Actor Ronit Roy recently opened up about the hardships he faced during his struggling days in Mumbai. Before trying to make it big in the entertainment industry, Roy encountered several personal and professional challenges during the early 1990s. While, today he is considered one of the most renowned faces in the film and television industry, there was a time when he couldn't even afford basic necessities.
During a conversation with Hindi Rush podcast, Ronit revealed how he used to feel isolated in the industry. Expressing his disconnection from others, the actor shared, 'I honestly don't know why my career didn't take off in the early days. I used to think about it a lot before, but now I don't. I stay in my own zone, and I think a lot of it also happened because I stopped going to people for work, and hence, they stopped giving me opportunities.'
Ronit recalled an emotional moment from his early days that still stays with him even today. He talked about eating at a small dhaba outside Bandra station in Mumbai. Due to financial instability, he could not even afford a single meal in a day, often surviving either on kaali daal or palak paneer with two rotis. Ronit said, 'One day, I just asked them for some roti and onions because I was out of money. He gave me 2 rotis and some daal. I told him that I hadn't asked for the daal, and he said, 'Koi baat nahi meri taraf se, aaj aapka daal ka din hai.'
Even after entering the industry, the financial distress in Ronit's life continued. Back then, he revealed his acting fee was Rs 50000 paid in installments of Rs 4000 per month. 'Back then, that was a huge amount for me. But even after the debut, all the films I did helped me barely manage my expenses. The money never came; it was all still hand to mouth,' he said.
In 1992, Ronit made a promising debut with Jaan Tere Naam , and garnered significant fan following. Later, he transitioned into television, and a became household name with shows like Kasautii Zindagii Kay and Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. With a reported net worth of Rs 99 crore, Roy has successfully built a life for himself, balancing both on-screen and off-screen avatars.

Superman Had A Solid First Weekend Of USD 220 Million Global Superman had a solid global weekend of USD 220 million, with the domestic box office propelling the biz and the overseas box office seeing a subdued response. Just a few international markets like Brazil and India really rose up to the occasion, while the others put the DC Comics brand to shame. Maalik Day 4 India Box Office: Rajkummar Rao and Manushi Chhillar's gangster drama steadies at low levels on first Monday; Nets Rs 2 crore

Maalik, directed by Pulkit, and starring Rajkummar Rao and Manushi Chhillar among others, collected a below par Rs 14.10 crore net in its opening weekend. The film opened to Rs 3.60 crore, grew by around 50 percent on Saturday, and then saw identical collections as Saturday on Sunday when it should have grown by atleast 15-20 percent. The first Monday collections are not bad going by how it has held. Maalik has collected Rs 2 crore on Monday, taking the cume to Rs 16.10 crore after 4 days. The Day Wise Net India Collections Of Maalik Are As Under Maalik's Trend Suggests Slight Acceptance, But The Film Is A Long Way Away From Breaking Even Maalik's hold suggests that there's slight acceptance of the content. The collections should see a bump on 'Discount Tuesday'. The Rajkummar Rao movie should be poised at around Rs 21.50 crore by the end of the first week. Based on how well or poorly Saiyaara performs, it will be known whether Maalik will end up doing around Rs 25-27 crore net, or leg out to do Rs 35 crore or more. The final result shall more or less be the same regardless of whether it legs out or not, since it needs to net around Rs 42-44 crore in India, just for the producers to breakeven, assuming that the international share will be a maximum of Rs 2-3 crore. With Better Financial Planning, Producers Could Have Avoided Losing Money On The Film With better financial planning by the film's producers, they would have been in a position to atleast not lose money on the film, if not make any. There are a bunch of desperately produced films by producers, where they are more or less certain to lose money. It's mostly done to be in the mix of things, and be seen as an active production house. Maalik In Theatres
