Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Swami Shakti Sharananand Saraswati Maharaj in Bihar's Motihari during his visit to the poll-bound state on Friday.
In a post on X, PM Modi said that he received blessings and expressed gratitude for the Swamiji's warmth, affection, and guidance. He also shared the images of his meeting with the spiritual guru.
'Today, I had the privilege of receiving blessings from Swami Shakti Sharananand Saraswati Ji Maharaj in Motihari. His personality embodies brilliance and vigor, while his speech is deeply imbued with spirituality. I am overwhelmed by Maharaj Ji's warmth, affection, and guidance!" he said in a post on X.

Earlier today, the Prime Minister launched development projects worth more than Rs 7,200 crore in the poll-bound state.
Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, several union ministers and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
He flagged off four new Amrit Bharat trains between Rajendra Nagar (Patna) and New Delhi, Bapudham Motihari and Delhi (Anand Vihar terminal), Darbhanga and Lucknow (Gomti Nagar) and Malda Town and Lucknow (Gomti Nagar) via Bhagalpur.
PM Modi also laid the foundation stones for multiple rail projects, including the development of infrastructure for maintenance of Vande Bharat trains at Patliputra, and automatic signalling on the Bhatni-Chhapra Gramin route (114 km) to enable streamlined train services.
In a major boost to road infrastructure in the region, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the 4-laning of the Ara bypass of NH-319 that connects Ara-Mohania NH-319 and Patna-Buxar NH-922, providing seamless connectivity and reducing travel time.
PM Modi also inaugurated the 4-lane Parariya to Mohania section of NH-319, worth over Rs 820 crore, part of NH-319, which connects Ara Town to NH-2 (Golden Quadrilateral) that would improve freight and passenger movement.
Among others, a 2-lane with paved shoulders from Sarwan to Chakai of NH-333C was also launched to facilitate the movement of goods and people and act as a key link between Bihar and Jharkhand.
PM Modi also released Rs 400 crore to around 61,500 self-help groups in Bihar under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM).
The PM also handed over keys to some beneficiaries as a part of Griha Pravesh of 12,000 homeowners and released over Rs 160 crore to 40,000 beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin.

Operation Sindoor: Narendra Modi's Image Versus National Interest
Prime minister Narendra Modi should know that seeking the cooperation of opposition parties to project India's case abroad after Operation Sindoor must necessarily be accompanied by showing some respect for the opposition in domestic politics. You cannot seek opposition cooperation to present a unified foreign policy position abroad and continue to treat opposition parties as "enemies" in domestic politics. After all, it was the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat who had advised the Bharatiya Janata Party not to treat the opposition as enemies and also constructive engagement after the BJP's disappointing performance at the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. In this regard has Modi learnt any lessons from the 2024 Lok Sabha results? The basic attitude and approach doesn't seem to have changed. Modi still believes that he can cynically manipulate the opposition through coercive politics without showing any sincerity of purpose. It is common knowledge now that Operation Sindoor, though a limited success, was badly bungled at several levels and mistakes were made which could have been avoided. This is something the government is yet to admit buy responsible Indian military officers have dropped adequate hints in public fora. When an honest military officer cited " restraint from political leadership" as a reason for some Indian fighter planes going down, he was serving the interest of truth. The Modi government's initial silence on the other hand was meant to protect the prime minister's image. Modi was clearly on the backfoot after operation Sindoor and was unable to fully convince his own constituency (including the RSS) that it was an unqualified success. He therefore swallowed his ego for the first time and approached the opposition parties to take part in a joint delegation to present India's case abroad as no country had explicitly condemned Pakistan's role in the Pahalgam terror attack. The Congress party led by Rahul Gandhi has been been raising tough questions around Operation Sindoor and sought a special session of parliament to discuss everything threadbare. Other opposition parties wanted the same. But then the cynical, coercive and manipulative template of politics is embedded in the regime's DNA. The opening of the parliament session was marked by the unprecedented resignation of vice-president Jagdeep Dhankhar. This was the distraction the BJP needed to create chaos and disrupt what might have been a relatively more orderly parliament session with the citizens eager to learn more about the critical issues of national interest such as Operation Sindoor and the stupendous claims by US president Donald Trump on India-Pakistan ceasefire linked to trade talks. The reality is that the president of the world's biggest military power has repeated 25 times that he stopped the India-Pakistan military exchange which was about to spillover to the nuclear domain with the threat of trade. Whether Modi likes it or not, this issue will have to be discussed in parliament. The people of this country cannot be kept in the dark simply because Modi's personal image is to be kept intact. This, in fact, is the nub of the issue. Operation Sindoor and the multiple issues it has thrown up demands an open discussion in parliament to further national interests. But the regime's ecosystem is bent upon creating distractions and confusion to protect Modi's image. So national interest and the ruling ecosystem's attempt to save Modi's image are totally at odds with each other today. This was apparent even during Operation Sindoor. The BJP's media ecosystem projected Modi as a warrior who will not spare Pakistan but the moment the ceasefire happened, Modi's picture was withdrawn and replaced with that of government spokesperson Vikram Misri who announced the ceasefire. This was undisguised manipulation. Similarly, people noticed how Modi used the opposition's cooperation to burnish his own image with his domestic constituency. Even before the opposition delegation had returned, external affairs minister S. Jaishankar was boasting at a public forum that Modi had achieved with the opposition parties what even Indira Gandhi couldn't have done in the 1970s. Thus everything is a personal image building exercise for Modi first, and then something else. One only hopes that Shashi Tharoor and Manish Tiwari have internalised this aspect of Modi's narcissism when they lend unqualified support to Operation Sindoor in "national interest." Don't they see how "national interest" seamlessly converts to Modi's interest in domestic politics? Don't they see how the hyphenation of India with Pakistan, which they speak against in global fora, is paradoxically a key component of Modi's image building politics in the cow belt? They might see more of it in the current parliament session as the ruling party cynically manages everything as it has done in the past. Indeed how Modi treats the opposition parties in domestic politics, as aptly articulated by Mohan Bhagwat himself, is fundamentally the bane of Indian politics and the primary cause of democratic backsliding today. If this is not fixed nothing is fixed.

