Vikings' Dallas Turner opens up about his offseason plan for a breakout 2025
While Turner looks to join his draft classmates in the top tier of pass rushers, he took some steps this offseason to get there. Speaking at training camp, Turner gave everyone a glimpse into who he worked with and how he is getting ready for the new season.
Turner explained his offseason work and the urgency he had, saying, 'Right after the season… [Greenard and I] were hitting it strong in the weight room, watching film, picking each other's brain. He has a lot of knowledge. He's one of the best vets on the team… it was a good opportunity to be around him and spend time with him and see how he got to this point in his career.'
For Turner, he is behind two Pro Bowlers, compared to Robinson and Verse, who are on the same team as Andrew Van Ginkel and Jonathan Greenard. What is going to turn Turner, though, is that Brian Flores has shown he will use a rotation of pass rushers in his schemes.
Turner didn't get a lot of playing time last year, so tracking his snaps in the preseason will be critical to setting expectations.

Rams RB Kyren Williams agrees to 3-year contract extension worth up to $33 million
Kyren Williams grew up in St. Louis going to Rams games and dreaming of someday carrying the ball for his favorite team. The running back has done it impressively over the past two seasons — and with his new contract, he won't wake up anytime soon from his childhood dream. Williams agreed to a three-year, $33 million extension with the Los Angeles Rams on Tuesday, wrapping up months of contract negotiations with a deal through 2028. Williams has been a productive starter in the Rams' backfield for two years, producing back-to-back 1,100-yard seasons. Los Angeles resolved its most significant contract issue before the new season with a deal that includes $23 million in guaranteed money. Williams made the Pro Bowl in 2023 while finishing third in the NFL in yards rushing, and he has rushed for 2,582 yards and 26 touchdowns while adding 464 yards receiving and five more TDs over three seasons as a versatile component of Sean McVay's offense. "For me, it means everything," Williams said. "It means a whole lot that just this organization believes in me, and I'm going to continue giving them everything I have in my soul to make sure they know that." Williams and the Rams finalized the deal during a meeting in McVay's office on Tuesday morning before the team headed to Oxnard, California, for a joint practice with the Dallas Cowboys. "We gave them the offer, we gave them the things that we wanted," Williams said. "And the great Rams organization, and (executive) Matthew (Shearin) and Coach McVay, they discussed, and they came back to me. And, man, I couldn't believe what they said. Honestly, I wasn't expecting them to say yes. But when they did, you should have seen me." While signing his deal, Williams made a joyous FaceTime call to his mother, who took him to innumerable Rams games at the then-Edward Jones Dome. McVay got inconsistent production out of his running backs for four years after the Rams released Todd Gurley following the 2019 season, but Williams has been a dependable workhorse back who makes up for his lack of elite breakaway speed with relentlessness and toughness. McVay also has consistently praised Williams' locker room presence and leadership. "I think the coolest thing, where you know this is the right thing, is ... how he wanted to still be here, but then when you start to see his teammates' reaction, and when you see how happy his coaches, his teammates are for him, you feel really good for him," McVay said. "And the best part about it is he'll just continue to do what he's done. He's like, 'I can't wait to work even harder.' And it's like, I don't think you can work any harder." Williams also made an offseason decision that likely played a role in the relatively speedy resolution of his negotiations when he reported to training camp last month as scheduled. He has participated in all practices instead of holding out before the final year of his rookie deal. The fifth-round pick out of Notre Dame in 2022 said he never seriously considered a holdout or a hold-in, preferring to keep the focus on the team. "I know what the Rams are about, and I know what we stand for," Williams said. "I know the standard here is not (holding out). I know a person who thinks that they're bigger than the program is not where we're at. And so for me, I didn't want to give off any type of ill feelings to my teammates, to the organization, to myself." Williams is due to make $5.34 million this season in the final year of his rookie deal, and he will remain the lynchpin of the Rams' ground game even though the team has invested in the running back position with more enthusiasm than most opponents in recent seasons. Los Angeles general manager Les Snead has drafted a running back in eight consecutive drafts, and he now has one of the NFL's top-10 highest-paid running backs despite drafting Blake Corum in the third round in 2023 and trading up to pick Jarquez Hunter in the fourth round last April. Williams had career highs of 1,299 yards rushing and 14 rushing touchdowns last season, accounting for a league-high 73.6% of the Rams' rushing output. But he also fumbled five times in the regular season and again in the postseason, and Williams has been working on grip strength during the offseason to avoid a repeat. Williams is just the second Rams draft pick since 2018 to be given a second consecutive contract by the team. Receiver Tutu Atwell, drafted one year before Williams, is back for a fifth season with Los Angeles after getting a surprising one-year, $10 million deal in the opening days of free agency last spring.

