism over the next decade.