Party workers' role key in delivering schemes: Gottipati
Addanki: Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar announced that the coalition government, under Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, aims to ensure that welfare schemes reach all eligible beneficiaries and effectively communicate its initiatives to all citizens across the state. The minister, along with the Bapatla MP Tenneti Krishna Prasad unveiled a statue of NT Rama Rao and NTR Kalakshetram, and participated in 'Suparipalanalo Tholi Adugu-Intintiki Telugu Desam' programme, at Chandaluru village in J Panguluru mandal, on Sunday. During the village-level campaign, Minister Gottipati visited households to assess the implementation of coalition government welfare programmes and gathered feedback from beneficiaries. Additionally, he distributed three-wheeler scooters to ten differently-abled individuals. Speaking on the occasion, Gottipati praised NTR as the pioneer of welfare schemes for the poor, noting that programmes like two-rupee rice and women's property rights are still implemented by numerous states nationwide. The minister announced infrastructure funding, including Rs 30 lakh for road construction in Chandaluru village, Rs 2 crore for the Chandaluru-Gangavaram BT road, and Rs 35 lakh for constructing a dining hall at the district council high school. Gottipati explained that the primary objective of the 'Suparipalanalo Tholi Adugu- Intintiki Telugu Desam' initiative is to monitor how welfare schemes reach eligible beneficiaries during the coalition government's 15-month tenure. He emphasised that programmes such as pensions, Talliki Vandanam, and the Deepam gas scheme distribution should be verified by relevant department officials and secretariat staff. He emphasised the crucial role of party workers in implementing government schemes.

Bhatti takes stock of flood prep in Khammam, Kothagudem districts
Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu reviewed the flood conditions during the current monsoon season with district officials from Khammam and Kothagudem. The meeting, held on Sunday, focused on the need for alertness, the provision of relief measures for affected individuals, welfare schemes, and the establishment of additional emergency facilities. Attendees included Khammam District In-charge Minister Vakati Srihari, Ministers Tummala Nageswara Rao and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, as well as district Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly, and other public representatives. The Deputy Chief Minister assured that solar pump sets, sprinklers, drip irrigation systems, and horticultural crops would be provided free of charge to farmers under the ROFR Act through the Indira Giri Jal Vikasam scheme, with a total expenditure of Rs 12,600 crore planned over three years. However, it was noted that some MLAs are delaying the submission of proposals for Roads and Buildings (R&B) and Panchayat Raj roads. The government has prepared a budget of Rs 20,000 crore for constructing all roads. The Deputy Chief Minister clarified that there is no shortage of urea, assuring farmers that they need not worry. He emphasized that the Indiramma housing scheme will be remembered as a significant achievement. Additionally, he urged authorities to develop plans for raising fish fry through women's groups in every district. He stated, 'We warmly welcome Vakiti Srihari as the district in-charge minister. His experience, having started his career as a public representative in local bodies, will be invaluable for the development of the joint Khammam district.' The meeting acknowledged that, so far, the Godavari floods are at a normal level, and no danger warnings have been issued. However, flood relief measures should be initiated by all authorities, and life jackets must be readily available. A control room should remain operational until the end of the rainy season. As part of Vana Mahotsav, useful plants should be distributed to the community, benefiting everyone. Officials were directed to provide information regarding the number of plants planted over the last ten years, the costs associated with planting them, and the survival rate of those plants. In a major panchayat, detail the number of plants planted in the past ten years, the costs incurred, the survival rate, and the steps that should be taken to ensure their survival. A complete study should be conducted as part of a pilot project, with all relevant details provided. On the education front, he highlighted the need for integrated schools to be established on 25 acres, with all integrated schools serving as role models. Welfare and Gurukul students should receive meals according to a set menu, with no compromises on quality. Additionally, continuous medical check-ups should be conducted for students throughout the rainy season.
