Two Great Games That Couldn't Be More Different Are Free Right Now

The Epic Game Store is currently giving away two PC games that are both very good, but also extremely different. First up, you can grab a free copy of the beloved indie platformer Limbo. And then, you can snag Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, a strange but fun Borderlands spin-off, for the low price of zero dollars.
The Mega Sale event is happening right now on Epic's PC storefront, offering big discounts on a ton of games, including The Last of Us, Cyberpunk 2077, and Grand Theft Auto V's fancy enhanced port. And that's nice and all. But maybe you're getting ready to buy a Nintendo Switch 2, and some games to go along with it. Or you're trying to save money for some other reason. Thankfully, during each week of the sale, Epic is giving out free PC games. And this week's games are the aforementioned Wonderlands and Limbo.
Just a heads-up that these games will only be free until June 5. Meanwhile, the Epic Games Mega Sale event ends on June 12, so we'll get two more freebies before the party wraps up.
Released in 2010, Limbo is a fantastic, bite-sized, black-and-white 2D platformer that made a big splash over a decade ago on Xbox Live Arcade. Since then, this creepy and minimalistic game has been ported to everything and is worth checking out, especially if you loved 2016's Inside, which was developed by the same folks.
Meanwhile, 2022's Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is probably the exact polar opposite of Limbo. Wonderlands is a fantasy-themed Borderlands spin-off featuring melee weapons, magic, and a big overworld map. It's a strange game, but one which I've played through twice and enjoyed thoroughly. If you like Borderlands and haven't played this looter shooter spin-off yet, now is a great time to hop in. And if you're excited about Borderlands 4, launching in September, Wonderlands will keep you busy until then.

For (Fortnite) Democracy.

Posted Aug 6, 2025 at 3:28 PM UTC For (Fortnite) Democracy. In Fortnite's 'Shock 'N Awesome' battle royale season, which launches on Thursday, you'll have to watch out for a lot of gross-looking bugs. Fortunately, you can channel the spirit of the Power Rangers while you're battling the hordes; the Green Ranger is in the battle pass, and the rest of the Power Rangers will be available to buy from Fortnite's shop 'later in August.' THE POWER RANGERS Just Made Their Live-Action Comeback... in a FORTNITE Ad?! — GeekTyrant

The Power Rangers franchise has been pretty quiet lately. After the nostalgic punch of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once and Always and the finale of Cosmic Fury , the future of the Rangers felt like it was up in the air. With reboot rumors stalling, Hasbro auctioning off pieces of the franchise, and even AI-upscaled episodes floating around, fans have been waiting for signs of life from the legendary team. And now we've got one, though not in the way anyone expected. The first new live-action Power Rangers content in nearly two years has arrived... as a Fortnite commercial. Epic Games just revealed the next season of Fortnite , titled 'Shock 'N Awesome,' and it's set to drop August 7. The theme is a full-blown alien bug invasion straight out of Starship Troopers . But players won't be facing this threat alone, because the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers are suiting up to join the battle. The Red, Yellow, and Blue Rangers make their entrance in a full-blown live-action trailer, teaming up with familiar Fortnite faces to blast giant alien bugs with miniguns and pyrotechnics, and it's set to a thumping remix of the iconic Mighty Morphin theme song. It's packed with '90s nostalgia. And while it's undeniably fun, it's also kind of wild that this is the first live-action Power Rangers anything we've seen since 2023. The full Power Rangers skin bundle, featuring all five core team members and themed accessories, including that remixed theme track, will be available in the Fortnite store later in August. As for Green Ranger fans, Tommy Oliver is set to appear in the season's battle pass. Then, from September 16, players who complete seasonal quests can unlock a Dino Megazord skin as part of a midseason event. The Power Rangers are officially back in action... in the most unexpected way possible. Live-action, laser-blasting, and now fully digital. Welcome to 2025.

The First New Live-Action ‘Power Rangers' Material In Years Is… a Fortnite Ad

When celebrations for Power Rangers' 30th anniversary wrapped up a few years ago with the release of Once and Always and the conclusion of Cosmic Fury, the franchise's future was left in doubt. Rumored reboots stalled, Hasbro picked apart the series' legacy at auction and through AI-enhanced MMPR rereleases—even with the news that Disney would once again become the home of a new era of Power Rangers earlier this year, right now the series' live-action form has felt dormant. That is, until today, in a very peculiar way. This morning Epic Games unveiled the next season of Fortnite, 'Shock 'N Awesome', which is set to come to the battle royale shooter at the end of this week. Bringing a Starship Troopers-esque insectoid invasion to the game's island setting, it seems like players are going to have to contend with more than just each other whenever they drop from the battle bus… but they won't be alone. Well, for a price. The first major collaboration confirmed for the new season today is with Power Rangers, which will bring the Mighty Morphin' team (who else would it be?) to the game. And do so in style, as Epic confirmed the crossover in the only way it could: a '90s-nostalgia-bomb live-action trailer that sees the Red, Yellow, and Blue Rangers team up with some familiar Fortnite faces to battle some bugs. The trailer itself is great, but it is kind of ludicrous that the first official live-action Power Rangers material we've seen since 2023 at this point is for a Fortnite ad. A small price to pay to watch Jason (or Rocky!) spin a minigun around blasting giant bugs with pyrotechnic effects while a remix of the Mighty Morphin' theme blares in the background, I suppose. A presumably less-small price is what you'll be paying to play as the Power Rangers in Fortnite. They won't immediately drop in-game when 'Shock N' Awesome' releases this week (although it appears that Tommy Oliver as the Green Ranger will be part of the season's battle pass, at least), but they will be available in the Fortnite store from mid-August, according to Epic, as a skin bundle of all five primary Rangers, as well as extra accessories, including a music track for the new theme remix that can be used in Fortnite Festival and other areas of the game. They're not the only Power Rangers additions to the new season, however. Owners of the new seasonal battle pass will be able to do quests to unlock a Dino Megazord skin from September 16, tying into a midseason event that will let players 'power up' as the Megazord—presumably similar to how the game's recent collaboration with Godzilla played out, letting players stomp around the island. Fortnite's new season will launch August 7. Want more io9 news?