Tuesday was a big day for the Los Angeles Rams. Not only did they get Kyren Williams under contract for three more years with a $33 million extension, but they put together a solid practice against the Dallas Cowboys in Oxnard. Sean McVay said it himself after practice: "Today was a good day for the Rams." Based on reports from Oxnard, the Rams won this practice with their NFC foes. The defense shut down Dallas' ground game, while the passing attack seemed to excel against Dallas' secondary. Jimmy Garoppolo continues to have a great summer and Williams put all of his talents on display just hours after signing the biggest contract of his life. Here are six key takeaways from the Rams' practice with the Cowboys. Kyren Williams shows why the Rams extended him Earlier in the day, Williams and the Rams agreed to a three-year, $33 million extension. Hours later, Williams showed exactly why he was worth the money. He broke off a long touchdown run up the middle, displaying good speed through the hole – something that was lacking at times last season. He also put linebacker Damone Clark on his back while blocking for Jimmy Garoppolo, putting in the effort as a blocker. Williams is the heart and soul of the offense, and that was evident during Tuesday's practice. Davante Adams can't be covered Adams was open. A lot. His route running has always been top-notch, but the Cowboys had no answer for him on Tuesday. This touchdown was a perfect throw and catch by Jimmy Garoppolo and Adams after the receiver slipped through the defense uncovered for six points. On this play, he blew up a running play and made a tackle for a loss, showing just how good he is against the run, too. Rams' run defense shut Dallas down The Cowboys don't exactly have a prolific ground game, but the Rams gave them no room to run. Reporters in attendance repeatedly mentioned the Rams' run defense during Tuesday's practice, shutting down the Cowboys' rushing attack. Plays like this show how good Los Angeles' front seven can be when healthy. Kamren Kinchens and Quentin Lake stood out Kinchens and Lake made two of the best plays of the day. Kinchens' highlight-reel play was a big hit on Jalen Tolbert after the receiver caught a bubble screen, laying out the Cowboys wideout in the flat. Lake's play might've been even better. He saw George Pickens going to the back of the end zone and turned to run with him, perfectly timing his leap to rip the ball away from the Cowboys receiver. It sure wasn't a touchdown and while it's hard to see if Lake got his feet down, it was a stellar play from the defensive back. Jimmy Garoppolo was sharp It seemed like Garoppolo had a really good day based on reports and highlights from practice, which is encouraging with Matthew Stafford out. This throw to Tutu Atwell was outstanding, hitting the receiver in stride deep down the left sideline. Atwell hasn't had the best camp thus far but plays like this one show exactly how dangerous he can be. He went in motion and caught the defense napping, getting behind the secondary for a big play. It was a perfect ball from Garoppolo, and it's not as if it was an easy throw, either. He caught the eye of Rams writer Stu Jackson during practice for the way he spun it Tuesday. Cowboys backup QB excites in practice vs Rams before exiting with hand injury
Joe Milton is done for the day. Appeared to hurt his hand on an opposing helmet earlier in practice. We'll talk with Brian Schottenheimer shortly to see if it was precautionary or something to keep an eye on. Cowboys backup quarterback Joe Milton wowed the crowd early during the Cowboys-Rams joint practice before exiting with an apparent hand injury. The second-year player out of Tennessee showcased his impressive arm strength, hitting Dallas wideout Jalen Brooks for what the streets are calling a 65-yard bomb. He also showed some touch on a few passes and was overall having a very positive day. His great start was overshadowed by his noticeable absence. Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer updated that he will undergo further testing, but it appears a bullet was dodged as Schotty indicated he was removed for precautionary reasons and would've been able to continue if anything was actually on the line. The injury bug Dallas has dealt with reared its ugly head again when Milton appeared to have hit his hand on an opposing team's helmet which subsequently ending his day. Third string quarterback Will Grier took over in Milton's absence. The first big play for the Cowboys: Joe Milton bomb for a touchdown to Jalen Brooks. Milton was acquired from the New England Patriots in exchange for a late-round pick the 2025 NFL draft. The Cowboys preseason opener is Saturday, August 9. Anticipation of seeing Milton in game action has been bubbling all summer, hopefully he'll be able to play.
