Eagles Fans All Wondering Why Saquon Barkley Fantasy is 'Doomed' originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Is Saquon Barkley poised for a drop-off in his second season with the Philadelphia Eagles?
History, and one particular analyst, believes that to be the case.

Barkley is coming off one of the greatest seasons for a running back ever. He set a new league record for rushing yards in a single season, including the postseason, and won the award for the offensive player of the year. He was a key catalyst to the Eagles winning Super Bowl LIX.
After that historic season, though, one analyst believes Barkley is set up for failure in 2025, especially in fantasy.
Bleacher Report's Gary Davenport thinks Barkley is "doomed" for fantasy football next season. He is the top running back and expected player in most drafts, and that is cause for major concern.
"Saquon Barkley had a fantastic 2024 season," Davenport said. "However, he's doomed in 2025 for numerous reasons.

"Barkley had 378 touches a season ago, putting him squarely in the crosshairs of the 'Curse of 370.' Since 2007, there have been 25 instances where a running back surpassed 370 touches in a season. Of that group, only two gained more total yardage the following year."
Davenport is not the only person who has seen the warning signs that Barkley could be in trouble. Each runner that has recorded over 2,000 yards in a season saw a significant decrease in efficiency the following year. The same goes for running backs who were also named offensive player of the year or are the top overall players in fantasy.
There seems to be a "curse" that follows running backs who have historic seasons like Barkley enjoyed last year.
While Philadelphia does have several factors that should help the All-Pro's case (an elite offensive line and other stars in the passing game), it's fair to wonder if Barkley can ever reach his elite mark again.

Fans are left wondering about the validity of all of this, but …
It's hard to overlook Davenport's clear message about Barkley's potentially "doomed" future.

Paige Bueckers' Replacement Turned Heads on Saturday

Paige Bueckers' Replacement Turned Heads on Saturday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Paige Bueckers missed her fifth game of the season for the Dallas Wings on Saturday after being ruled out against the Washington Mystics with a knee injury. Advertisement Stepping in to replace Bueckers in the starting five was fellow rookie JJ Quinerly, who got her first career start after averaging just 7.2 minutes off the bench in 14 appearances this season. Quinerly made sure to take full advantage of her big opportunity on Saturday by going off for a career-high 15 points on 4-of-6 shooting and 6-of-6 from the charity stripe, to go along with four rebounds, four assists and one triple in 33 minutes of action. Quinerly's eye-opening outing drew the attention of the WNBA, which named the former West Virginia star as the game's Top Performer. View the original article to see embedded media. The WNBA's announcement on Quinerly turned heads on Instagram as the fans shared their reaction to the rookie's big game. Advertisement "🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾" a comment on Instagram read. "JJ Quinerly showed up and showed out — what a debut start! 🌟🏀" an X user commented. "She's been this good. 6th Player of the Year in the future," declared another. "she cooked tn🙌" another said. "lil dynamite! 🔥" a reaction read. Quinerly, Dallas' third-round pick from the 2025 WNBA Draft, made waves with her performance on Saturday night. Her move to the starting five won't be a permanent one, especially with Bueckers looking to return for the Wings' matchup against the Phoenix Mercury on Thursday. Advertisement Nevertheless, Quinerly was certainly able to turn a few heads with her strong outing against the Mystics, which could just lead to a more prominent role in the rotation moving forward. Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua: An 'insane fight,' yes, but also a real possibility?

ANAHEIM, Calif. – After going the distance to defeat Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Jake Paul made some major callouts. Canelo Alvarez, Gervonta Davis, Tommy Fury, champion Badu Jack, Anthony Joshua and champion Gilberto Ramirez all were names uttered by Paul. But of those possible opponents, there's one big fish that Paul and his manager, Nakisa Bidarian, are looking to catch – and that's Joshua. Advertisement "I think that's the main one that we talk a lot about is, if it's not for the title, it's looking at Tommy if he's reasonable and then Anthony Joshua," Bidarian told reporters, including MMA Junkie, on Saturday after Paul's unanimous decision win at Honda Center. "And he's adamant that he wants to make that fight happen at the end of 2026." Paul vs. Joshua. Or, put another way, Paul vs. one of the top heavyweights of this generation: Can you believe that? While it'd be a stretch to say the fight is "in the works" in the traditional sense of that term, there are definitely wheels in motion. Paul hopes to make that fight come to fruition so he can finally silence his haters, of which they were out in full force to watch his win over Chavez Jr. "That's the criticism: 'Fight someone in their prime who's a beast.' I think people just want to see me lose," Paul said. "That's really what the message is behind it all. Anthony Joshua is an insane fight, but I want that challenge. We've been DM'ing back and forth, he wants to make it happen, he called me up, and it's looking very likely for next year." Vasquez-Imagn Images Bidarian said he and Paul plan to meet with Matchroom Boxing's Eddie Hearn, who promotes Joshua, about a possible fight toward the end of next year. Advertisement Paul's only fight to take place at heavyweight was against 58-year-old Mike Tyson last November. Suffice to say, fighting Joshua, 35, would be a challenge like Paul's never faced before, which is all the more reason why he wants it so badly. "I'm definitely not a heavyweight, but I'm still gonna take the challenge," Paul said. "But you look at Deontay Wilder, he was beating these guys weighing 215 pounds. Anything is possible. Granted, he's like 6-6 or something, but anything is possible. And so I like the challenge." Phillies' Rob Thomson Breaks Silence on Max Kepler's Playing Time Comments

Phillies' Rob Thomson Breaks Silence on Max Kepler's Playing Time Comments originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Philadelphia Phillies were on fire Friday night, as they rebounded from a string of four losses in five games to defeat the Atlanta Braves 13-0. Advertisement But before their offensive explosion, the Phillies had to douse some internal flames after comments made by outfielder Max Kepler regarding his joining the team in free agency this past offseason. According to The Athletic's Matt Gelb, Kepler was told by the Phillies' front office that he would be the club's everyday left fielder, but he has started just three times against left-handed starters this season. Kepler claims he was misled by the Phillies and doubled down on his previous comments pre-game on Friday. "I mean, I signed here being told that I was going to be the starting left fielder," Kepler said, via Paul Casella. "The everyday starting left fielder. So, there's my answer. That's why I came here." Phillies manager Rob Thompson has since broken his silence on the situation, offering his stance on whether he considers Kepler to be a starter and empathizing with the former Minnesota Twins slugger's perspective. Philadelphia Phillies manager Rob Thomson (59) celebrates a run scored in the first inning against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Chenoy-Imagn Images "I trust Max. I really do. And he's started, what, 60 games for us? So, I kind of consider that a starter myself," Thomson said, also via Casella. "But I see where the frustration is, because these guys want to play – and that's a good thing." Advertisement Thomson expanded further on his own comments in an appearance on 94 WIP Phillies Radio. "I like the fact that he wants to play. When guys don't play, they do get frustrated," Thomson said, via NBC 10 Philadelphia's John Clark. "Maybe they say some things that should maybe be left inside. I know these guys are proud and want to play. They want to get out there and compete. That's fine.' Keple – who signed a one-year, $10 million contract ahead of the 2025 season – is hitting .213 with nine home runs, 28 RBIs, a .687 OPS and 0.1 WAR (according to Baseball Reference) in 73 appearances.
