The NFL Network will cover 21 live preseason games in August, including the Pittsburgh Steelers' preseason finale game against the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium on Thursday, Aug. 21. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
The Steelers and Panthers are traditional opponents in the preseason, but they haven't played each other in an exhibition game since 2021.
Panthers head coach Dave Canales reached out to the Steelers to gauge their interest in having a joint practice ahead of their preseason matchup on Aug. 21. However, that will not occur. The Steelers will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a joint practice ahead of their Week 2 preseason game against Tampa Bay on Saturday, Aug. 17.

This will be the second consecutive season the Steelers will have participated in a joint practice. They hosted the Buffalo Bills for one last offseason, days before the Steelers met the Bills in a preseason game at Acrisure Stadium.
Pittsburgh kicks off its preseason schedule with a road game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Aug. 9. The Steelers' preseason games against the Jaguars and Buccaneers will air locally on KDKA, but not live on the NFL Network.

Steelers receive bad news regarding free agent WR Gabe Davis

Steelers receive bad news regarding free agent WR Gabe Davis The Steelers' search for a veteran wide receiver continues, as a prominent insider provided some troubling news regarding free agent Gabe Davis — who met with Pittsburgh on Thursday. On Friday's Good Morning Football, insider Ian Rapoport alluded to potential health concerns that are holding up the deal: 'They hosted Gabe Davis for a visit,' Rapoport stated. 'Not quite ready — health-wise — yet.' Davis tore his meniscus in Week 11 of the 2024 season and was released by the Jaguars this past May. The initial report that Davis would meet with Pittsburgh on Thursday had Steelers fans hopeful the team would finally add a veteran WR presence — but for now, a signing may not be in the cards. The arrival of Aaron Rodgers, while polarizing, brings a spark to the Steelers offense — and providing any additional weapons for the four-time MVP to utilize in 2025 is the best path forward. But with Davis' injury concerns preventing a deal, who should Pittsburgh target next? For up-to-date Steelers coverage, follow us on X @TheSteelersWire and give our Facebook page a like.

Aaron Rodgers signing is ‘worst-case scenario' for Steelers: Ryan Clark

One former Steelers star is not too thrilled about Pittsburgh landing Aaron Rodgers. Ryan Clark thinks that the Steelers are making a mistake in signing Rodgers, saying that fans should look it as a 'worst-case scenario.' 'This is the worst-case scenario for Pittsburgh Steelers fans. It continues to keep you mired in mediocrity,' Clark said Thursday during an appearance on ESPN's 'SportsCenter.' 'Will this team be better? Have they gotten better in the quarterback room? Absolutely. Will they contend for that championship that Pittsburgh Steelers people, and fans, and organization think is the standard? Advertisement 'No, they won't. … They'll be fighting for a wild card spot. They'll probably be home week one of the playoffs and again be looking for a franchise quarterback. If you told me you were gonna pair one of this era's greatest coaches with one of this era's greatest quarterbacks, I'd expect greatness. That is not what we'll get.' 3 Ryan Clark at the 2025 Disney Upfront. WireImage Rodgers, 41, agreed to a one-year deal with the Steelers pending a physical, the team announced Thursday night. Clark, who spent eight years of his NFL career in Pittsburgh, has criticized his former team going after Rodgers in free agency multiple times, saying in April that he was disappointed in how the Steelers were handling the situation. 3 Aaron Rodgers in a New York Jets uniform. 'I feel like this has been mishandled already.' Clark also said he believes the Steelers were being 'held hostage' by the 10-time Pro Bowler who has 'actually never done anything for you.' 3 Aaron Rodgers, wearing a New York Jets uniform, walks off the field. Clark said.' Advertisement 'It's been a bad play by the Pittsburgh Steelers already,' Clark added. Rodgers, after playing one full season with the Jets after an Achilles injury in 2023, will now hope for better fortunes in Pittsburgh.
