Kelsey Parker says The Wanted's Tom's mum is supporting her after baby son's death with new partner

Kelsey Parker says The Wanted's Tom's mum is supporting her after baby son's death with new partner

Cosmopolitan5 days ago
Kelsey Parker, the widow of singer Tom Parker from The Wanted, who sadly died in 2022 of a brain tumour, has given her first interview about losing her baby boy, Phoenix, at 39 weeks.
Little Phoenix was Kelsey's first child with her subsequent partner Will Lindsay and although the pregnancy was a surprise, she said on her Instagram account that it was one of the best unexpected gifts she could have received following the loss of Tom aged 33.
Heartbreakingly, baby Phoenix was "born sleeping, forever loved" in June.
Now, Kelsey has bravely spoken out about the loss of her son in an interview. Speaking to The Mirror, she said, "I didn't think I'd be living a relived experience, first losing Tom and now losing Phoenix, but I think with any grief and loss, you have to take each day as it come and work through it."
Sadly, it's believed that around one in 250 pregnancies that are beyond the 24-week mark result in a loss, as per NHS data.
The podcast host also shared how her two other children, Aurelia, 6, and Bodhi, 4, have been processing the sudden loss of their new sibling.
"We wanted the happy ever after and to have Phoenix but that didn't pan out for us," she shared. "I spoke about it like I did with Tom, I just told them the truth.
"I think that's all you can do with your children, in anything you're going through, be honest. Because I think people underestimate their children and what children can cope with. Children have little ears and they listen to a lot of conversations."
Kelsey also revealed that Tom's parents have been a huge support to her during this extremely difficult time, and that she speaks with his mother, Noreen, on a regular basis.
"We [have spoken] to each other every day since losing Phoenix and she was just as devastated as as every family member because she wanted that happiness for me and the kids."
As for how she's coping on a day to day basis, showing up for her family is somewhat of a tonic, says Kelsey. "You have to be brave and show up and that's what I try and do. Show up for my children so they can look at me and go, you know what, my mummy's very strong. She will get us through anything."
In sharing her story, Kelsey will no doubt be helping countless other parents going through a loss to feel less alone.

Andrew Lloyd Webber wants Nicole Scherzinger for Sunset Boulevard movie

Andrew Lloyd Webber wants Nicole Scherzinger to star in a movie adaptation of Sunset Boulevard. Nicole, 47, recently ended her run as Norma Desmond in the much-hyped revival of Lloyd Webber's classic musical on Broadway and the pair are hoping to team up again to bring the project to the big screen. A source told The Mirror: 'Andrew wants to make the movie with Nicole. He feels the momentum after the Broadway run needs to be harnessed. 'There is a sense that this is closer than ever now which, for Andrew, will be a delight, given the years he's worked for it. 'Andrew feels Nicole and the cast have the appeal to bring musicals back to the Oscars. People forget the film versions of Les Miserables and Chicago both blew up in cinemas and scored rafts of awards.' Nicole previously won the Best Actress in a Musical prize at the UK's Laurence Olivier Awards, while Sunset Boulevard also scooped prizes for supporting actors, Best Director for Lloyd as well as Best Lighting, Sound, Outstanding Musical Contribution and Best Musical Revival. It was also a huge hit at the Tony Awards with Nicole winning the Best Actress in a Musical gong. Meanwhile, Nicole previously admitted she would love to reprise the role for a movie adaptation. She told The Hollywood Reporter: 'There has been some talk. That is my dream, so I'm manifesting that right now.'

Caitlin Clark's Teammates Grab Attention in Matching Pregame Cowgirl Outfits

Caitlin Clark is still the most popular Indiana Fever player on the court, but off of it, she has some competition. Clark's teammates Sophie Cunningham and Lexie Hull have seen their social media popularities skyrocket this season. The blonde pair, who are close friends away from basketball, often go viral for their pregame outfits or off-court shenanigans. On Thursday night, Hull and Cunningham arrived for Indiana's game against the Phoenix Mercury wearing identical cowgirl outfits. They wore the same denim shorts and "Howdy Cowboy" tops; the only difference is Hull wore red boots and Cunningham chose black. The Fever showed off Hull and Cunningham's pregame looks in an Instagram post. "Seeing double 👯‍♀️Lexie Hull & Sophie Cunningham popped out in matching fits for tonight's game in Phoenix 🤠," said the caption for the post. The pictures of the two Fever guards unsurprisingly drew a slew of comments. "patiently waiting for a CC comment here," the official StubHub account commented, referring to Clark playfully chiding Hull and Cunningham for tanning this week. "Caitlin's comment is loading…" added Breaking Ground TV. "Soph seems like so much fun," another person said. "Holy iconic," chimed in a fourth. "Really look like like twins lol beautiful," a fifth person wrote. "Sisters by choice," said another. Thursday's game didn't go well for the Fever While Hull and Cunningham had fun before the game, no one on the Fever could have enjoyed the actual four quarters of play against Phoenix. Indiana trailed by 11 at halftime before a 26-11 third quarter did them in. The Mercury, who are now 19-11 on the season, outscored the Fever 48-24 in the second half to win 95-60. To her credit, Cunningham turned in the best individual performance of the night, scoring a team-high 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting, including 5-of-8 from 3-point range. Hull, meanwhile, was ice cold, finishing with two points on 1-of-11 from the field. The Fever (17-14) will look to bounce back against the Chicago Sky at 8 p.m. ET Saturday night on CBS. Sophie Cunningham and Lexie Hull Turn Heads in Viral 'Howdy Cowboy' Looks Amid Fever Blowout Loss

