Harmless, HR-approved April Fools' prank gets employee fired, netizens say, ‘This is wild'
In the viral post, the social media user shared an image of the sticker that got in into trouble and said, 'I put it in our staff washroom At the top of the mirror Everyone besides the boss knew what I was doing because I had joked about doing it as an April fools joke and HR said to do it and even told me what washroom to put it in.'
However, the next day, he said he realised that all his things 'weren't where I left them' and therefore, he immediately knew he was getting suspended for it.
'I had full intentions of admitting it and speaking with him about it so that's what I continued to do that morning. I didn't want anyone getting blamed,' he said.
But then the unexpected happened: 'As soon as I went in his office I explained to him that as a leader I shouldn't have done that. And said sorry. He then told me we have to let you go. Not sure why he said we, HR was not there.'
The social media user then shared an incident that his boss recalled when he asked him if there was anything that he had done in the past that betrayed his trust like this had.
The Redditor said that he said 'okay thanks for everything' and left after saying goodbye to the cleaner. He added that he wasn't even written up or suspended from his job of 10 months.
'Part of me is so sad because I spent so much time focusing on making sure everyone felt comfortable and confident so we could have a successful shift. My heart is broken because a lot of the staff believed in me as a leader,' he said.
The user sought help from fellow Redditors to see if he should approach the labour board about it or not, since he didn't have a written proof.
Netizens were of the opinion that this incident is unlikely to be the sole reason for firing someone and said the social media user likely offended someone.
'This is wild, we have these signs at work in the employee-only areas. No one cares,' a user said.
'That is something insane to fire someone over, they probably just wanted you gone anyways and used this as an excuse. Get a union job and you won't have to work for little bitches who can fire you for any reason,' added another user.
A user said: 'We had this in my bathroom at my old job, and it was my manager who put it up lol. We all thought it was hilarious. People are weird to get offended by this.'

Madras HC bins plea to allow one sect to operate stall in temple
CHENNAI: The Madras High Court on Tuesday dismissed a petition praying for orders to the Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) department to ensure that the contract for running the 'prasadham kadai', which sells edible sacred offerings, at the renowned Devarajaswamy temple in Chinna Kancheepuram is given only to men belonging to the Vaishnavite Brahmin community. Justice N Anand Venkatesh observed that Vaishnavites are a sect worshipping Lord Perumal and they do not constitute a specific caste. The petition, filed by L Ravi of West Mambalam in Chennai, prayed for the court to quash the auction notice dated July 31, 2025 issued by the HR&CE department, and conduct the auction for awarding tender for the 'prasadham kadai' as per the conditions contained in the original auction notices dated June 3 and July 4. The auction notice dated July 31, 2025 had revised the tender condition and fixed the eligibility criteria as experience of five years in preparing 'prasadham' in a Vaishnavite temple and running the 'prasadham kadai'. Justice N Anand Venkatesh, who heard the submission of special government pleader NRR Arun Natarajan, found no violation in the clauses of the tender notice dated July 31. Natarajan added that the tender cannot be awarded solely based on a particular community, and noted that the Madurai Bench of the high court had held that a particular sect cannot be given the rights for preparing the 'prasadham'. July 31 notice altered tender condition: Petitioner The petitioner had said that the July 31 notice that altered the tender condition was nothing but 'a colourable exercise of power' and it was against the 'principles of natural justice and fair play'. The clause is also against the custom and practice followed in the temple for past 22 years of allowing only Vaishnavite Brahmins to take part in the tender process, the petitioner had contended.

Devotees scammed in online booking for Srirangam Yatri Nivas
Trichy: Planning to visit the famed Ranganathaswamy temple at Srirangam and spend a couple of days at the HR&CE-run Yatri Nivas there? By all means go ahead, but steer clear of "online booking" offers. For, the guest house doesn't take reservations on the internet, but cybercriminals have been busy duping unsuspecting pilgrims who go for it. Since December, several people who made 'online reservations' for lodging through these fake websites have been scammed, according to complaints registered with cyber police, accessed by TOI. HR&CE sources said they have so far filed seven complaints in connection with the scam, which involves amounts ranging from ₹1,500 to ₹16,500. Police and temple officials have been left in a tizzy. The budget-friendly lodging complex controlled by the HR&CE department was opened in Jan 2015 and serves as a major spot for devotees travelling from across the country to Srirangam temple. Drawn in by the serene images of the lodging, unsuspecting victims then enter their phone numbers on the fake site. "Thereafter, I received a WhatsApp message from a number directing me to pay ₹5,000 and ₹1,450 in two instalments via UPI. After paying it, I waited for a while but did not receive a booking confirmation," says Amaresh K from Nandyala in Andhra Pradesh, who was scammed on July 21. When he called the number, strangely a man spoke to him in Hindi. "And when I asked for a refund, I was told to pay another ₹4,000 to process it," he told TOI. "When I visited the temple, I went straight to the lodging, where it was confirmed that it was a scam and there was no system for online reservations," he said. A senior HR&CE official said the matter has been raised with the commissioner of police. Police have so far filed only CSRs, not FIRs, and have not tracked down anyone operating the scam. They said they have blocked multiple websites linked to the fraud. "But the scamsters operate much like those sending hoax bomb threats. They work on different botnets, and the website domains keep mushrooming," a senior police official at Trichy district cybercrime wing said. The official added that they have advised HR&CE department to publicise the fact that no online reservations are taken. HR&CE sources said they have pasted instructions at the lodging and are flashing the warning on the temple website regularly. "Police say they have not filed FIRs because we have not been able to bring the victims in person, instead of us (HR&CE) lodging complaints on their behalf. We have asked the victims to register their complaints from their respective places at their local police stations," said the HR&CE official. A senior city police official told TOI that an investigation is underway. It was difficult to go beyond a point as the victims are mostly in another location, sometimes even outside the state, when they are scammed, he said. Agama violation: Two Perur temple staff suspended
COIMBATORE: Two employees of the Arulmigu Patteeswarar Swamy Temple in Perur have been suspended for allowing a superintendent of police (SP) to worship inside the sanctum sanctorum after temple hours on Sunday. The HR&CE department suspended Velmurugan, a staff member, and Saminathan, a priest, on Wednesday after a video purportedly showing the SP's late-night visit went viral on social media. Following the incident, a devotee had staged a sit-in protest in front of the temple along with members of the Hindu Munnani, demanding action against those who permitted the entry. Sources said the temple staff allowed the officer inside based on instructions from a senior HR&CE official. However, access to the inner precincts of temples after 9 pm is considered a violation of the Agama Vidhi (the temple's rituals and practices prescribed in the Agama scriptures). Meanwhile, the HR&CE department has also banned devotees from carrying cellphones inside the temple. The restriction came into effect on Thursday, coinciding with the Adi Amavasai, when thousands of devotees flock to the shrine. A dedicated counter has been set up to collect mobile phones, and tokens are being issued in exchange. However, officials denied that the ban was linked to the SP incident, stating that the move was already under consideration to prevent devotees from photographing the deities.
