Actor Rajesh Kumar, known for Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, faced Rs 2 crore debt and near bankruptcy from farming.
Actor Rajesh Kumar, best known for his memorable role as Rosesh in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, recently opened up about one of the most difficult phases of his life. He talked about his staggering Rs 2 crore debt and how a foray into farming left him nearly bankrupt.
While Kumar is currently riding high on the massive success of Saiyaara, in which he plays Aneet Padda's father, his journey hasn't always been easy. The film has emerged as one of 2025's biggest box office hits, raking in Rs 284.75 crore in just over two weeks. But just a few years ago, the actor was in a very different place financially.
Speaking candidly on the podcast Meri Saheli, the 50-year-old shared, 'The incoming and outgoing flow had gone for a toss. There was no incoming, and I had exhausted all my reserves because of the outgoing. I went under debt of Rs 2 crore. Bankruptcy is a big word, but definitely, I had that feeling with me for a long time. I was not able to generate money for survival."
The financial strain began when he attempted to pursue farming, a venture that quickly proved unsustainable. Despite putting in his own savings, the lack of income forced him to rely on his family for support.
In another emotional revelation during an interview with Dainik Bhaskar, Kumar recalled the heartbreak of returning from a UK shoot unable to bring anything back for his children. 'I had Rs 2,500 in my bank account when I was in the UK. I travelled back and forth twice during that 24-day shoot, but I couldn't bring back even two chocolates for my kids," he said.
Rajesh Kumar's career spans over two decades across television, film, and OTT platforms.

This kid in China couldn't get a Labubu doll, so he caused damage worth $56,000 (Rs 40 lakhs) instead

While some call it scary and evil, others are simply fawning over it. The craze for Labubu dolls is getting out of hand, it seems. This kid from China, who was denied the elf-like creature, born a monster, from the Chinese toy maker Pop Mart, at a relative's home, chose violence and caused damage worth over $56,000 (over Rs 40 lakhs). Here's what happened. The family had visited their relative's place, where the toddler noticed a Labubu doll adorned with jewelry. The toy belonged to an influencer popularly known as Little Azheng or Tail Brother. The kid threw a tantrum when he was denied the doll, and threw a remote control in anger. He ended up shattering a mirrored glass ceiling worth US$14,000 and an Italian crystal chandelier worth US$41,000. What's worse is that the boy refused to apologise for the damage caused. The boy's parents offered only $2,500 (Rs 2 lakh) as compensation, which is far less than the actual damage. They said that they were poor and could only afford this much. They asked the influencer not to post about the incident on social media to protect the boy's image. Furthermore, they requested him not to involve the court and take a legal route Tail Brother agreed to accept the partial compensation because he had no other option. However, he criticised the family's use of kinship pressure and low offer. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD And now, the team, that reportedly celebrated the film's success in Singapore, celebrated it all over again in Mumbai. The 'Saiyaara' actor gave a kiss on his actress' forehead as they celebrated the success of their film. Also in attendance was the captain of the ship Mohit Suri. Netizens were quickly reminded of Aashiqui 2 stars Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor who created the same moment years ago. The writer revealed that the seed of \_Saiyaara\_ came during a casual meeting with Mohit Suri and recalled, 'It was raining when we came back from a meeting. As I was about to leave, Mohit asked me to stay back and listen to something. He shared an idea and asked me if it was worth building into a film." 'That discussion gave birth to the core of Saiyaara. At that time, there was no story, no screenplay—just a feeling. The seed of the film came from a single emotional thought, a line that appears in the film: 'A hit song isn't the one that stays in your head; it's the one that stays in your heart.' That was the emotion we built everything else around," he added.
