Centre to invest Rs 2 lakh crore in Telangana's roads over next few years
Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari announced that the Centre will invest Rs 2 lakh crore in Telangana's road infrastructure. Gadkari made the announcement on Monday, marking a significant commitment to Telangana's development over the next three to four years.
Speaking at an event after he laid foundation stones for several road projects worth over Rs 6,100 crore across Telangana, Gadkari highlighted the remarkable progress already achieved in the region.
'The length of national highways in Telangana has more than doubled to over 5,000 km since I took office a decade ago,' Gadkari told attendees at the event after the ceremonies in Kumuram Bheem Asifabad district and Hyderabad.
The Union Minister emphasised that completed works worth Rs 1.25 lakh crore represent merely 'the tip of the iceberg' compared to what lies ahead.
'I want to assure you that the planned Rs 2 lakh crore investment over the next 3-4 years will transform Telangana's landscape completely,' Gadkari said. AMBITIOUS CONNECTIVITY GOALS
The minister outlined an ambitious vision for Telangana's transport network, pledging that road infrastructure would be developed to enable citizens from any corner of the state to reach the capital within five hours.
'We're building new green access-controlled expressways in Telangana with an approximate investment of Rs 1 lakh crore,' Gadkari explained. He added that the Indore-Hyderabad Corridor, once completed, would halve travel time between the cities to just 10 hours. WATER CONSERVATION AND RURAL CONNECTIVITY
During his address, Gadkari extended an offer to implement water conservation projects under the Centre's 'Amrit Sarovar' scheme in Telangana, requesting cooperation from Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and his cabinet.
The minister also noted substantial progress in rural connectivity, with roads constructed in 4.5 million of India's 6.5 million villages under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). REGIONAL RING ROAD DISCUSSIONS
Following the ceremonies, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met with Gadkari at Begumpet airport to discuss the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road (RRR) and Radial Roads projects. The Chief Minister requested swift Cabinet approval for funding the northern section of the RRR, for which tenders have already been issued.
Reddy also sought support for simultaneous development of both southern and northern segments of the RRR, alongside other initiatives including the Hyderabad-Amaravati Greenfield Expressway.
In attendance at the various events were Union Minister for Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy, Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and Telangana Ministers Komatireddy Venkata Reddy and Danasari Anasuya Seethakka, among others.
Kishan Reddy remarked that these infrastructure projects would ensure safer, smoother connectivity between Telangana, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, while creating new opportunities for trade, tourism and investment across the region.

New Delhi: India is set to bring home a deadly new shield, the Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM) system, in a deal worth Rs 30,000 crore. It is fast and smart. And it kills moving threats in seconds. It is a mobile missile defence system designed to track and destroy enemy aircraft and drones in real-time. It reacts quickly, locks onto fast-moving targets and takes them out in a flash. This new system will be deployed near the Pakistan and China borders. Three full regiments will protect the skies. Sources say the Ministry of Defence is ready to seal the deal with the DRDO. The QRSAM is a beast in battle. It can track enemy aircraft from 120 km away. It can lock onto threats from 80 km. And it does not wait. It finds. It fires. It finishes. It works in the day. It works at night. It can move from place to place. And most importantly, it takes down moving targets at short notice. The QRSAM will strengthen India's short-to-medium range air defence, support systems like MRSAM and Akash and fill the gaps by intercepting threats that sneak in under radar coverage. With a range of 30 km, it will team up with India's other missiles such as MRSAM and Akash to trap anything that tries to enter Indian airspace. A top-level meeting is expected later this month. Sources say QRSAM could soon be inducted into the armed forces. After May's Conflict, India Moves Fast From May 7 to 10, India and Pakistan clashed in a shadow war. Pakistan fired Chinese missiles. It sent Israeli drones. But none could breach India's air shield. Akashteer, S-400 and Iron Drone systems struck them down mid-air. Not a single missile made it to its target. Akashteer became the unexpected hero. It is powered by artificial intelligence. It controls all ground air-defence systems through one brain. It connects radars, sensors and comms in real time. That edge saved lives. Difference between QRSAM and S-400 S-400 is a long-range defence system with a reach of up to 400 km. The QRSAM is for short-range and fast-reaction strikes within 30 km. While S-400 locks onto threats from far away, the QRSAM is designed to handle close-in, sudden threats like low-flying jets and drones. S-400 is the king of India's air defence. It blocks enemy missiles, rockets, drones and fighter jets. Russia made it. India bought five units in 2018 for Rs 40,000 crore. Each unit is mobile. It can move fast. Its radar sees targets from 600 km away. Within minutes, it is ready to fire. It can track 160 targets at once and launch two missiles per threat. The version India has hits from 400 km away. It can also strike threats 30 km above the ground. That makes it one of the world's most advanced defence systems. With QRSAM joining forces with Akash, S-400 and Iron Dome-style defences, India is building an air wall no missile can cross.

Andhra Pradesh unveils plans to lead in quantum technologies and artificial intelligence
Vijayawada: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that Andhra Pradesh's quantum mission should lead the way in quantum technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) in the country. He stated that Amaravati's Quantum Valley should be designed in such a way that it will gain a distinct identity akin to Silicon Valley. Naidu held a meeting with experts from the IT sector and sought inputs from them for developing Quantum Valley ecosystem in Amaravati. Naidu announced that a workshop on the 'quantum mission' will be held in Vijayawada on June 30. Stressing the importance of meticulous attention to every aspect of Quantum valley's development, he directed officials to ensure that the proposed building becomes an iconic structure. Drawing a parallel, he said just as Hyderabad's Hi-Tech city building, which once stood out as a symbol of progress, the upcoming Quantum Valley in Amaravati must become equally iconic. The Quantum Valley is being set up with Rs 4,000 crore in two phases. The mission will be implemented in two phases. In phase-I, between 2025 and 2017, the focus will be on infrastructure development, education, research, and pilot programme. In phase II, between 2027 and 2030, the focus will be on propelling Andhra Pradesh towards global leadership, boosting commercialisation, and export capabilities. The govt has also decided to appoint a director for the quantum mission shortly. The mission will be anchored by IBM. Representatives from the IT, pharma, agro, and healthcare sectors, along with universities, colleges, startups, and innovators, will be invited to participate in the upcoming quantum mission workshop this month.
