Kendrick Lamar's Drake Diss Becomes His Longest-Running Global Hit

Despite being one of the most recognizable figures in hip-hop for more than a decade, it wasn't until last year that Kendrick Lamar earned his first No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200. The chart, which Billboard introduced in 2020, ranks the most popular individual tracks around the world, using a methodology that combines sales and streaming activity.
Amid his feud with Drake, Lamar released "Not Like Us"—a track that not only topped the list, but which has since become a career-defining hit and the Grammy winner's longest-running smash around the world.
"Not Like Us" Becomes Kendrick Lamar's Longest-Charting Hit
"Not Like Us" lives on the Billboard Global 200 more than a year after it first reached the summit. This week, the track falls slightly, dipping from No. 37 to No. 44, but it still manages to earn its sixty-first frame somewhere on the tally. With one more stay on the list, the diss tune becomes Lamar's longest-charting hit on the global ranking.
Beating "Money Trees" on the Billboard Global 200
Prior to this week, "Not Like Us" was tied with "Money Trees," Lamar's collaboration with Jay Rock, in terms of longevity. That composition previously led among the rapper's longest-running hits, with an even 60 weeks spent on the Billboard Global 200. Now, "Money Trees" slips to second place as "Not Like Us" takes the lead.
Only Two No. 1 Hits, and a Dozen Top 10s
Lamar has only reached No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 twice, though he has collected a dozen top 10 hits. His first trip to the top came in April 2024 as a featured artist on "Like That," which is fronted by Future and Metro Boomin. Some of Lamar's bars in that track offended Drake and helped ignite their public feud. Just over a month later, "Not Like Us" launched at No. 1, doubling the rapper's career total of chart champions.
U.S. Consumption Keeps "Not Like Us" Going
Strong consumption of "Not Like Us" in America is largely responsible for its continued presence on the Billboard Global 200. The tune currently ranks at No. 85 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., a list that removes all U.S.-based listening data. The discrepancy in position shows who is still listening to 'Not Like Us' in the greatest numbers.
Lamar remains inside the top 10 on half a dozen U.S. charts with "Not Like Us," more than a year after the cut was released.

‘White Lotus' ‘incest scene' actors Patrick Schwarzenegger and Sam Nivola snubbed by Emmys 2025 — and more

Snubs galore. The Television Academy revealed the 2025 Emmy nominations on Tuesday, with the most nods going to 'Severance,' 'The Penguin, 'The White Lotus' and 'The Studio.' Adam Scott, Kristen Bell, Jean Smart, Colin Farrell, Pedro Pascal, Kathy Bates, Noah Wyle and Kathryn Hahn are among the nominated actors. But a number of other performers were snubbed from the nominations list, including 'The White Lotus' stars Patrick Schwarzenegger and Sam Nivola, who made headlines for their turns as the incestuous Ratliff brothers. Schwarzenegger, 31, was predicted to score a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, but both he and Nivola, 21, were shut out of the category. Their co-stars Walton Goggins, Jason Isaacs and Sam Rockwell were all nominated in the Supporting Actor category, alongside three 'Severance' stars and James Marsden for 'Paradise.' Schwarzenegger and Nivola are both nepo babies. Schwarzenegger is the son of Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger, while Nivola's parents are Emily Mortimer and Alessandro Nivola. Schwarzenegger and Nivola's on-screen sister Sarah Catherine Hook, who played Piper Ratliff, was snubbed as well. 'White Lotus' ladies Leslie Bibb and Michelle Monaghan also missed out on nominations, but their on-screen bestie Carrie Coon scored a nod in the Supporting Actress category, as did co-stars Parker Posey, Aimee Lou Wood and Natasha Rothwell. Despite the multiple snubs, the third season of the HBO hit still racked up 23 nominations. In the Lead Actor in a Drama category, Jon Hamm and Diego Luna both missed out on nominations for their respective roles in Apple TV+'s 'Your Friends & Neighbors' and Disney+'s 'Andor.' In fact, 'Andor' got only one acting nomination, and it was for guest star Forest Whitaker. But the 'Star Wars' series did get in for Outstanding Drama Series. Much-hyped shows 'Your Friends & Neighbors,' 'Squid Game,' '1923,' 'House of the Dragon' and 'The Handmaid's Tale' all missed out in Outstanding Drama Series. Other drama snubs include Elisabeth Moss for 'The Handmaid's Tale,' Lee Jung-jae for 'Squid Game,' Jack Lowden for 'Slow Horses,' Dichen Lachman for 'Severance,' Helen Mirren for '1923,' Jacob Anderson for 'Interview With the Vampire' and Allison Janney for 'The Diplomat.' On the comedy side, 'Only Murders in the Building' stars Steve Martin, Selena Gomez and Meryl Streep were ignored by Emmy voters this go-round, despite all landing noms last year for Season 3. However, their co-star Martin Short got his fourth acting nomination in as many years for the Hulu project. 'Hacks' scene-stealers Paul W. Downs and Meg Stalter, 'Abbott Elementary' favorite Tyler James Williams and 'Poker Face' lead Natasha Lyonne were also left off the nominations list. In the Limited Series categories, 'Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story' star Nicholas Alexander Chavez failed to join his on-screen brother Cooper Koch and on-screen parents Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny as a nominee. Renée Zellweger got shut out in Lead Actress for 'Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy,' though the Peacock film did get recognized in the Outstanding Television Movie category. The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards will air Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. Eastern on CBS and stream on Paramount+.

What Did They Do to ‘The Cat in the Hat'?

The Cat in the Hat is back, but not everyone is purring with delight. Warner Bros. just dropped the first trailer for its new animated adaptation of Dr. Seuss' beloved children's book, featuring Bill Hader as the voice of the iconic mischief maker in the red-striped hat. In this rendition, the cat is tasked by the Institute for the Institution of Imagination and Inspiration (I.I.I.I., LLC) with cheering up two siblings, Gabby (Xochitl Gomez) and Sebastian (Tiago Martinez), who are struggling to adjust to life in a new town. There's just one problem: the Cat's antics have already led to a string of failed missions, and if he messes this one up, he might get the boot. 'I heard the Cat lost three giraffes in his last mission,' whispers an I.I.I.I. agent in the trailer, unaware the feline is eavesdropping. 'Actually, it was five,' the Cat replies, beaming with pride. But the real drama isn't in the trailer, it's online. While animation studio DNEG, known for the work on Nimona (2023), brought their signature 3D-meets-2D style to this project, the visual direction isn't landing for everyone. Some viewers even think the animation looks artificial, comparing it to AI-generated content. 'ChatGPT, make a CGI Cat in the Hat movie,' one person joked on X. Others were more blunt about their dislike of the animation style. 'My eyes. They bleed,' a user wrote after posting a screenshot from the trailer. Beyond the visuals, the trailer's cheerful tone has stirred debate. For many fans of the 2003 live-action film starring Mike Meyers, The Cat in the Hat isn't supposed to be sweet; it's meant to give kids nightmares, duh. 'If you're not forcing Mike Myers into it via lawsuit and then making a bizarre all-time terrible film, then what's even the point?' a Redditor joked. Another person on X agreed with this sentiment, writing: 'I don't want an animated cat in the hat, I WANT THAT REAL LIFE 6ft B***H.' While it seems like there are a lot of opinions being thrown around, it's important to remember that regardless of animation style or its level of nightmare fuel, it's important to support cat representation in cinema—unless, of course, it's 2019's musical monstrosity, Cats, and then all bets are off.