The WNBA has seen its fair share of bizarre fan behavior and viral moments this season, but no one is flipping the script better than Sophie Cunningham. After being infamously struck by a sexually explicit toy thrown from the stands during a road loss to the Los Angeles Sparks earlier this week, the Indiana Fever forward didn't sulk. Instead, she is staging a cheeky and calculated PR pivot, leaning into humor, charisma, and a bit of provocative flair to reclaim the narrative. And now, she has brought backup. Cunningham and Hull Go Full Rodeo Glam in Viral Pregame Fit Ahead of Thursday night's game in Phoenix, Sophie Cunningham and her Fever teammate Lexie Hull stepped out of their team hotel looking like they were headed to a WNBA honky-tonk rather than a basketball court. Dressed in matching yellow 'Howdy Cowboy' crop tops and light denim bottoms, Cunningham in classic Daisy Dukes and Hull in a miniskirt, the duo strutted into PHX Arena in a confident display of unity, sass, and maybe a little protest chic. Cunningham opted for black cowboy boots, while Hull rocked red. The duo's twin looks were so striking that even the Indiana Fever's official Instagram, in a shared post with the WNBA, couldn't resist the caption: 'seeing double … Lexie Hull & Sophie Cunningham popped out in matching fits for tonight's game in Phoenix ' It was a clever aesthetic statement that instantly set social media ablaze. WNBA Toy-Throwing Controversy Reaches Boiling Point The Fever's rising star, Cunningham, has been at the center of one of the season's most bizarre controversies: fan-thrown R-rated toys. During Indiana's Tuesday night loss to the Los Angeles Sparks, one such item landed on the court near Cunningham, even after tweeted about the disgusting WNBA game trend right now: 'Stop throwing d****s on the court.' Rather than allow the vulgarity to define her, Cunningham fired back with a stream of self-deprecating social media posts and, on her off-day, an exuberant solo TikTok dance filmed in her Phoenix home. Yes, she still lives there despite being traded to Indiana last offseason. She also moonlights as a Suns analyst in the offseason. Multi-talented queen. But Thursday's twin-themed fashion moment officially turned damage control into full-on pop culture performance art. Unfortunately, the Fashion Was the Highlight Despite the viral hype and fanfare, the Fever's performance on the court didn't match the heat of their outfits. The Phoenix Mercury handed Indiana a brutal 90–65 beatdown in what many dubbed the 'DeWanna Bonner Revenge Game.' Caitlin Clark, still sidelined with her second groin injury of the 2025 season, did not play and has yet to comment on the night's events, on or off the court. With the Fever's five-game win streak now snapped and their star player still in street clothes, morale looked shaky heading into the end of their four-game road trip. WNBA Fans Are Eating It Up… and Tearing It Down As expected, reactions to the matching 'Howdy Cowboy' look were loud, lusty, and divided. 'Unapologetically a Fever fan,' one person commented. 'Didn't know it snowed in Phoenix,' joked another, presumably referencing the icy-hot combo of the duo's style and demeanor. 'Yo maybe the WNBA isn't so bad ' someone else wrote, perhaps capturing the attention of a new type of viewer. Others, however, criticized the moment, saying: 'Their own team and fans sexualize them to the max and they are so happy, you can't be more hollow.' Another person added, 'Got they ass beat, Mercury don't care nothing bout that…' Still, one commenter pointed out a hilarious twist in team dynamics: 'Sophie looks more like Lexie's sister in this picture than Laci does and Laci is her identical twin lmao' Best Friends or Competition? Both Though Cunningham and Hull have technically been battling for minutes, with Hull being benched when Cunningham was inserted into the starting lineup in Clark's absence, the duo appear closer than ever. Thursday's twinning moment solidified a strong bond that goes beyond rotations and stats. On the court, both have been crucial to Indiana's 17-13 record prior to Thursday's blowout. Cunningham is averaging 8.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game. Hull is putting up 6.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. Friendship, not friction, seems to be their answer to adversity.
